  Stupid question, how life changing are bike computers for general commuter cycling ? Do you end up cycling more efficiently because of seeing the numbers?

    I have a commuter and a road bike,

    I never bother with putting my bike computer on my commuter, it gets me from point a to point b without feeling tired.

    Your life will be the same.
    Efficiency will be the same… unless you're hunched down into an aero position to see the numbers on the small screen.
    Then your frontal area may be reduced (more aerodynamic).
    But if you bend too much, your bent-over power output might be lower.
    Then your ride might be different, but still, your life will be the same.

    My main use of my bike computer when commuting is to display the time so I know how fast/slow to ride!
