$139 Delivered, Normal price $189
I was looking for a new monitor and saw this from Dell online store.
Compare to Samsung 22A300 21.5 inch , I think this one is better.

I got mine about 5 months ago for $149 delivered and thought it was good value for a 23" with HDMI input. Handy when I want to play my Xbox 360 in 1080p resolution and the TV in the lounge is occupied. Picture quality is not ideal for movies/games (via HDMI) but I think it's fine for an everyday monitor (via VGA/DVI). Other negatives would be the glossy frame, no VESA mount and no speakers (has a 3.5 audio jack output though).

Good price. Have my PS3 hooked up to this via HDMI, so I just switch inputs DVI > HDMI to watch Blu-Rays. That said, a pet peeve is that these monitors use touch-sensitive buttons, and are almost invisible in the black frame, so you'll be fumbling around a lot to change settings, inputs etc.

Good price, but this screen is rubbish. I bought 2 last time they were on sale, and have sold them both already and got 24" IPS Ultrasharps instead.

    Bad points:
*Image quality is rubbish, colours are very inaccurate (even after lots of calibration you can't get anywhere near accurate colours out of it)
*Viewing angles are terrible and make the inaccurate colours even worse
    *Backlight isn't very even
*Glossy bezel is very reflective and distracting
*Touch-sensitive buttons are annoying and sometimes stop responding (have to pull out the power plug to reset them). Also, the buttons aren't backlit/tactile so it's pretty hard to find the right button in anything but bright ambient light.
*No VESA mount and no height adjustable stand.

    Good points:

It's okay if you're just looking for a cheap monitor to do office work on, not much good for anything else, especially multimedia related. IMO it's better to spend a bit more and get the Dell U2311HM IPS monitor when it goes on sale again.

  • What do you mean by bad colour quality? Is it still better than other monitors in this price range? ie Asus/Acer 23/24" LED Monitors.

Can't comment on other monitors in the price range as I haven't used them before, but with this Dell the colours are really badly washed out/bleached looking.

See this: http://www.pcmonitors.org/monitor-reviews/dell-st2320l for a good, detailed review of the monitor. For people too lazy to click and read through, here's some lines from the conclusion section:

The ST2320L has a huge problem with excessively high gamma. This creates a ‘bleached’ image that leads to overpowering whites and lacklustre colours that are particularly ominous in the game titles we tested.

Whilst it is possible to reduce the gamma using in-game settings and on the desktop using custom ICC profiles (i.e. calibration) this actually leads to a dull looking image with unacceptably low luminance (indistinct colours), poor contrast and still elements of bleaching.

…based on what we have tested we cannot recommend the ST2320L.

Like I said, better to spend a bit more and get a quality Dell Ultrasharp when they're on sale - it's a much better value investment considering people don't change monitors very frequently.

  • These are good monitors for the price and for office use, I have 14 of these in my business and they do a good job, but you will notice the difference next to a high end monitor. Wish I'd gotten them for this price!

  • I have the Acer 23 inch monitor at work and if this Dell is anything like that (and sounds like it is) then avoid it. The viewing angle is so bad i have to dip my head to see some things at the bottom of the monitor. In the app I use there are some parts where the highlighting is gray and you can't see the difference between white unless you dip your head. And I'm not a fussy customer when it comes to monitors, I just use business apps
