Office Chair Recommendations for Short People/Females

Hey, I'm really struggling to find a decent budget office chair for my height (158cm). Recently tried the cascade chair that my partner bought. Unfortunately the back arch was too high and the seat too deep. Still hoping I can snag something around the $200-$300 mark.

What chairs would you guys recommend?

Cheers.

Look for second handed herman miller. I was looking for a few months until I got lucky with ther Mirra 2 for 350 on FB marketplace.
You can find the Aeron in size A-b or the mirra which are both amazing chairs.

The only thing I would recommend is don't buy those stupid racing chairs. useless piece of plastic.

    • Haha, I'll be damned if I end up with a racing/gaming chair. Cheers for the advice.

Aeron Herman Miller. Second hand will still be over your budget, but even new still better life cycle cost over many years. Try size A. Find a a LivingEgde store. However yourbin Melb, so probably a bit difficult right now.

I'm 163cm and use a Herman Miller Aeron size B - goes well. When I asked them about size A - they laughed in my face and said "no, they are for tiny people….like children"………they have no respect for our lack of height :P

      Ha ha!

    • This is both sad and hilarious! Awesome that size B is still suitable for the small folks.

B is standard that most ppl get.

I'm a little shorter than you and I've used the Herman Miller Aeron size B for years at work. I can sit in it comfortably all day. Definitely recommend getting a used one in good condition, but they usually go for about the ~500 mark, give take. They're an investment for life. No back pains, comfortable for long term use.

    • All these comments are selling me on waiting it out until I can get my hands on a second hand HM aeron! Might get a super budget one in the meantime to last me through covid. Cheers!

Yeh the ones at work have lasted 10 years so far and are still going strong. Go try the chairs in person at a showroom first when lockdown lifts so you can see which ones suit you best. They're a great investment for life!

Where was this bought from? Got the dimensions of the chair?

I highly recommend that you go in and try a chair before you buy, chairs all are different in dimensions and suit different sized people. There are a number of specialist office furniture suppliers around depending on where you live, but with COVID n such might be a bit harder if your in Victoria.

For your needs maybe consider something that has a good number of adjustability features? Some have adjustable seat sliders, arm rests, tension, lumbar etc etc

In terms of recommendations, i've recommended Krost Furniture to a few Ozbargainers who have gone to their showroom and picked up a chair, so give a number of chairs a try. I recommend you do the same, if your in Sydney they have a showroom and Melbourne (but we are in lockdown at the moment). This one could be something to consider for smaller peeps like yourself try the Krost Furniture Hana, Krost Furniture, Model Hana. It is a bit over budget but maybe give them a call or go in store n see if you can snag a discount?

They deliver free with the chair fully assembled so no need for assembly as most other places I found only send it via flat pack… so it is a nice to have it fully assembled for you.

    • Am referring to the cascade chair in this highly ozbargained deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/554426

      Dimensions are as follows:
Back dimensions: height: 550mm, width: 500mm
Seat dimensions: width: 500mm, depth: 490mm
      Height Range: 460-525mm

Trying out chairs in person would definitely be optimal, but currently locked down in Melb :(

Adjustibility features are definitely something I'll be considering. Didn't even realise seat sliders were an option, so I'm keen to explore that now.

Will definitely suss out the showroom when restrictions ease up. Thanks!

I think they still have stock if you are in Sydney, look up CBD Quality Used Office Furniture Sydney on FB.
