  • I have never seen a $1000 cricket bat before

Hello there, the cricket world has changed a lot over the last few years. Most large bat manufacturers have their top range bats selling for over $1,000 these days.

      • -1

Hasn't changed enough that they need to wear woolen jumpers on 35 degree days to break a sweat.

    • -1

That's alot of money for something that's made in a third world country. Most of this money goes to player sponsorships or the brand owners. Manufacturers probably make a small fraction of this price.

        So is the iPhone…

Although true but there is actually no comparison between an smart phone and 2 pieces of carefully carved and polished wood stuck together.

          • +2

@bigbadboogieman: I am sure professional cricketers might disagree with this overly simplistic expansion of yours.

            • -1

@rdhupar: Yeah well they have their opinions and I have mine. Everyone is entitled to theirs isn't it? There literally is no comparison between a cricket bat and a smart phone. It's not even an apples vs oranges comparison.

              • @bigbadboogieman: Definitely isn't in general but your comment also makes no sense that it should be cheap just because it's made in a third world country. Just saying…

                • @rdhupar: Read again:

Manufacturers probably make a small fraction of this price

This doesn't mean it should be cheap. It means manufacturers should be paid more when these things are sold at extortionate $$.

          • @bigbadboogieman: This would be better value for money.

            • @BewareOfThe Dog: If you lost your cricket bat and your phone and you only had money to purchase one of these items what would you purchase? I guess different people had different meaning for the word "value"

DIY knocking in was the fun part as a kid

Amazing to think what Bradman could’ve done with a bat like this.

    • Yep. That's why there is no comparison when it comes to players now. Could you imagine him with one of these in his era? He would've averaged significantly higher for sure.

    • +3

Full respect to Bradman but comparisons between generations is pointless. Bradman did not have to deal with the fact that his every movement and shot is recorded and strategized by teams and players. Every generation has their own set of challenges.

  • +2

Dean Jones would have averaged a ton a game with this.

    • only if he hadn't been out the night before….

      • Even with that handicap!

    • RIP Deano
