eBay - Refunded Delayed/Missing Package, and Now It's Arrived - What Should I Do? (resolved)

Subject says it all
I bought something listed in NSW from eBay, gave it ample time to arrive (1 month past latest expected date), and got a refund as I assumed it just got lost in the flood of mail over fathers day.
It's only just now arrived, ~2 months later.
Will the seller know it's arrived, and do I now owe them the refund back?
Bit miffed as I've bought another of the same item from a different seller and I'm gonna have to go through a whole process to return that too
Cheers

Yes you should refund the seller or post the item back, to not do so is stealing. It's not the seller's fault there's a pandemic or our postal infrastructure is garbage.

Just refund the Seller, it's not their fault that the mail is all over the place these days.

  • Contact the seller to let them know that it has arrived. Happened to me a few times, some sellers ask me to pay to their paypal account, some said to just keep it.

  • what's the price of the said item?

  • Thanks for the input guys
Thinking on it I was mostly upset at the double purchase aspect of it
I'm just going to try to cancel the second order and pay the first order back
    Cheers!

    • With a double purchase from the delay makes it a little different since you've suffered a loss from it. Contact the seller and see what can be done. If seller can't cancel the second order, seller could offer a discount on one of the purchase.

  • Normally the seller would have logged a enquiry and the tracking number would be flagged. After it got delivered the seller would have received an email. I sent a $800 item that got lost on the way and came back used after 3 months. You might want to open it and inspect it first.

It is concerning you need to ask the question "and do I now owe them the refund back"

  • I'm waiting on an item (~$120) since April, and the seller graciously refunded me about a month ago. I've already committed that if the item yet arrives I'll send them the money afresh.

If it was genuinely posted from NSW then offer to send it back. Many times items get posted from OS despite the location being Australia. In those cases where the seller is clearly lieing then I'd keep it. Not worth the stress to return.

  • In reality with all my refunded products that turned up late I have never had the refund paid back .
Unbelievable all the Angel's on a bargain site !

Wow. Are people really this stupid?

How are the sellers going to find out that the item has arrived? Auspost don't do squat.

    Shut up and be happy…

  • just email the first seller and advise them it has turned up and that they are welcome to organise a courier to pick it up. Easy as

I have had two instances where delivery time had been excessively exceeded and received a refund.
Thanks to our bjorked parcel delivery business they both finally arrived and i paid for both and informed the sellers.
There are grubs out there that rort the trust allowed in this system but they are just common thieves.

  • return it but charge then postage

  • With Asian etc. sellers, if something doesn't arrive after an extended time frame, I request, and usually get, a re-send of the item. This is almost always less than $10AU.
I also say that if the original arrives as well as the reposted item, I do my best to pay them for the 2nd at the same cost as the original, including postage.

Yeah, I'm one of the guys with a white cowboy hat. It doesn't happen often so it's not the end of the world, it just helps me smile as I turn the bedside light off at night.
