Any reason you'd buy these over a multitude of other options?

    https://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/huawei/freebuds-3/6690…

    • What other ones?

    • I just got them because I have a Huawei phone

      • They’re redundant then, the CCP already heard anything you were discussing.

  • +12

Damn, apple started making black airpods! Nice!

    • +4

With ANC and full android support!!!!

  • +22

I would rather buy an apple AirPods 2 for that insane price!

    • +1

They are a different style, inner ear vs in ear. No sane person would cross shop them lol

    • But airpods 2 have no noise cancellation. You should compare this with airpod pro.

  • +17

I really get good value out of these. Paid $265 in store 6 months ago. No regrets. They are excellent and function well for my needs, active N/C and music.

    • +2

As a side benefit, from the subliminal education, you can now speak fluent Chinese!

  • +6

Same. Got them for the same price via Amazon about 2 months ago. Excellent sound quality and play very nicely with my P30 Pro.

  • -2

Rather pay extra for apple earpod vs not support chinese company!

    • +3

Earpods…… are much cheaper and doesn't support Bluetooth. Why would you pay more for Apple Earpods?

    • +10

You must be hating Chinese company alot to pay more than $175 for an Apple Earpod…

(try Google what an Earpod is….)

    • +9

Are no parts of your Apple products made in China?

  • How do these compare to the OPPO version?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/OPPO-Earphones-Bluetooth-Ultra-Dyn…

Or the oneplus buds (which are significantly cheaper but harder to find in Australia).

  • +3

Bought one 7 months ago. Noise cancelling function doesn't work very well can still hear noise (comparing to my other head phones). It malfunctions at times with one ear working and the other doesn't. It was great for first 2 months. Only got it because I had a Google phone. In hindsight, I would not spend that much for it.

    • At least you didn't buy the Google buds!

ANC in open buds will never be very good, it's the style of the buds.

  • -3

    Shouldn't these be free?

Why name them free if they're not?

    • -3

Because it's free to steal peoples design and get away with it.

  • +4

Damn I just bought the $9 pair last week, they still going strong

    • Feel for you bro. I have $40 Soundpeats. Sigh.

  • +2

Bonus feature… Chinese government listens in to your calls at no extra cost.

    • +5

Further deal with the CIA listening in to your conversations for free.

    • +7

Wow, looked at your post history, please stop spamming us

      • -4

        Stalker much?

        • +3

You are stalking OZB and posting your political Murdoch garbage.

  • +7

Jesus christ lol IP theft much?

    • +10

I mean Apple copied the generic earphone design…. so each to their own right?

      • +6

TheEnvelope is correct. Generic!? Mind you, I am not being anti chinese people. Till now what most of the china based companies are doing is pure stealing. Even the websites look and feel is exactly like that of apple. They are doing the same for Tesla also. This is an extremely dangerous environment for very good companies to survive. Later the companies that will survive are just mediocre companies because there wont be any more innovation.

        • +2

You know that Apple stole the earphone design right? And phones existed before iPhone so Apple stole that too. So dangerous isn't it!

          • @onlinepred: lol, from where do you get your sources genius! Show me one genuine article where it says apple copied airpods design? Phones have existed before iphone! Do you always makes such tangential arguments.

      • +2

I’ve owned a tonne of earphones before the Airpods came out, none of them were in a similar design to the Airpod’s, not even close, all the phones you’ve bought in the past, you know none of them came with a earphones similar design to the Airpod’s.

“Phones existed before iPhone so Apple stole that too?” Jesus christ mate is that the best you’ve got?

        • +3

So you neg the deal, because you think the designs are too similar?

          • @onlinepred: You’ve changed the subject, I’m keen to learn more of Apples IP theft of generic earphone design?

            • +1

@TheEnvelope: @theenvelope Never mind the red herring argument, you will be going in circles if you do :D First the argument was about ip theft which he couldnt answer, now the topic is about the deal :p

      • +1

Apple copied apple and took a bite to avoid intellectual property theft.

      • If generic design was the case then I guess all copyright and patents are irrelevant. All building and architectural designs would then be in the public domain as they copied the basic principle of a shelter consisting of walls and what not.

        • +1

Then why hasn't Apple sued the companies? Want to know why? Because they don't own the exact design IP.

          • +1

@onlinepred: Lol because China is Apple's sugar daddy. I think it was reported that 20% of Apple's profits is from China. If they were start suing, then they would disrupt their trade relations and decrease Apple's profits. It would also limit Apples ability to hire slave labor. Even if Apple did sue, China wouldn't even do anything since copyright infringement is non existent with China. This is seen with fake Nike and complete car design rip off of Range Rovers, Porche, BMW, etc.

            • -1

@No Username: Oneplus made earbuds that are the same, they are a US based company. Thankyou

              • +3

                @onlinepred:

OnePlus Technology Co., Ltd., commonly referred to as OnePlus, is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong

          • @onlinepred: : Thats because China hasn't got the greatest record of IP integrity. There have been 1000's of IP thefts which havent been reprimanded. Many chinese companies are known for stealing us technologies.
            https://www.zdnet.com/article/fbi-is-investigating-more-than…

            • +2

@SharTheDeal: Yes they straight up copy cars. I know…. earbuds are earbuds though….. the shape isn't IP in this case, it's the technology. It's why most others aren't as reliable

  • +9

I prefer China's foreign policy to USA, will purchase thanks!

    • +1

Until they invade your country and silence your free speech.

      • +6

You have been brain washed. US already does what you said.

        • -1

Haha. I don't see them building islands. I don't see them laying claim to seas that aren't theirs. I don't see them stealing IP to cheaply grow their manufacturing industry. I don't see them manipulate their currency. I don't see them persecuting minorities. I don't see them trying to take over any countries. I don't see them starting pandemics.

They are a democratic nation, so even if they were doing these things I would feel a little more comfortable.

  • +12

The noise cancellation on these are amazing! It goes so far as to silence the user!

    • +2

I see what you did there

  • +18

Pretty crazy the amount of anti-China comments on this post.

It's either a bargain or not dudes, keep your unrelated views to whatever social media or internet forum discusses that stuff.

    • +7

I realised a while ago, that a fair chunk of OZB are racist, sexist, and trump supporters.

      • +3

I resent that. Can't stand Trump myself.

    • +1

Nope. Past the time is being silent about their behaviour - there needs to be a paradigm shift. Next is the Winter Olympics.

      • +12

Mate, the revolution isn't gonna start on a bargain site.

        • +1

hahahaha, gold. People here are looking for bargains, nothing else.

        • +2

Education and influence takes time. Even if it just plants the seed in one person's head that the Chinese need to be stopped, then it has contributed to the greater good.

          • +8

@Lets Make Sandwiches: Its not the place man. Do you have a like minded friend you can chat about this stuff with?

            • +1

@AlanHB: Plenty. But that just creates an echo chamber and I am just preaching to the converted. Just as social justice warriors feel the need to spread their view, I have an obligation to spread these more important matters also.

        • Stranger things have happened! It is an echo of a growing opposition to power!

    • +3

Considering Airpods 2 have regularly been around $190 recently, it is not a bargain.

      • +3

Airpods 2 don't have noise cancelling. This competes with Airpods Pro.

    • +5

      Couldn't agree with this more.
      Not everyone wants Airpods.

These are fantastic for both music listening and phone calls.

      Recommend!

  • -6

Airpod2 costs alittle more. So I'd rather pay a little more for the real thing than $175 knock off. No bargain for me

    • +6

Not for android though, also no ANC. Invalid neg

      • +2

I use my Airpods 2 on Android.

        • +2

Can you set all the tap and double tap controls/ auto play/pause, single ear detection for one earpod listening? No, because these are all IOS only. Of course you can use them on android, but not all their features.

    • These compete with Airpods Pro.

      • +1

Although open not closed, so they are different styles entirely.

        • "Style" is a matter of taste. ANC is a expensive feature. I don't get the neg.

          • +1

@elektron: Not in this case, having inner ear vs in ear is entirely different. That's like saying open back headphones is the same as closed back headphones.

            • @onlinepred: Not the same - just a matter of preference. ANC, however, is something that the the Airpods lack and Apple charges extra for this with Airpods Pro.

              • @elektron: Okay, so lets compare ANC headphones to these too… Yes they both have ANC, but they are different styles, so have different use cases and different purposes/uses/demographics.

                • @onlinepred: Now that we've established which product they compete with, people can make up their mind whether it's worth paying double for a different style earphone with an Apple logo.

                  • @elektron: Yes, these compare directly with airpods 2, but these have ANC.

                    • @onlinepred: They can't be compared directly to Airpods 2, precisely because the latter don't have ANC, but a more expensive Apple product does. We are going in circles now, so I'm out.

  • +1

HAHAHA they will probably listen to your music and stream it back to China!!

    • +2

-he says while using China made products

      • I want them to have my data.

  • +5

I’ll stick to Apple. I prefer CIA to spy on me rather than Chinese 😉👍

  • +2

Freebuds? But they are coming up for $175 for me.

    • Yeah, me too… strange?

      • It is strange! Any code to enter to have these Freebuds for free?

  • +2

I am waiting for Huawei Freebuds Pro will release tomorrow 23 Sep 2020. He did mentioned this maybe the only one at same level of airpod pro, but support multi device connection which you have it connected both Phone and Tablet same time. no need reconnecting etc..
