Supercheap Auto Damaged My Car

Hi ozBargainers,
I was at SCA Lakemba last weekend and just before I was about to leave after purchasing a battery from the store, one of the SCA staff member damaged my car as he was packing things up. He bumped a traffic cone-like item against my car. I have a video footage showing the incident identifying the staff member and photo of the damage. There's a scratch mark the size of a 50c coin on my bumper. Unfortunately it's not something where a typical scratch remover product is able to remove due to the depth of the scratch it appears. I am looking to seek compensation for that incident.

I've made contact with their headoffice on Monday regarding the incident. They have yet to respond, assuming they ever will. What do you guys believe is the best way to proceed?

Thanks
Berry580

        • it doesn't automatically mean their employer can go around carelessly damaging your car.

          • @Dotherightthing: Never ever did I say that dingus I was notifying people most places are exempt of damage in carparks, like I said in this case he was lucky he saw old mate damage his property

            • @solidussnake: Not disputing the 2nd remark of your reply to Mr Haj but just pointed out your 1st remark of that reply to Mr Haj which seems as if just because they put a sign then they are automatically not liable for any damage even if it's caused by them.

              • @Dotherightthing:

any damage that occured in public car parks they can't be liable for damage
πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ do you not see the countless signs at Westfield's carparks/Woolworths carparks always say they are not liable for damage

  • popcorn

  • Hope that kid losing his job was worth fixing the 50c scratch

    • I doubt it, that would be a unfair dismissal case, it’s an accident

Yea and during these times when sales and money is tight, businesses wouldn't be using any excuse to find compounding reasons for reducing their staffing costs.

      • Where there's a will, there's a way. The staff member didn't get sacked for damaging a car, it could've been "underperforming over the last few months" πŸ˜‚

        • "See Clint out there? He has scratched up 14 cars this week. That's an average of 2 a day. Where are you… let me see… once since you've been working with us… and on that, I'm sorry, Jaxtynn, but we are going to have to let you go due to 'underperformace issues'…"

  • Call the bikies.

  • How about uploading the video and some pics of the damage?

  • I need some traffic cones….are they 50% off at SCA?

  • What is it these days. Everyone is so quick to jump onto the net and air their grievances with strangers.

    • Nothing new about it, 20-30 years ago it was jump on to the BBS for same.

      • off to tradewars

No pics or video? I guess it never happened 😊

  • That's a bloody outrage it is

  • Supercheap seem pretty upset about their breakup with Bathurst 1000, looks like OP was victim of some misdirected rage.

  • See if they have anything in store to fix the scratch then demand a 2.5 % discount

  • Where's the dashcam

    • Hopefully attached to a window somewhere?

    • Wonder if the dashcam is from SCA…
