NOTE: Some people have reported having issues with Paypal, I would recommend purchasing directly with a credit card.

95 points from Halliday: Another vote of confidence in this relatively recently introduced label, sister to the Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon. It deserves to be so rated, with a particularly complex palate in terms of texture, structure and flavour. Red fruits lead the band, and there are some darker, savoury, earthy nuances, in turn enhanced by quality oak and fine, but persistent, tannins.

This deal is kindly brought to you by the Australian Frequent Flyer forum, notably the thread here, which contains many amazing deals on wine! I strongly recommend you sign-up for an account if you want more great deals on wine like this one.

    Delivered.

  • I have received mine too, thanks OP

Received mine. Gift box was wrapped in plastic which left a very sticky residue on the (nice) box - not great for gifting unless I manage to get it off.

Edit: just noticed half a dozen people already complained about the stickiness on the previous page, never mind.

Mine just arrived. Sticky residue all around the tin rendered it hard to give as a gift. Tin was dented in multiple places quite deeply but bottle intact.

  • Received, thanks Op - this was after an email update from Wynn's late Sept re delays and expected delivery time, so over-all good service.
Yes, sticky tin once plastic removed, but only round the top, and expect will come off with a little detergent - not nearly as bad as earlier descriptions, maybe lucky/unlucky
(text from Auspost that morning: delivering today, will take to PO if not home
Reality - left at the door)

    • Pretty sure AusPost has been just leaving at the door (even signature required stuff) since covid. Which I'm happy about.

Is it just me who received the following email because of bad luck?

    Hi XXX:

We have received a damaged report from Australia Post regarding your Wynns Black Label Shiraz 2012. We are out of stock of the 2012 vintage, but can offer you the new release as a replacement.

Please note, this does not come in a gift box.

Alternatively, we can offer you a refund.

Please let me know if you are happy with the replacement.

Please contact us again should you have any further queries we can assist you with.

Just ask for a replacement. If you don't intend to cellar for long before enjoying, ask if they can give you a rather old vintage like 2013. And not a very young one like 2018. There is nothing exceptional about the box, as others have said, it has sticky residue - so I discarded it straightaway after opening.

    • Unlucky us, I just asked for a replacement

    • Same, Aus Post "attempted delivery" (was at home all day they never bother to buzz), half an hr later delivery is reported as damaged And Wynns email comes a few days later

  • Thanks OP, ended up getting the bottle yesterday, tin sticky and dented as mentioned above but bottle intact.
Honestly I dont rate the wine that much, 1 glass each was enough and the rest for cooking tonight.
Good value considering the delivery but I’d say its priced well for the quality.

  • I was surprised the gift box wasn't packaged in another box to protect it. Mine was dented as all hell from it's journey.

I've had single bottle of cider shipped in a 24 pack box before from other retailers. (That's excessive, but the can was safe and secure).

    • Too much waste if you ask me. Just stick it in a gift paper bag and it can be effectively re-used by the next person.
These so called 'gift boxes' for a relatively cheapo wine that's going in the bin is pretty pointless imo.
