    how does 1,440p work on a 24"

    really tiny text? 150% zoom?

    • much less PPI than a 27 4K, and that is easily usable at 125%

    • +1

I have both. For coding. 2k 24" is fine at 100%. 4k 27" I have to have at 125% even with reading glasses.

That's bloody cheap. My secondary monitors are currently 1080p TN.

    Bit the bullet, thanks OP!

    • Bit the bullet

      can be fatal.

  • Does this support G-sync ?

    • Specs show Freesync support, but no explicit g-sync

      • Don't see many claiming G-sync support.

        • +3

To add g-sync support, manufacturers need to buy an additional chip/module from nvidia to provide the capabilities.

Freesync, on the other hand, is based purely on the VESA adaptive-sync specification, so has no additional hardware overhead cost to provide it, merely support in the monitors firmware.

          • +1

@fudge01010: Freesync works with NVIDIA G-Sync.

            • +1

@Clear: Was going to say that I had read that. But 10 series and above right?

              • -2

@rhino015: G-Sync goes back to the 600 series.

                • @Clear: It's only available on Freesync monitors for 10 series and above

                  • -2

@OblFa: Instead of downvoting read what I said first. "G-Sync goes back to the 600 series.". I didn't say anything about Freesync. Instead perhaps… G-Sync goes back to the 600 series but Freesync only works for the GTX 10 series and above.

    • Nope. Not for $199

      • +3

So when this monitor is full price, it does support G-sync?

        • Even at double this price you're not going to be getting G-Sync on a QHD IPS panel.

          • -2

            @Viper8:

you're not going to be getting

            Not even on OzBargain?

        • Yes it does. NVIDIA G-Sync has been compatible with Freesync for a very long time.

          • @Clear: Thanks for clarifying Clear…

Do you have any links the explain that further?

Do you lose some features if it is not specifically a G-Sync monitor?

            • +2

@jv: Plenty in the old Google. It's been a feature since mid-January 2019 and you just need to enable G-Sync in the NVIDIA Control Panel and select the monitor. G-Sync monitors are better than Freesync due to stricter requirements resulting in things like better performance. This Google Doc has a massive list of FreeSync monitors that work with NVIDIA and any issues people have experienced.

I have a 27" ASUS Freesync monitor @ 165Hz and it works flawlessly with my GTX.

    It's 14ms response time 0_o

I just need a second monitor for watching videos etc so this is probably perfect since it's IPS , but I just don't know if I can buy a 14ms monitor

    • Sorry to ask but what does 14ms monitor mean?

      • +1

look up a youtube video or website to fully understand but basically it takes 14ms for a pixel to change colour. most gaming monitors are between 1-5ms.

    • +2

Agree. If you're going to have 14ms response you should include a TV tuner and sell it as a TV. :P

    • +5

Here's a breakdown: at 75hz you do the maths of 1/75hz = 13.33ms between frames. If your response time is higher than this you will experience "ghosting" which is like a trail when there's moving scenes. Ideally you want a real response time half that as some colours have higher response times.

However, it should be noted that response times are not reported accurately and are a meaningless term. Some 12ms monitors are in fact faster than 1ms monitors when actually tested as there is no certification standard.

But a cheap kogan monitor is likely using a bottom-end panel with iffy response times. If it's willing to admit it's 12ms, it's likely even higher. There are some technologies that address ghosting built in to the monitors but they still introduce visual glitches. I'd spend the extra $80 for a proper 1440p monitor if you have any intention of watching content or gaming on these.

      • +1

Yeah for my purposes (second monitor) I'd rather a higher quality 1080p panel, cheers

  • Thinking seriously about this monitor…was going to wait for the Dell deal again, but even if they do it for $239.20, the same price as last time, its still 20% more expensive, and I actually prefer the higher pixel density of the 24" inch as I am not a gamer in the slightest. Just need a monitor for general office/small business duties. The Dell deal was a 27" and I don't think that bigger size suits me. This is hard to pass up, even though every part of me is saying do not buy a Kogan!!

I'd buy it if it didn't have the Kogan label on the front.

For anyone thinking about this for gaming, keep in mind that it has a 14ms response time.
    Edit: made me laugh

watch the action unfold seamlessly thanks to the 14ms response time

Key bit being "watch" because you sure aren't gonna want to participate in it…

    • watch the action unfold seamlessly thanks to the 14ms response time

So not good for Minesweeper ???

    • +3

It should be noted that the Dell S2721D was tested by rtings as having a 17.4ms response time, which they classed as 'decent' and suitable for casual gaming.

As others have mentioned the advertised response times are pretty meaningless as the standard is ill-defined unless tested independently.

  • I wouldn't touch anything from Kogan.

Notoriously bad quality TVs / Monitors & Horrible customer service.

  • Wow this monitor has jumped back up to $449.00!

  • +1

I bought this, then asked for a refund but it got shipped, oh well I guess I won't have to fight for a S2721D.
