      28 Days Renewal Plan,

That's not even a month! Would rather get Kogan 60GB 90 days for $14.90.

        • +8

Yep, that's so they can charge you an extra month over a year…

        • +1
          1. The Kogan 60GB/90 day is the equivalent of about 20GB data per month. This is 60GB for about 1 month, for $5 instead of $14.90.
          2. Kogan also has 40GB/30 days for $4.90. This deal is 20GB more for only 2 or 3 days less.
          3. This seems to be 60GB every 28 days for $28 from month 2 on. That same 60GB/m would cost $49 directly from Optus.

This is still better in each case so I'm not sure what the gripe is.

          Some real concerns however are:

          1. Can we easily disable billing. ie. Can we order, receive SIM by mail, activate SIM, then immediately disable billing (like we can with Kogan)?
          2. Does the 28 days begin when we ORDER or when we receive and then ACTIVATE the SIM? ie. Does the SIM come preactivated?
          3. Is there a limit to how many $5 SIMs/accounts each person can have?
          4. Can we order blank/unactivated SIMs in advance?
          5. Is this an ongoing deal?

eg. If this works like Kogan or CatchConnent $4.90/40GB/30 day SIMs does/did, then this is great. (Probably not though.) If it does then a person could order multiple SIMs, for $5 each, turn billing off right after activation, and buy as many $5/60GB SIMs as they need for internet (if we can cancel billing before the second month is due and order multiple SIMs as needed).

@[Deactivated]: The gripe is the 28 days as I said above. Lots of members use these deals for sim slutting & 28 days is a problem if you need to port out from a different provider for 30 days in order to be considered a new customer.

Also just generally 28 days plans have been created to milk another "monthly" payment per year out of their customers so why not mention it in the comments to make everyone aware of it?

Personally I only like sim slutting every 90 days hence why I mentioned the Kogan plan. I can get my yearly phone bill down to $5 or less per month doing this & only have to port 4 times per year. Not much work for a big savings.

            • @Arthur Dunger: Hey Arthur, who do you sim slut with Kogan? Catch don't seem to offer their 90 day $15 plans anymore…

        • in february it is. Though not this year's february.

        So 13 months/year

Hey Sim, you can get 60GB for $5.
    There, I told him.

    • +2

I was hoping someone would TelSim that!!

    • But how do you know that sim is a him?

      • The name Sim is a boy's name of Scottish Gaelic origin meaning "the listener".

Hi Rep, if you can come up with a 90 day 60GB plan for around $15 then you would get a lot more interest on here.

    • It looks like a new company needs quick cash and can not wait for 3 months to charge set price.

Postpaid service may result in a credit enquiry on Equifax report.

It also may not be better than Circles.Life. I think it was first mentioned here.

  • Postpaid Optus network. Brand owned by E.Tel.

    Comparable MNVO may be Circles.Life.

    • No lock-ins would indicate it's a prepaid product

Telsim SIM only post-paid mobile services are for use in Australia only.

      • The CIS says it is a post paid service.

No lockins would suggest no ETC

        • +1

If your payment method is not updated, automatic renewals are not possible and you will need to renew your plan at www.telsim.com.au/renew by yourself. }} This sounds like prepaid. Post paid service doesn't require renewal instead you should get a bill and then you elect to pay for it.

          • @TomGum: In the CIS, it describes that your first billing period is paid upfront. Similar to other Telstra and Optus post paid service. What happens to your service on the bill due date is kinda at discretion of the provider.

Another way to look it is with excess data. With post paid, you go over the data limit and the cost will appear on your next bill. With prepaid, you will need to top up first.

But hey, someone who will sign up to this will tell us. And the fact that OP up voted your comment probably means you are right.

            • @avoidfullprice: There is a rumour that Amaysim may dump Optus in mid 2022, which leads to a company like Telsim emerges. Its 28 days renewal is indeed a copycat.

              • @Neoika: Prepaid doesn't require credit checks, whereas postpaid does. Turning off the automatic renewal in a postpaid service seems like an invitation to put unnecessary marks on your credit file. Buyers beware.

    • I thought Vodafone bought out the company worldwide. Could be new deal because of the change of ownership.

Hi OP. If I receive one in the mail next week and I don't activate it straight away. When does the SIM expire?

    • +1

Activate within 30days of purchase or by the date advertised on a promotion.

  • +1

Rep, can you please confirm if pre or post paid?

    • +1

Postpaid according to their live chat person.

      • It is on page 2 of CIS - post paid

  • Sounds likes another sux you in deal then they give it to u in the rear end deal

  • +1

I’m definitely a pass on this. Why post paid? Doesn’t make sense.

  • Hey OP, how do you get the code/voucher to activate? I never received it via email, thought it would some with the sim in the mail but got nothing.

    BEAWARE

    "Customer Service
We already have submitted your request to Lebara on the same day. We appreciate your patience, however, from our previous experience; it takes 3-4 business days to get the number from any network.. As soon as we get the number, we will re-check in our system and activate the number instant."

    • now no phone for 4 days probably, and lets ad 2 extra days for the weekend

    • Please read my comment below

  • Hey OP.

I purchased the SIM on special for $5.00 However, when I tried to activate my SIM your company charged me $28.00 That was on Friday 16/10/20 and today is 23/10/20. Yet I haven't received any refund.
Another issue is that I tried to port my number over to Telsim on Friday but it didn't succeeded before yesterday 15/10/20. For that reason I wasted 1 month payment to my previous provider.
This will be first and last time I use Telsim service..
    :(

  • they use 3rd party for porting, also, i cancelled the port (like pulling teeth) and bought an optus sim and ported in 5 minutes…..
