  • That ball just looks nasty.

  • Cheap for some fun.

  • Is this ball compliant within Baseketball regulations?

    • +2

Most of the slazenger range is.

That looks like a 'padded' regulation basketball.

My club used to use slazenger exclusively; looks identical but i havent seen in person.

I don't really play basketball, but I mean, $3, for a basketball from a well known brand (I know it's cricket, but come on, $3), it looks really good.

Couldn't agree more, fellow OzBargainer :)

  • Cheaper than a pet toy!

  • What’s the usual price?

    • +3

$5 - Not bad for filling up the trolley for your 3 point contests, but probably not so great for dribbling long term.

      • not so great for dribbling long term.

That’s the problem. Who buys balls for the short time…

        • People who rarely play I suppose.

        • It's $3… You buy a decent ball for around $40. Some people may just wanna see if their kid is into basketball first before loading up on a decent ball.

          • @damian1079: This isn't the ball for them. Kids use a smaller lighter ball size 5 or 6 depending on age. This is also much harder to dribble that even a standard $5 rubber ball, it just doesn't bounce well and is way too slippery.

is this just as good as molten and spalding basketballs?

    • +6

      It's $3.

        Lifelong ban from OzBargain.

        Price does not equal quality.

          It's considered a solid guide.

@mr fox: Give up bargain hunting because "you get what you pay for."

    • +1

I'm no expert, but the better the quality, the better the Grip and Bounce. You feel the difference in your hand when shooting and dribbling, you simply have more control with grip. I'd imagine this ball is what it is, a good buy but don't expect it to be great.

  • +2

This is good a good deal

  • +3

Having used a pvc ball before they are slippery as hell and impossible to grip until they get sufficiently scuffed up. But for $3 go nuts.

    • +1

Looking at the size of those rib indents, it looks like a regulation 'padded PVC' ball.
All the places I've played in the past used synthetic balls these days.

      • I am pretty certain i have this exact ball and it is nothing like the synthetic game ball.

It is a hard, slippery pvc. Nothing like the soft synthetic leather you get with a proper game ball. Your average $5 rubber ball is significantly nicer to use.

  • Looks like Slazenger forgot the quality control lol .
Only for chucking to your dog to destroy .

  • These…. are more like a medicine ball than a basketball. Hard like a rock with no feel, rubbish rim and backboard reaction. Stay away from this unless it is for SUPER casual use. Teaches you all the wrong technique with zero handling characteristics - Would not recommend.

  • +1

imagine rocking up at your local court with a slazenger ball

    • I often wonder what people like that are doing here 🤔

    • Thank you, I enjoyed imagining that.
      I think I'll go shoot a few hoops :)

    • -2

Imagine having such low skill that your main concern is brand rather than fun 🤣

  • +2

Just FYI, these are pretty crap.

Super slippery and rock hard. The $5 rubber ball is better.

    • Is this everyday price?

      • I bought one for that price last year so it seems to be.

Very good quality pvc ball. This isn't synthetic leather.

  • Review in: horrible, just horrible.

    • Please refer to my post above regarding said medicine ball 😅

If you pump it up to 20 PSI you could use it as a weapon/projectile/cannon ball?
