LEGO Grand Piano 21323 $509 Delivered @ My Hobbies

210

I'm gonna do a first deal post for the LEGO Ideas Grand Piano set.

Seems like My hobbies are doing an introductory offer for this set for $509 (around 4% off - RRP $529.99)

And looking at the comments the store rep said it'll be available end of October but you can add to wish list and they'll notify you once available. Hopefully a store rep in ozbargain can verify.

This is like a month away and maybe Target or Kmart will get this set in store (I don't know). So if you feel this is not an ozbargain deal, feel free to neg me.

    in 41 days? wow that's long…

    • +3

      i'll be dead by then

You could buy a real 2nd hand one with that price. lol

    • i was gonna say that although it's completely different thing and not so comparable…

but i would personally go for the 2nd hand pianos (electrical one)

    • True, a couple of hundred more and you could buy a semi decent beginners digital piano.

    • +1

2nd hand piano, sure. 2nd hand GRAND piano? Don't think so mate…

      • Yeah I think he doesn't realise even a good quality second-hand Casio digital piano is around $500-800 dollars.

For an actual used grand piano you need to add a couple of extra zeros to $500 dollars.

  • Maybe that's the date when third party retail stores are getting it.

    • Yeah, I don't actually know myhobbies relationship with LEGO. It states that it's a "authorised e-commerce lego partners." And they were able to sell sets like Harry Potter Diagon Alley or Haunted House (even though it list them as sold out)

  • Good marketing strategy, if they can get stock, myer DJ independent store like IRJB would also get stock too.

Secondly, $509 is not anywhere 10% off from RRP which is $530, you can purchase from S@H, considering the VIP points are worth 5% which is about $26.5, the money saving is already more than this deal not even considering any freebies.

Thirdly, I understand it’s been always OOS from LEGO, try your local lego certified store, they are also running their own VIP system is worthing like 5% same as lego.com but different system.

In conclusion, I’m not neg you OP, but it is definitely not a deal but a marketing strategy, ozbargainers should recognize that.

    • Yeah, my bad. My maths are awful. LOL… But you are definitely right, if you are able to purchase this at LEGO.com you get 3% (or 5% but I don't think this is standard) from Cashrewards plus VIP points. So definitely not a deal. (I'm shooting myself in the leg… LOL)

  • Honestly this has a long way to go down in price for the value of the set.

Its a new release and its yet to really flood to all the Lego distributors (Myer DJs etc)

41 days only? Just in time for Christmas. Bought 3.

  • I'll add another 3 % going through CashRewards with the 5% VIP pts . Time it with another promo set and it kicks this offers butt :)

Fun fact - designed by a brick builder in Melbourne. Support local! 😁

    • +2

Since we like to talk numbers here, the designer gets 1% of net sales (according to internet talk) so $5 per unit.

Gotta sell a crap ton to make anything. Its more of the love of creating something that eventually becomes an official Lego product that would get people to spend so much time creating these awesome builds

    This set is absolutely.. nuts..

I might get it for my son since he's a piano player. lol

    • +2

Just be aware you can't actually physically play it by pressing the keys. The keys also depress the same way for each song, no matter which song you play on the app. It's definitely a good display and mechanical piece but don't expect it to actually work.

      • I know.. Not expecting it to play out of the piano without the app. It teaches my son the mechanism of how the piano works moreso than it playing really.

      • Even if it works there's only 2 octaves.

  • get some 10% off myer gift card
    and
wait 20% off @ myer on november

    • Where to get 10% discount giftcard?

      • +1

everynow and then woolworth is doing it
for example $100 gift card becomes $110
        $500 becomes $550

and myer just did theirs 2 weeks ago
up to $9999 per customer per day, it ran for a week, so you can buy $99999 gift card, they give u additional gift card 10%
        for example, if you buy 2x$500, they give u $500 x 2 and $100 x 1

for that price i should be able to play a few notes

    • +5

Instead it costs quite a few notes

  • So I'm guessing it's only Lego that has sold this set first? And all the other retailers will get it in November?

  • That site gave my phone pancreatic cancer and now Trump is taking advantage of it

  • +1

Definitely have a close read of the functionality and reviews of it before you buy. I think some of the marketing makes it sound like it does more than it can actually do. Lots of 1 star reviews on the official Lego website from disappointed buyers.

I still think it's very cool even with the limited movement capabilities, unfortunately got no place to display it at my home (I collect and display the modulars instead).

  • +1

Such an overpriced set for one that doesn't even make a sound… The app doing all of the sound functionality is a cop out. Despite the ingenuity of the original Lego designer, I consider this one a bit of a fail.

If you are wanting to buy - I'd advise waiting as this has some way to fall.

    • I'd disagree with it being OOS all major retailers and scalpers raking in the dough = huge demand .
Although a lot of popular sets go through that cycle initially when launched and with patience people will get it at a decent price .

who buys 1 lego set for $509?
what do you do for a living?

    • Could almost do anything for a living. If you have a hobby you budget your spending around it.

  • Really can play with it?

    • No if what you meant by play is generating music as conventional piano.

      • For $500 can't even play music XD

    • It only plays music from your phone’s speakers through the app, judging from the reviews.

  • +1

I would have liked this set better if it had just made plastic clunking sounds or rang little bells or made tinging sounds somehow. Needing a phone and an app makes this set a potential future brick (made of bricks).

    • Exactly. What if they no longer update the app for future phones/OS? Lego should have put more thoughts on the design before they push this thing out.

  • $499.99 here.
