Did they fix the colour disparity on it?

    • I guess no

    • You talking about that one part that is slightly yellower than the rest of the kit?

      • By one part it is really many parts that are different shades of green.

No and given Lego's historical response to these kinds of defects or mistakes (i.e. the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and numerous other sets whose instruction manuals had incorrect or missing steps) they likely will not recall or reissue the set with all of the lime-green body panel pieces accurately colour-matched. Colour consistency issues with bright or light-coloured pieces not having uniform shades of colour in a set has been an ongoing problem with Lego for decades now.

There have been plenty of reviews on the Lego S@H site confirming the issue since the set launched, but the only response I've seen from Lego representatives to reviewers mentioning the colour issue is the same stock reply of "some slight colour variation is normal on pieces using very bright/light-coloured pigments", which leads me to believe Lego don't see this is as a problem in the same way consumers do. Instruction manual errors also seem to be a common complaint from reviewers.

The other thing to note is the colour variation on the lime green body panels seems to be worse for some and better for others; if you look up photos from reviewers on Lego S@H or Reddit, you can see each individual set exhibiting the issue will have different pieces affected, so it does seem to be a lottery as to how badly coordinated the lime green pieces will look for your set. A lot of the lime green panels pin sockets that attach to other pieces seem to be the most noticeably affected (as they have to be more rigid for better strength which seems to result in a different ABS plastic formulation that gives a different colour to non-structurally integral elements) but I've also seen photos where some of the large body panel pieces are also a different shade from the surrounding elements as well.

      • Ah but defects make it collectable ;)

I just found out the Steamboat Willie had a misprint on the lego ideas number on the box that was corrected halfway through. Now I can't find my box to check :(

  • Here is a good review of the set.

  • I think they charge $35 for the postage.

        • I was about to ask the same question… any idea???

      • How did you get free express?

        • Did a mock checkout and free express delivery is an option to select for my address in SA.

    Great discount - $0.99

That's pretty much across the store. Makes them look like crooks to strike through the rrp to advertise a 99c discount.

  • Thought Toys R Us went bust?

Another company bought the naming rights, just like kogan bought dick smith brand

    • Owned by "Tru Kids Brands, a new entity created by former executives of the business who have acquired its intellectual property."

Sounds like the same pricks that mismanaged it have pheonixed up. Dirty.

That's Toys R Us in USA.

Hobby Warehouse bought the licencing rights for Toys R Us in Australia.

  • I bought this from DJ's yesterday with 8% discount on gift cards through HCF. Worked out to approx $523.

  • any other lego sets that worth to buy??? it seems big w current 20% off or target are still better off.

  • No deal. Buy through myer using humm for $470 delivered.

Personally I'll wait on this and see what it does. Considering how cheap the previous two cars got and the colour consistency issues I'm not ready to pull the trigger yet.

You can't use humm online at Myer, in store only, and it's out of stock online anyway (you'll get the message at checkout).

In store there are very few stores that have stock.

      • Thanks. Neg removed.

I can't believe it's in store only. What a useless payment mechanism.
