[Back Order] HP Envy 13-AY0106AU X360 13.3" Full HD 2-in-1 Laptop (512GB) $1528.30 @ JB Hi-Fi

70

This is incredibly cheap for the ryzen 7 4700u model. Although it is only 13" keep in mind that the 13" (72% nstc 300 nits) has a better screen than the 15" (250 nits 42% nstc).

I'm not sure if there is any other method to play around with such as gift card and cashback etc to push this price down lower.

  • I feel incredibly poor cos I can't even afford a AMD 4 series and 5 series just got announced today :(

    • And 4th series is the newest for mobile processors. What got announced today is the 4th series for desktop but it is named in the 5000s

      • +3

Actually you are incorrect. Ryzen 4000 mobile, also known as Renoir, is the 3rd series. It starts with the Ryzen 3 4300u and goes up to the Ryzen 9 4900H. The mobile CPU architecture is equivalent to the Ryzen 3000 branded (3100 to 3950x) desktop CPUs, which was first launched in 2019. AMD launched the 4th series of Ryzen desktop today. I'm assuming they called it 5000 and not 4000, because when mobile 5000 branded CPUs launch later on there will be more synergy with the brand and less confusion.

  • The top AMD 5 series has 16 cores and 32 threads, WOW!

    • What? Desktop. Mobile series won't even be announced for months yet.

Maybe even longer given that this just came out this year and still is experiencing supply issues

        • True it was announced March 2020 I think but laptops with 4xxx series only came out July 2020

Amd 5 000 are desktop processes. They are the 4th generation of processors named in the 5000. For desktop they skipped 4000. This is a laptop so the 4000 mobile processors are the newest

      • I am still confused between AMD desktop and AMD laptop processors. ELI5 plz?

        • In any processors amd or Intel, there are two different types. One for mobile and one for desktops. The reason they are different is because mobile processors use less electrcity, create less heat and often contain intergrated graphics.

    • Until they launch a Threadripper version which will most likely be 64 cores and 128 threads.

    4800>4600>4700>4500

4700 is better than 4600 and 4700. Yes 4800 is better due to the hyperthreading but the envy x360 doesn't come with it.

      • 4600 is better than 4700, 4700 doesnt have hyperthreading, many videos can prove that

        • Correct. Cpu passmark scores reflect that which is why I got the S540 with 4600u few weeks back.

Still having sleep issues with it that Lenovo can't fix, but guessing it's an AMD problem cos seems to be stacks of folks out there with sleep/ hibernation / battery drain issues.

@adrianhughes1998: Sorry to hear that you are having issues. I have no such problems with my Ryzen 4800u version of the s540 13. No problems with sleep or battery life. The only thing that I did differently was install Win 10 Pro from scratch and install the drivers separately. I now get up to 13hrs whilst just web browsing at 60% brightness. Performance is great too! I get a Cinebench R20 Score of over 3900 when connected to a power point, and over 3700 on battery when set to performance mode via BIOS. That's faster than most beefed up Intel gaming laptops with horrible battery life, versus my 13" thin and light.

            • @shellshocked: I remember you haha, fair point about the laptops. i did a fresh install from Media Creation Tool of Win 10 Home (then all the drivers manually from Lenovo website), and that didn't fix the issue unfortunately. I did try it in Safe Mode and all the drivers work fine, so it's some Lenovo program or driver that's causing the conflict. Not sure which one it is, but have an inkling it's that.

Battery life has improved now to 6.5 hrs at 60% brightness with web browsing. Hopefully things get better as I don't want to send it back, as no other brand has specs this good (they're at least 5-$600 more than the $1200 I paid for the Lenovo

  • Bought one of these yesterday with the 5% off coupon, really nice little computer. Check in store because there was a display model at the store I went and they found one at another local store. Also consider the Ryzen 5 one.

    • Yes, it's 300 dollars cheaper. Btw since you brought it can you report whether it feels and looks "premium" give that amd often gets neglected and placed in crappy plastic machines

      • It feels fairly solid to me with a nice keyboard, almost no deck flex and generally feels premium. Only issue is the display hinge isn't very firm which I guess comes with the territory of a folding notebook. Definitely feels as good as the much more expensive Spectre models I saw on display and much better than the Lenovo Flex notebooks imo.

        • Whats the temperature like??

          • @Homr: It's been running fairly hot but it's been installing a bunch of software and updates so to be expected, seems to run fairly cool with regular usage when nothings in the background though.

  • how can 4600 be better than a 4700?

    • The 4600U has 6 cores and 12 threads while the 4700 has 8 cores and 8 threads

      • thats madness, is 4600u cheaper than 4700?

        • The 4600u and 4800u are Lenovo exclusives at the moment.
