General Purpose RTX 3070 Launch Thread

Hello!

Not a lot going on in the mWave raffle thread last night for the 3090 launch, dunno if everyone too exhausted by the 3080 one the week before, or if the 3090 is just ridiculously expensive for 12% gains over the 3080 that most gamers can expect…

Just a spot for thoughts, memes, links, anything of interest in the lead up to the 3070 launch.

    • Agreed although I still pre ordered evga xc3 3070 for $919. I'll only be playing at 1440 res. Missed the launch so hopefully there isn't a long wait on the pre order. Not even going to bother with the xc3 3080 as who knows how long the wait is. Freaking absurd, low stock just feeding scalpers and high prices.

  • You guys reckon the same will happen with the 6800xt?
    With the price gouging/limited stock?

    • +1

Anyone who price gouge on the 3070 is taking on a lot of risk, since they'll have to sell it above $1300 to make it worthwhile, but used 2080 ti are generally around $1000 atm

    • gives it a few months and it will be all over with both players pumping out cards to drive sale
let the FOMO people paying big bucks for it and when there are plenty of stock available and not many buyers you be in good seat

    • I hope not. My plan is already a Ryzen 5900 ( soon ) and I am switching from long time Green Team ( 7800, 480, 880 ) because what Nvidia and third party sellers are doing is just ridiculous ( price wise, and advertizing "Available" if the only thing available is a waiting list).

So lets hope AMD does better.

      • AMD still jacked their prices up as they see what nVidia gets and are just matching them more or less, there is no reason for the 6900XT to cost $999 more like $799-849 as the card is the same with only 8 more CU atleast nVidia put more memory on the 3090 (insane price though still) if it had 32Gb I'd call it far enough on the price.

  • What a joke.

    • +1

      Mid-range gaming now only $1000+ from… $350-400. Mid range will now be a 3030.

  • Initial reports place the RTX 3070 to be the equal of RTX 2080 Ti. Good luck to the people waiting for this to be cheap. It's going to be around the $1,000 mark.

  • Looks like shopping express still has stock in anyone is looking

    https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/search-results?q=3070

    • Thats because its way above the 809 of the FE, which was already kind of expensive given the 3080 has more performance per $

  • Does anyone know if Umart actually had any stock? They listed their cards as pre-order and never changed from it.

E: Theyre refusing to say whether they had any actual stock of the cards.

    • Someone recently posted on r/bapcsalesaustralia confirming they just picked up their 3070 ROG Strix card. I haven't heard anything about my order however.

      • A $1299 card…

  • I've got one locked in at PLE for an ETA of the 16th next month for $899.

To me, 99 dollars more than founders for an AIB card is fine but if any of you paid 1100-1200 for a 3070 I would highly recommend cancelling your order.

    • I bought the EVGA one for $919 about 5 minutes after midnight, and no ETA, and queue location = 4th box from the front. How….?

      • I bought the XC3 Black Edition, could be a different EVGA model. If you read their statement about 3080 stock and look at the manufacturers who have been giving PLE a lot of stock EVGA is one of them so I don't think you'll have to wait an extremely long time.

        • XC3 Black was slightly cheaper than XC3 on PLE; not sure what the difference is.
However, I think you can call them and ask if you managed to secure launch stock (as I confirmed).

Got the notification my XC3 Black has just been dispatched :D happy days.

          • @gmail92: How did they notify you ?

            • @Sepp: Both email and text that the stock has been dispatched.

              • @gmail92: Damn seems like I missed it then, I do have an ETA for the 11th of November though

  • Anyone know what the equivalent international prices are for 3070's?

I recall that the 3070FE was supposed to be $500USD, but I wasn't sure if that was low compared to other brands as it is here currently.

Is it supposed to be the RRP? i.e. when the stock levels come good, should we expect an equivalent value of $750AUD as the norm eventually?

Wheres my Mwave FE email :<

    • Lol at their tweet "Now closed. We'll begin the processing of randomly drawing the winner and will update once the first wave of emails are out."

Winner, as in singular. It seemed a bit on the nose today. Even though they corrected it later to say winnerS.

      • Apparently emails were sent out starting 25 mins ago. Little hope left of getting a 3070…

        • Yep, not looking good.

          • +2

@achyd1: Got the email for winning raffle. Can confirm that I am not in any way related to them. I didn't even know that I'd signed up for 3070 as well, since I only wanted the 3080.

        Congratulations to all our staff.

  • Oh well, lots of us wanted this, no one needed this, hopefully, black Friday brings these cards down to rrp.

  • Bit bullet and pre-ordered that $809 Inno3D one. Best non-PLE price - since I can't order another 30 series card from there with 3080 coming.

  • am i the only one whos really mad at mwave ? their prices seem %10-20 higher then other stores except the founders edition and they do a raffle which no one knows about i doubt they even let people buy those anyone was lucky enought to get one ?

    • Yup, was lucky enough to get one in the raffle. I'm not affiliated with them in any way. Regarding third-party cards, agree that last night Mwave's prices didn't look especially competitive.

    • One of their staff sold them all on eBay. They brag about it being "a park of being in the industry". There's a screenshot either in here or in the mwave thread.

      Hope they get firebombed.

      • Is this for real?

      • +1

The mwave thread is 14 pages long. I know I saw it though. TBF, I have no proof screenshot is real. And if someone just wanted to get riled up, that would have been a good way to do it

  • Anyone else spooked they might not get there card in time to redeem Watch Dogs: Legion?

    • +1

its a 15-20 hour campaign, worst case is you pay 20 bucks for uplay+ and beat it within a month

      • Looks like 3070 doesn't qualify for it.

        • Doesn’t surprise me a whole lot, people don’t seem to need incentive for buying a 3070

  • uMart released a statement regarding general 30xx availability and pre order distro status etc etc

  • Spotted stock on the Galax 3070 at Umart. In Milton and Chermside, with online / delivery option. $999 if anyone keen

    Its beautiful, but why isn't it 3080 / 3070 ?

  • Looks like Nvidia has a case of RAM size envy (because AMD cards have 16GB) and rumours are that they plan to have a slew of new GPU's with even more VRAM

    https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-rumored-…

RTX 3060 "rumour" up to 12GB of VRAM in January. The news that quote this is probably not trustworthy.

RTX 3080ti "confirmed" to have 20GB of VRAM to launch in January as well.

Kinda boggles the mind that Nvidia in just a short span of a few months that they will have a new flagship GPU that cannibalizes their recently released RTX 3000 cards..

    • +1

they will have a new flagship GPU that cannibalizes their recently released RTX 3000 cards.

All 7 of them that have been manufactured…

  • If you still in queue for a card, RIP Watch Dogs Legion. RIP it right in your rear. 2020 the year that just doesn't stop taking…

Hope you like Call of Duty…
