  • Normally they send a youtube clip of upcoming "massive" deals… None for todays deal?

  • For CotD deals — please post after the deal has become available for us to get the correct image.

    • roflmao - I see 'Ultra Sleep' on the pics, not 'Ultra Portable'..

  • The HP deal is for the MiniNote:

    8.9" screen
    120Gb HD
    1.6GHz processor
    webcam
    wifi
    bluetooth
    Vista

It's not up on the site yet. Unsure of price.

  • It's ON now

$699 plus free shipping by paypal..

    but hmm…

    $699 for 8.9" ?? I probably still choose MSI WIND 10" for under $600

    • At almost $700 you're getting into 15" Dell territory. This unit does of course not target the same market segment but price still seems above its direct competitors. Is there enough extra value in this unit to warrant the price?

  • While other notebooks in this category look and feel like they should be sold at Toys R Us, the 2133 comes across as a serious business computer at a price that’s unbelievable.’ - http://www.notebooks.com

That comment pretty much sums it up for me. This thing is rock solid, feels like a mini macbook pro in your hands.

    • Whats the massive bonus for paying by paypal?

    • Is such blatant self-promotion allowed on this site (in the form of comments)?

  • It's built very well but the 1.6GHz Via processor struggles with Vista - especially with only 1GB of installed memory.

    • Agreed on that. Would be an overall more attractive deal if it was running XP given its CPU and RAM spec.

  • I'd also like to know what this 'massive bonus when you pay with Paypal' is.

    • it's a massive 'little mini usb mouse' :) (and free shipping) .. lol

  • HP 2133 has aluminium shell and as it has been said before, it feels like a mini Macbook Pro. It's 8.9" LCD also runs at 1280x768, whereas Eee PC 1000(H) has 10" LCD but at lower resolution (1024x600). Build quality wise I think it is a superior machine, but VIA C7 and Vista are let down I think. Would be better with Ubuntu but then you can't stop feeling being ripped off by paying the Microsoft tax.

  • It's a no for me. The CPU is the killer. Otherwise great potential with this machine.

  • I am bummed out. I need a new laptop, and I was waiting with baited breath for htis deal to come out this morning…. Didn;t think the price was that cheap though and processor is slow, and memory small… so I am giving it a miss too. I was looking for the massive bonus too… I think it's the notebook mouse….. Hmmmm…

  • Scotty,

So am I right in thinking that we're not allowed to post previews of deals?

The only reason I posted this was because I thought perhaps a mega deal was imminent and wanted to share the info with others. Apologies if I flouted the protocols of this site.

    • Probably not in the case of CotD because their promotion email sent out at mid night is usually very vague. Moreover, our bot tries to fetch the image from their site within 5 minutes of posting and it is likely to fetch the wrong image (of current deal)…

We do welcome people to post deals that are already shown in catalogues but the sale has not yet started. Just that in the case of CotD their promotion email is usually not very clear what exactly are they selling on the next day.

    • thanratt, don't think people here like preview deals (without price) that much. I've learnt my lesson from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/5248

      • Yes Pauly, I have noticed. It seems this site has lots of strange protocols that you must adhere to - bit odd I think considering you are only trying to help people save money. I must say it does seem hard to impress anyone here. Personally, I'm grateful to anyone taking the time to post a deal which will alert me to the fact that I could save money. Doing on an analysis on the product offered, whilst helpful, seems to result in much negativity - an aspect of the site I really dislike, but certainly a common theme with some on here.

Not sure if it's just me, but I certainly sense a degree of hostility here and I have been thinking over the past 2 days that perhaps that's why the posted bargains seem pretty thin on the ground of late. When I do come across a 'bargain' I will no longer rush to post it here - very wary.

PS - I've probably posted this comment in the wrong place!

        • Scotty… Couldn't there be a section under the forum or something for "upcoming deals" to keep everyone happy?

I mean getting info about upcoming deals can be good if you are about to buy something but then find out that a great deal is possibly on its way. There's no harm in too much info….

          Just a thought anyway!

  • OK i was about to buy this becuase it looks better than my msi wind, however when i saw the video reviews about the super reflective screen, it changed my mind. The guy was sitting under a tree in the shade, and all he could see was a relection of himself on the screen LOL. Aparently it's very hard to see the screen out in the open world :(

    also it's a 1.6ghz via not 1.6ghz atom like my wind ^^

i got my white wind for $580 so i'm very happy
