I have received the following email from them, "We're sending out all the Cascades we have, but yours may be delayed depending on what time you placed your order. Don't worry though, the next shipment of Cascades will be arriving in 3-4 weeks, so delays will be kept to a minimum." If you place an order now, expect to wait a while for it.

If you're looking for something to arrive sooner, perhaps look into the following deal for a similar chair at Winc: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/554561

    Hi all!

We could never have expected such overwhelming support from the OzBargain community when we created this code. We're very proud to offer high quality products at affordable prices - so it's great to see that resonating with you all!

We sold over a thousand Cascades online overnight. This is an unprecedented amount of orders.

Our team came in early this morning to get on top of them all and start sending them out. But as a small family-run business, we simply don't have the capacity to process and ship so many orders instantly.

As such, we'll be emailing all Cascade buyers to advise of potential wait times. We understand this may inconvenience some people, so we're happy to discuss alternative solutions if the timeframe doesn't work.

Thank you all for the support! We're working around the clock to make sure you can get your chairs ASAP. Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

    The Sales Team,
    Epic Office Furniture

      Thanks heaps

Looking forward to not using a dining chair to work anymore

    • +15

Update: The orders have kept rolling in all day, so any Cascades purchased from now on will not be dispatched until September.

If you ordered before 5pm today, we will still honour the maximum dispatch time of 3-4 weeks as previously stated.

We apologise for any inconvenience, but we have been blown away by the support we've received from OzBargain users.

The Cascade is still available on pre-order at $199 using the above code, but if you'd prefer not to wait until September we have a couple of options which can hopefully be of assistance:

We apologise once again for the delays, but hope we can work with you all to ensure you can still get what you want. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

      The Sales Team,
      Epic Office Furniture

      • I KNEW I should have waited to order my Buro :-)

Good work guys, good to see some businesses doing well despite the prevailing economic conditions #ThumbsUp.jpg

      • +2

Any reviews of the cheaper version ($99) vs the $199 one? What are the major differences?

        • +1

is the 10 yr warranty the onlydifference?

          • @atlinus: Hi guys! The big advantages of choosing the Cascade ($199 with coupon code 'cascade199') over the Magnum ($99 with coupon code 'mag30') are:

            • Adjustable lumbar support
            • Synchro mechanism
            • Tension control
            • Adjustable armrests
            • More cushioning on seat pad

Both are excellent office chairs suitable for 8+ hours sitting a day - the Cascade is just more 'heavy duty' with features for increased comfort and support :-)

            • @EpicOfficeFurniture: Is this still valid?

Magnum ($99 with coupon code 'mag30')

              • @ausbuysell12: Hi @ausbuysell12, we're running low on Magnums so have had to put them back to the full RRP of $199. However, you can still use the mag30 code to get $30 off, bringing it down to $169.

                • @EpicOfficeFurniture: Do you have an approximation of when it will revert back to this $100 price? was wanting to purchase one but missed out.

                • @EpicOfficeFurniture: Thanks rep, yeah I missed out as well and looking to buy one now - any idea when this will go back on sale for $99 please?

                  • +1

@ausbuysell12: Hi guys, it will be a couple of months before we can run the $99 Magnum deal again. We made the code as response to the Cascades selling out so quickly, as we wanted to give Ozbargainers who missed out on that chair an exclusive offer on an alternative chair.

The code is still valid for $30 off the RRP, but as the Magnum has received a similar positive response on Ozbargain to what the Cascade did, we've had to end that sale to avoid overselling issues.

We understand the disappointment in missing the $99 offer, but we also want to prevent others being disappointed by the inevitable delays that would result from the Magnum continuing to sell so quickly.

The Cascades will be arriving much earlier than the Magnums, so if you're willing to pay the bit extra ($199 with the Cascade199 code) then that's the best alternative at this stage.

Thanks for your continued support! We just want to make sure we can deliver the best result for as many people as possible.

                    • +2

@EpicOfficeFurniture: So where are the Cascades at atm for those who ordered on 27/7!?

                      • +3

@carlenet: it's a bit worrying imo that they are responding to gather more sales as oppose to provide further updates for those who've already ordered

                        • +2

@Godric: We're doing the opposite of trying to 'gather more sales' - we've removed the sale to avoid the same sort of delays we've experienced with the Cascade. We've advised people that the Cascades will be in shortly if they would like an alternative to the Magnum.

                      • +1

@carlenet: I got in touch and they said will dispatch Monday 31st Aug and will take 2-3 days for delivery. I also ordered late on 27th and also in Melb.

                      • +1

@carlenet: Please see our latest update here.

      • Is there potential for it to come sooner than the current ETA of 3-4 weeks ?

    • +1

Chair bargains are rare on OzBargain. There was a built up demand, lots of people with cheap old chairs that needed replacing.

    • +2

      Hi Ozbargainers,

We want to make sure we're keeping you all up-to-date on the status of the Cascade Chairs. Thank you again for your patience!

We've been advised by our freight carrier that while the container is still due in this weekend, they are experiencing some delays in clearing customs due to pay disputes with border officials at the Brisbane port. We are hoping this doesn't affect the Cascades, however we want to be as transparent as possible.

The following is an excerpt from the Industrial Action Update from DP World Terminals:

"We regret we have been unable to reach agreement with the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), who have given notice to DP World Australia (DPWA) of further Protected Industrial Action (PIA) at DPWA Terminals.

The effect of the bans varies across terminals and advised PIA includes work stoppages, limited various bans on employees working in tasks above their normal grade, overtime, shift extensions, accepting late call-ins, and ceasing advanced or delayed start times."

If anything changes we will let you know!

Thanks again for your patience and understanding - we're doing everything we can to get these chairs to you ASAP!

Given haven't heard anything yet, safe to assume these are coming this week for the early purchases?

  • +9

Got this chair in the deal last month and its been really good so far. Fabric covering so it wont wear down as fast as some other faux leather chairs. Solid chair with foam padding so overall a good office chair. The mesh back would be good for summer. At this price definetely better than the chairs you can get at officeworks and IKEA.

    • +1

Hi mate, does the seat tilt independently of the back ? I can only see two levers, so I assume not.

This is looking the pick of the bunch for me - https://epicofficefurniture.com.au/product/madison-pu-fully-…

    • Do you know how long the foam seats usually last vs faux? My faux is peeling after 2 years

      • +1

Fabric foam seats will usually last up to 5 years and more. Besides I think they give you a 10 year warranty with this chair, so its pretty safe to say it will last at least somewhere 5 - 10 years probably.

        • @EpicOfficeFurniture

Does the fabric/foam included in the 10 yr warranty?

They may consider this as normal wear and tear.
Good to have a confirmation from the rep.

          • +1

            @atlinus: @atlinus That's all included in the 10 year warranty :-)

    • I paid about $250 for a custom OW chair with 10 year warranty and 130 kg rating that failed within 6 months. The chair can't hold the height and will fall down randomly. Extremely annoying and a hassle to claim warranty within only 6 months.

  • this or secretlabs chair?

    • +3

If you think this chair is good enough then don't bother with the SecretLab one, which will cost you ~3x more. But if you know what you want, are willing to spend the extra cash and the SecretLab options fit the bill then go for it.

Basically this is a simple medium backed office chair with basic ergonomics. The SecretLab chairs are premium, full height gaming chairs with all the features and visual flourishes that comes with. I can't comment on quality because I have neither chair (I got a Thunderx3 BC3 Boss instead), but this $199 chair comes with a 10 year warranty whereas the SecretLab chairs seem to be 5 years, if that's any kind of indication of how long they'll last.

    • New 2020 model secretlab chairs has a lot of quality control issues. Check online before buying. I was looking into them too earlier this year. Can't say anything about this chair.

      • Source??

Ive had my 2020 Secretlab since the start of the year and i cant fault it, been WFh daily + gaming and its been great, adjustable lumbar support and armrests are a lifesaver….you might mean the older ones thats didnt have the PL 2.0

        • +1

I might get one - I don't see how i can lose when the secretlabs even the PU could have up to a 5 years warranty.

        • Can anyone comment and reviews I keep seeing with people saying they are ‘too firm’?

          • @aaronmr: I've got the 2020 version fabric version. I feel I like the firmness. It's firm but it feels like it should be like that to be able to sit on it for long. Don't feel like you should be sinking into your chair.

      • My SecretLab has been a dream for 4 years and counting, probably 6-8~ hours a day during that time. Obviously not the 2020 model, but brand is/was sound.

    • +3

The fake leather probably won't last as long comparing to mesh, also non-ventilated will be hot in summer.

      • From what I have heard this is a huge issue with secret labs apparently they often flake apart

      • I've used a Secretlab for work for the last year or so, It's got the PL 2.0 covering, I'm pretty sure that's what makes the difference to those earlier bad reviews.

It's the most comfortable chair to do any computer use in. Still looks like new. I use it in air conditioning so can't really comment on the hot in summer but haven't had any issues.

  • "Coupon usage limit has been reached."

    =S

      • +1

Yea, spoke to customer support chat and they fixed it.

  • +1

Got this from last deal too. Can vouch for it. Note that you can't adjust the angle of the chair's back

    • Can the chair lean back?

    • +1

how do you rate the ass padding on this chair?

    • somehow i'm getting a sense of deja vu…

      • -2

        sense of deja vu

        alcohol does that…

        • +2

lol I haven't been drinking, and haven't been sniffing hand sanitiser either. Although it's quite a bargain to be able to get effects of alcohol intake, without spending on alcohol.

  • +2

Is this a typical low cost chair with the squab attached to a sheet metal base with screws?

    • Check out the assembly video on the product page, it looks pretty good quality, the seat base appears to be thick plastic, 4 screws to metal bars/rails, each armrest is also thick plastic with 3 screws each. It looks much better than your standard Officeworks chair.

      • Hmmm, that's probably going through some ply with insert nuts. The base is definitely thicker steel than the normal pressed steel bases though.

        It's rated to 120kg I see.

I don't think this will get thicc boi approval.

  • +3

Does anyone have a sense of how this one compares to the IKEA Markus?

    • +1

Yes I know you can sit on his face but a bit mean to compare Markus to a chair

    • +5

i had markus leather one , for 199 i d prefer add $30 to get another markus from ikea

      • IKEA Markus is $329 that I check?

    • +1

I have the markus, honestly it's no good if you're short. I'm 1.7m and the head rest pushes my head down. Also the lumbar feels quite high up on my back, so I find myself leaning/sitting forward at times, giving me a sore mid/upper back. However, the seat is thick and comfy (70mm). The armrests are horrible design if your desk is not at the right height, I took it off after a week. A good chair if you're gaming, where you can kind of lean back and relax. But working at a computer all day, not the best option for me. Even the mesh one I got at Kmart served me well for over 3 years, it was just that the seat cushion was thin, though I paid $50 for it.

I'll be returning my markus. Just bought this one. Chat rep said the seat thickness is 60mm. With the adjustable lumbar and seat tilt it should be a fairly decent chair for my height/weight.

      • +1

Agreed, Im also similar height. Same issues with the lumbar support and returned my markus in one week due to back pain.

      • +2

Didn't you test it in the store? I bought one last week, I must have sat in the chair in the store for around 30 minutes!

I'm ~1.95m and it's a very comfortable size for me. But I can understand why it wouldn't work for a 1.7 metre person.

Ikea have the JÄRVFJÄLLET with an adjustable head-rest but I found this chair much less comfortable than the Markus in several ways. https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/jaervfjaellet-office-chair-with…

        • Covid and Ikea's great return policy justified not trying before buying. I went to pick it up and there was a queue to go into Ikea, crazy stuff! The JARV seems to have a slimmer frame, so broad shoulders like my own wouldn't be comfortable. Trust me really wanted the Markus to work after reading reviews but not for me!

        • Yes Markus style likely fits better with tall person.😂

        • I'm 183cm tall, so I have been intending to try both the JÄRVFJÄLLET and the Markus and then pick one.

I had been expecting the JÄRVFJÄLLET to be better (due to it's greater adjustability), but I've noticed that a lot of reviewers favour the Markus.

          • +1

@SomeRandom: The Markus was the right size for me. I think it will be good for you too. I thought the adjustible headrest on the Jarv was rickety and flimsy, and the short armrests were a joke! As mentioned earlier, the Markus also is a broader chair that suits someone who is broader themselves. Just felt a lot more comfortable for me. But definitely test both!

      • Looking forward to hearing from your comment when you receive this chair.

  • Hm… 120kg…

    • -2

      They seem quite heavy.

  • No delivery to Tasmania

    • +25

      Looks like no international shipping.

      • -2

        old joke

        • +9

Even the chairs know not to go there.

      • +2

        You mean overseas shipping

  • +3

"Spend another $1231.05 and receive a FREE Google Nest Mini"

    heh.

  • Where do I enter the coupon? I am trying to checkout using PayPal.

  • I bought exactly a month ago. Fast and efficient response from the customer service via email. Easy to assemble. Recommend to grab one for $199.

  • Do u have any chairs that will hold a weight load of 180kg or more. Like the chair but 120kg weight load won't hold me

    • +1

A lot more expensive, but check out the Herman Miller Aeron - they do 3 sizes to cater for heavier users (expecting 8+ hrs a day, so they're proper heavy duty chairs)

      • They’re also probably the best chairs ever made and come with the price tag to match

        • I'd love to find a middle-ground.. or even just a range of chairs available in Australia that are better than average.

I have a Steelcase Leap V2 and the seat is great except for a few things, mostly cushion is not comfy at all. I'm not a heavy person either and I've gone through two cushions.

The Aeron though… there's expensive, and then there's that.

  • -1

Officeworks is better enduro or matrix

  • Been needing a new office chair, just ordered one thanks!

  • Hmmm, was planning on heading down to Ikea this weekend to grab a new chair. Tempting to jump on this instead…

  • Added coupon but price comes to $218. 95 not $199! What's the shipping insurance charge if $19.95 and why not declared in this poat?

    • +1

      You can remove shipping insurance.

    • +1

I bought one during the last promo and didn’t opt for the shipping insurance either. Found the plastic bit underneath the seat cracked during installation. A quick call and a replacement was sent promptly. So I don’t think there is any point in spending extra on insurance.

Pretty good chair for the price.

  • Would this be okay for someone who's taller (6'3) and spends 8+ hours a day on their chair?

    • +1

At your height, I'll give Markus a try. That chair is designed for you lol.

    • Not suitable for taller..

    • +2

I'm a fraction taller than you, and can really recommend the Markus (see my post above).

This was the first time I've spent more than $120 on a home-office chair, and I am enjoying it. YMMV.

The chair in this ad looks nice, but the Markus will give better support to your upper-back and neck, and has a comfy headrest.

      • Awesome, thanks mate! I think i'll pop into Ikea and pick one up since its $40 for shipping.

        • I'd recommend testing it in store. You're in that chair for lots of hours.

        • How are you finding the Markus, assuming you picked one up.

          • +1

@Charlie Dont Surf: it's been great! really suits my taller frame & stature. I'm really glad I picked one up, particularly for all the sitting during the lockdown. Thanks for the recommendation!!!

  • Been looking at office chairs this whole week and this came up! Just bought it, thank you!

How does this chair compare to the T&W Value Student Home Office Chair @ $79?

    https://www.templeandwebster.com.au/Value-Office-Chair-LFBVL…

    • +1

you're comparing a $79 chair to a $300 RRP chair. apples and oranges here

    • temple and webster are just another marketplace that sell rubbish. it says VALUE.

you get quality from the direct company websites.

    • I got this chair last month for my son. Love it. very sturdy

  • +1

$88 shipping for me. Ouch. Another one of those times i wished I lived in a metro area. Ah well…

    • I remember in the last deal the customer service team actually offered to change the address after accepting payment for metro delivery. I thought this was a fantastic gesture and maybe worth a shot for you.

  • Buro Metro available from Winc for $250 with their new user coupon. Is this really better value for $50 less than the almighty Buro?

    • +1

Which one are you looking at?

I assume it's the Buro Metro II Connect Task Chair Black ?

        • Thanks vinbie! I've seen lots of good reviews of Buro here.. Is it worth the hype?

          • @fortunecookie: Currently sitting on my 6 year old one. Love it!

          • +1

@fortunecookie: Mine's still going strong after 5 years. Just had to get a replacement gas lift last year (they sent one out no fuss).

        • I hear the nylon base, which i assumed is this one, have a different foam seat than the aluminium one? is this true?Is it worth it to get the polished aluminium at 319$?

          • @HungFan: Can't speak to that, sorry, HungFan - where have you seen this? The one I bought in 2014 is the aluminum one.

          • +1

@HungFan: I've heard that. I have the aluminium base and the chair fabric/sponge is high quality. Hasn't deflated at all after 5 years.

          • @HungFan: I saw this comment from an old Buro deal as well. Based on that I might pay extra and get the aluminium one instead

            • +1

@fortunecookie: I'll have to look into this more, because I'm thinking of buying my partner one too. I'll actually ring Winc tomorrow to try and confirm and post back what I find.

Also, I bought the aluminum base one when it was >$400, so definitely a great deal. I've tried the Ergohuman for markedly more expensive and it wasn't as good in my opinion.

              • +1

@Doy: i also saw it from old metro buro threads. Can't remember which one but its somewhere out there lol. Anyway gonna bit it and go for the aluminium one too .

              • @Doy: Found the said comment in this thread:
                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314922

                See comment by zuuutoootuuu:
I've got both and the cushion is different. The version with the nylon base has a much softer cushion.

                • @fortunecookie: @fortunecookie @HungFan - Winc reassure me that they are the same, and it is just a different base. Their only pontential explanation is if they have changed in the past (older model aluminum VS new nylon) but cannot confirm this.
