      Hej! Yöúrè a true ozbàrgàiñer!

  • -2

What's Swedish about barramundi or chicken schnitzel?

    • +15

that's probably why those 2 don't have the little "traditional swedish dish" sticker on them.

    • -4

One step further, what’s Swedish about IKEA?
      Aren’t they Dutch?

      • +4

the swedes would kill ya for this! IKEA is the one thing they're so proud of

        • I mean it can't be the only thing I mean they have the umm… there's the mmmm… Ah! No that's polish… Can I phone a friend?

      • +17

Oh mate, don't say that! Because that irritates me, and I've punched blokes in the mouth for saying that!. :p

        • +1

I still don't get the aggro. Unless that's he's default response to everything. Which would actually make sense.

    • +3

it would be Swedish (not!) if they wrote Bårråmundì and Chicken Snïtchzël

Relief! Friday night dinners sorted again. Thank you OP.

  • Wasn’t it already 50%

  • In a parallel universe, IKEA is serving the swedish delicacy known as surstromming

    • +1

I don't understand how Swedish people can eat that??

      • people wonder the same about Aussies and vegemite

  • +5

Had the lamb last week, with red wine and rosemary sauce, only $9 👍

    • +3

good on ya! Would have been more impressive if it was - lamb with red wine, and rosemary sauce!

  • +2

Basically continues the last deal finished last week.

I'm $400 poorer because of this 1/2 price meals last visit.

    • +5

      Every trip to IKEA
I miss the IKEA catalogues, it's amazing how this company can so attractively promote organised clutter lol.

    • $400 poorer as compared to what, simply starving?

      • You are not allowed to go back straight to your car after the meal.

  • I'm not old enough to have experience it, but I still miss the cafeterias we used to have dotted around everywhere. I think Coles even ran a few?

Sometimes simple, cheap food is all I want.

    • Kmart

I'm not old enough to have experience it, but I still miss the cafeterias we used to have

If you didn't experience it, how do you miss it?

      • Back to the future….

      • +3

They like the idea of it and long for it. Makes sense.

I have hazy memories of the Holly's cafeteria in the local Kmart. IKEA's takeaway "bistro" is close to the style of it (cheapish fried food in not particularly classy or comfortable surrounds).

        • Living vicariously.

    • Yep coles ran some in some stores. As did Kmart/Target and i know DJ's did but can't remember ever going to a myer (grace bros) one. Last one i went to was the early 2000s at David Jones Macarthur Square.

    • Myer at Lonsdale St had a cafeteria back in the 90's and earlier. Terrific for lunch, or an early dinner. The meals were great value, usually $5 - $10. I didn't mind sharing with the grannies.

    • +2

Myer used to have a cafeteria. My grandparents would take me there and I'd always get jelly with a chocolate frog in it :')

I wouldnt be paying full price for this stuff considering the portion sizes..

  • Back in June they were half price every weekday. I dropped in a few times to get a salmon fillet with mash. Quick, cheap, healthy dinner. Never got to try lamb shoulder.

    • the salmon fillets i see are so thin, like half the normal size fillets.

Bring back the $25 off $100 spend pls ;D

I miss the little flags on the meatballs!

  • Hot tip: the Logan store is open late so is good for dinner whereas the restaurant at North Lakes closes at 5:30

Saw a guy take his date there for half price dinner last time. Hair done, little black dress, make-up on… true OzBargainers!

    • I’ve seen people take their dates to the kiosk part for hotdogs and soft drinks at dinner time.

  • Can I use the $10 credit voucher for joining?

    • Yes you can, but there is a $50 minimum spend.

  • It’s a OK deal but you can feed a family of four at your local pub on kids eat free days for about the same price, which includes the all you can eat salad bar. There are usually leftovers for takeaway for another meal the following day!

  • Baked salmon fillets are so popular, its listed twice on their website.

Just in time for my birthday today yay lol

On a side note yes Kmart Cafes were awesome. I remember getting a cheap feed while going and looking at all the Atari 2600, c64 and Amiga stuff they had for sale along with the Jet Hoppers and Tyco car slot sets they had at the time. Thanks for the memories.

  • Did you know you can stack with the take $10 off your first shop over $50 at the Restaurant? Tried it recently and paid the rest with discounted IKEA GCs and it worked.
