1 thousand dollar domestic grade vacuum cleaner that has the aesthetic profile of a decepticons dick.

Usually said by the pleb easily manipulated by marketing

i guess you've made it in life when you can drop $1.3K on a vacuum cleaner. Im sure its real nice though

    • +2

Not really. Most of the motors in these things are 3rd party (usually panasonic). It's all just marketing wank that suckers are happy to drop their cash on. Gotta hand it to Dyson, they've really cornered the 'I need to impress my friends with my overpriced but aesthetically pleasing fan/vacuum/hairdryer' market. More power to them

      • What do you Dyson haters recommend then? I have a Dyson V6 that I paid not much for.
The convenience of it is amazing, I'm all for the stick vacuum life.
But I imagine it will be time to upgrade in the next year or so.

        • I'm not a Dyson hater just like a cleaner look
          I like my dreams V10

Fwiw I have a Dyson V8 in the garage and they are comparable

        • Dreame t20

      • I'm pretty sure dyson makes all their motors themselves. Their digital (brushless) motors have always been a big selling point.

        • Nope. Check out Ave's tear down on the blow dryer. It was a brushless motor by Panasonic inside iirc.

          • @krisspy: just went through the video, i must have missed it, which point did it say it was a panasonic?

No one here in their right mind would buy one at full RRP…it's a sin as OzB member..

$1102.45 @ TGG ebay pickup better deal.

    • Anyone know if Myer will price match this? I have gift cards i want to use

We went from v6 to v11, on medium settling it’s basically the same sucking power and the heads are nearly exactly the same, only real benefit is the max mode lasts a long time so you can actually vacuum more then one carpet room.
I think the v11 is kinda pointless if you have a vinyl/hard wood floor.

    • Good point the cheaper models are fine for hard floors however if you have carpet the v10 / v11 are much better - both power and battery life

  • Curious on Opinions on:

Dyson v Miele ? Unbiased if possible

    • +1

according to this youtube channel, Dyson has the best suction of all hand vacuum youtube

    • Hand vacuum I believe the dyson v11 is rated at 185AW, which is the highest in the segment. Most of the xiaomi ones are 120-150AW.

If you have the money V11 has the highest rated power for a hand stick.

Miele makes better dorded vacuums imo. Or a numatic henry

  • Use the $1300, get a v7 and a Robo vacuum for around $400, should still have plenty of change left.

OzB whilst Robo vacuums and v7 for the hard to reach areas.

  • I'm a bit stuck: together with my bf and his sister we want to buy their parents a cordless vacuum for Christmas - but his sister is a major brand whore, and won't settle for anything other than a Dyson, and probably at least a v10 (she was insisting on the v11 for better suction power and battery etc, and they do have a lot of floor space (tiles and wood though, no carpet) to cover).

Whilst I do have a Dyson at home and I love it (v7 and it was only $330 though), how do I justify buying 1 vacuum for $1200??! (or 1200/3 I guess)
I would go with the xiaomi dreame if I could. Or even buy three or four v7&8s!

Not sure how to talk the sister out of it, although it would be nice to gift them a top of the range item. But this product is definitely not worth that price, right??

    • major brand whore

Sounds like for an ego boost?

Not sure the benefits of more suction power on hard floor, if something is really stuck, scrubbing or wiping would be the way to go.

Perhaps a robo vacuum so she doesn’t have to do the vacuuming, should work well on hard floors in particular.

      • The v10 / v11 are wasted on hard floors. The only benefit is longer battery on max mode. The cheaper models are fine if you don't need to use on carpet. If you buy from Dyson you have 45 day money back option which is good if they want to swap to another model.

You don’t justify for gifts. Sounds more like a relationship issue than an objective model performance issue.

You and bf can fork out the $330 for a v7 and the sister can top up the rest if she wants to insist on v11

If someone is gifting me a Dyson I’ll keep my mouth shut and not be a choosing begger
