Free Cheesymite Scrolls @ Bakers Delight (No Purchase Required, One Per Customer, Excludes VIC)

1980

Available Tuesday Sept 29. Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Bakers Delight is turning 40 and giving away 40,000 Cheesymite Scrolls to celebrate. There’s a limit of one scroll per customer, and strict social-distancing guidelines will be in place at each store. Just mention the birthday special to get your free scroll.

Things will work slightly differently in Victoria, where customers will be selected randomly for a free scroll with their order.

I am going to take 10 different face masks and clean them out

How many people don't like cheesymite scrolls but will still get one because it's free?

Anyway, this will be great for me thanks TA :)

    • +13

Cheesey mite scrolls are the best!

      • +2

Agreed! But from past experience I've found people don't actually need to like or use something in order to take a freebie lol

        • yeah I hate those cheesymite scrolls -

          wait - they're FREE !?!?!

          I'll take ten …

    • +2

Trick question, everyone likes cheesemite scrolls!!

  • +43

Gosh, kick us Victorians while we’re down why don’t ya

    • +2

It all stems from the Krispy kreme debacle when they gave away an entire box for free…. cars lines up for miles…😞

      • If they have based it off that, not really comparing apples with apples.

A small number of stores scattered across Melbourne vs a Bakers Delight at nearly every shopping center/strip.

If anything, wasn't Sydney where the real problems were? Huge queues with no social distancing.

    • I wouldn’t worry about it too much, they throw these things out in the hundreds.
BD’s bins are always full to the brim with baked goods at the end of the day. Just help yourself to all the scrolls, bread, hot cross buns (still wrapped) that you’ll ever need.

But Victorians need it the most… 😟

    • they dont want to be the next outbreak :( dw, you'll get over this soon! stay strong

    • You don't need carbs in lockdown

      • +3

        Hasn't stopped me!

Wasn't it the 'need' for people to protest that caused further spread in the first place. Gotta have those pics for social media to prove they are doing something with their lives. #hashtag

Unfortunately there is to much of a sense of entitlement among a certain group of people these days.

      • Every population has a certain proportion of absolute stupidity, Victoria is not exclusive in that regard. Try not to group people that have nothing in common other than a vague geographic location.

      • Very naive of you. From memory it was noted that the protests didn't increase the spread of COVID-19

        • Your source is the ABC? Yes comrade.

I used to have one of these all the time, they were made in a flatter method, like a donut shape. Then, these things turned into pyramids, and 80% of the stuff inside was just air. Mightily disappointed to say the least.

    • +3

I get mine from Coles. They bake them fresh and half the price of Baker’s delight at $2

  • +3

Boo, so disappointed Victoria is excluded

  • +2

Excludes Vic ?? Thanks OP :|

  • In Victoria, both our nearest bakersD'd have shut down this weerk. Guess Mr D wasn't coming to the party with giving them some payment relief, and would rather nothing.

I'm kinda glad tbh, wife spent so much money there its frightening.

  • -5

Glad is not in VIC. THANKS

    • -1

Yep, I also want our cases to go down instead of up. It's only 1 promotion at 1 chain, but every person out who wouldn't be makes a difference.

  • +1

Well THAT'S a kick in the teeth.

  • Selected randomly?

    • Think it depends on whether you get a staff or ower/manager.

      • what's this thing about BD owner/manager?

  • Great offer, they are yummy

  • +1

Man I miss the cheese and bacon scrolls

  • -1

    Yuk

Anyone else find Bakers Delight have the big arse cheesymite scrolls up the front in the display window, and when you ask for one they grab some small keychain size one from the back and covertly pop it in the bag.

    • +1

I always point to the one I want. Gotta speak up kid!

      • does it cost different?

big arse cheesymite scrolls up the front in the display window

who knows how long displays have been sitting there 🙊

        • +1

Most likely the same amount of time as the others, Usually we'd make them all at once rather than batches of them, we may make more if need be and it's not to late (would have to be pretty early as they need time to prove up) as cunningdew said though, point to the one you want they wont deny you. Sometimes i would purposely put extra cheese or sauce on a few of a certain product just because i knew people liked it but my boss didn't.

  • I don't think a cheesymite scroll is worth having to talk to the surly manageress for.

    • is that a thing? never bought from BD before. HAVING TO?

    1. Yuck
    2. Conflicted on whether to self pity for being Victorian or feel ok about it.
  • +2

So sad in Vic we miss out…. But I get it.

    Vic headlines would be.

Ozbargain covid cluster from bakers delight.

    • Ozbargain covid cluster from bakers delight.

This is funny and tragic at the same time. 🤪

  • Anyone know if this is 40,000 per store or nationwide?

    • +9

      40 THOUSAND per store, seriously?

      • +1

Guess I was hoping for too much lol

  • "Things will work slightly differently in Victoria" >>> Yes, here in NSW we say that as commonly we say: "Jeff, I think you'll find that you are on mute"

  • If you get to the store at a reasonable time and they say they have ran out of stock. They're most likely lying, Several times they've run these promotions and they tell the bakers not to make extra and just give out the regular stock or just wont make many at all.

  • Segment on news about one of the stores last night - they are only giving out 100

  • Got one no problem.
No signage about free cheesymite scroll, just have to request one.

  • Got one in NSW. No line and also no signage, but I asked for it and they gave one willingly :)

    • fabulous - I'm almost excited enough to look for a store - I know there's one somewhere not too far away

nah - late in the day - can't be bovvered - hope it increased sales - to ozbargainers

any ozbargainers buy anything else while they were in-store ?

nah ? cheapskates … go back to where you came from - this website …

Bakers Delight must be hatin' Dan Andrews

  • very disappointing to see they exclude victoria ….

  • I’m a Victorian and after seeing this post I can confidently say I am not a happy little Vegemite.

  • +1

My local in NSW insisted that a purchase is needed before they parted with the 'free' cheesymite scroll.

    • far canal - sounds like a head franchisor promotion - not agreed to by all franchisees …

  • Anyone else had any other stores who declined?

    • Yes my local store had the audacity to say come back when owner arrives at work! I went to another store near by and they claimed they ran out by 10am. Yes right teo. Store is so tiny and no one visits yet all gone? Call me a doubter. Thanks OP. Know others who were luckier than I.

  • +1

Got one no problem at Chatswood NSW [no purchase required]

  • thanks for posting love cheesymite scrolls

  • Thanks! Yay, yummy cheesymite scrolls!

  • hmmm - I dunno about this - so I have to ask …

    What Would Cheeses Do ?

(for those that didn't get it - that's a US joke - Kristy Yannity, etc.)

  • got my free scroll at one BD in a smaller shopping centre; went to another at a much larger one and they had all sold out. oh well. they're huge for a freebie!

  • No issues getting one near 10am. Tasted better than expected.
