[Refurb] Dell Latitude 14 7400 *with LTE* i5-8365U 16GB DDR4 256GB SSD 3yr Warranty $1093 Delivered @ Dell Outlet

200

now this one is a bit of a niche deal, anyone who knows what a Dell Latitude 7000 is, will appreciate the combination of craftsmanship and top of the line components that usually go into these devices

RRP on Dell website is around $5000 (wtf) but rest assured no one ever buys these at RRP, current retail promotion sets the price at $1900+

Important: you need to select the "3Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis" warranty option to get this price. Leaving the default 3 year next business day option will result in $1259 price

you are looking at one of the best work laptops money can buy. Specs might look a bit dated, but don't be fooled, these machines are crafted and optimized for reliability and longevity, and parts availability is guaranteed for years to come.

  • i5-8365U CPU
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM
  • 256GB NMVe SSD
  • 14" FullHD panel with touch - Dell confirmed 300nit 72% NTSC coverage
  • LTE modem built in
  • Intel 9560 2x2 Wi-Fi
  • 60Wh battery with ExpressCharge (80% charge in 1 hour)
  • 1.3kg build

have fun!

anyone who knows what a Dell Latitude 7000 is, will appreciate the combination of craftsmanship and top of the line components that usually go into these devices

How are these compared to thinkpad T series?

    • +4

Dell and Lenovo position their product tiers slightly in a different way

I would say Latitude 7000 machines are something between T4xx (T480, T490 etc.) and X1?

Lenovo workhorse is T4xx, and by build and components it's slightly above Latitude 5000, but below Latitude 7000. But T4xx is plenty enough for what it is

Dell's workhorse is Latitude 5000, it's your daily durable machine to do the job. while Latitude 7000 is something you will mostly see on a desk of a manager

      • nice, thanks

        • Personally prefer T… better keyboard. (And used to be able to tank up with a 72w battery too).

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: matter of preference really. I prefer Dell keyboards for example. T keyboards are a bit too springy for my liking.

  • +1

They use these in transport for NSW. Sim card slots regularly shit themselves.

    • +1

I have a previous model 7490 and have never experienced this kind of issues, to be honest

but then again no hardware is foolproof when used in business scenario especially

for private use you'd probably treat it with more care than someone who was handed the unit from IT department, for instance

    • +1

Maybe all these refurbished units are from transport NSW with New LTE modems.

      • I sure hope not! haha

  • Reviews are positive. Only consistent con I could find was a dull display (<300 nits) but awesome battery life to negate that.

    • +1

yes, the display could be a bit brighter, I see no reason for Dell not to go with a 300+ nit panel. no reason whatsoever

    • +1

I just got off the phone with Dell, these are earlier specced models and come with 300nit screens with 72% NTSC

  • I just got Inspiron from yesterday deal and already feeling if it’s possible to cancel the order and buy this laptop. Any idea if I can cancel the order that’s placed.

    • +2

oh no, so I did end up making you doubt your purchase! haha
no problem, just chat/email them to cancel previous order. if you paid by credit card or PayPal there's a delay caused by payment matching, you have 2-3 days to cancel without issues. but getting money back might take another few days. big companies are SLOW

      • I am struggling to find their chat option.

Just from your experience this latitude is much better than yesterday Inspiron 7490 right

To Be honest my work laptop is latitude 7300

        • +1

depends on what's more important to you, Inspiron has a brighter screen and will let you do some gaming, too, I think it's awesome, and was an amazing deal to boot!
this one is purely a business machine without dedicated graphics, so not much gaming to be done, and comes with 3 years warranty for a peace of mind

          • @shabaka: I am absolutely not a gamer.. purely for business work. Mostly browser based and at max photoshop.

Yesterday one I did take up 3 yrs warranty it costed me 1300$

            Inspiron has 2GB graphic card , 1TB SSD , i7 processor

            So not sure.

            • @Samcool80: what size are you after? 13 14 15

              • @shabaka: 14-15 is perfect

                • @Samcool80: touch or no touch?

                • +2

                  @Samcool80: https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-latitude-15-55…

$929 if you step down from next business day warranty - to save you a bit more money

it's one of the best 15 inchers I have seen

just make sure you confirm with them it has a 300nit screen. the other option would be 220nit and that's a bit too dim

                  • @shabaka: Hmm I suddenly need a new work laptop. This one has a spare ram slot too. 256gb might be a bit small. I'm looking at the manual and I think these have a spare HDD slot? And the 256gb is just a board?

                  • @shabaka: So i am bit confused as the inspiron model has 2GB graphic card , 1TB SSD , i7 processor

and this latitude model is 8th Generation i5-8265U, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM but 15inc screen.. So i am not sure which is best bet

                  • @shabaka: @shabaka Can you please help in this ?

  • Good thing about OP, sharing the deal and knowledge too.

    Keep up the good work.

PS: do share desktop bargain if came across

  • What is the difference between this and the 7490?

    • Screen size?

    • +1

7400 is the next generation after 7490. Bit confusing as numbers wrapped around.

    • +1

Touchscreen, lighter (slightly), smaller, no ethernet (hence smaller and lighter), carbon lid

  • +1

Dell confirmed 300nit screen with 72% NTSC coverage!

  • +1

deal is not expired yet, read carefully you have to select a different 3yr warranty when you add to cart to get this price.

  • bought one thanks. missed out your offer for the all in one before this. chose the 14 in over the 16 in as the specs seems better. it seems to me for a retiree who is not tech savvy, the 3 year remote [basic] service is good to have in the bush. qld. near kingaroy. was hard for me to find a good laptop when I am not tech savvy. I removed the cost of extra 3 year warranty and found this L14 comparable to the other offers which had less specs. still not sure about the intel 8 gen vs the later ones, but for basic use at home for emails and surfing, the L 14 seems very capable. hope the 256 Gb is enough for these uses. thank you.

8gen Intel is still good for any general use :) hope it works well for you!

my mission really is to provide an alternative to buying retail. I know the real price and quality of hardware, and when I walk into Officeworks or JB Hi-fi and see what $1000 gets you in retail store I get extremely sad

the industry just rips people off - the only reason being that most people don't know how to get reliable hardware for adequate money. I am trying to change that as much as I can.

  • Thank you for your compassion. We live in a material world, where sheep get fleeced. Hope this will serve our basic needs better than the all-in-one and even other laptops which seem priced the same at dell after adding the 3-year warranty to compare apples with apples. It was hard to decide whether the consumer gen 10 Intel i3s were better than this one and whether the lower consumer dells were better? Your initial vostro deals also seemed to match this price after adding in the 3-year warranty. If refurb is as good as new, then that may be the bet value fore money I can get.

    • +1

10th gen i3 are still just dual core, while 8th gen i5 are quad core, they perform better.

vostro was a bit niche because it's is mostly for someone looking for high performance machine with great screen for photo and video processing and a bit of gaming, too - cheaper and better built than gaming machines in this price range

still latitude would be better built than Vostro :) and might as well last longer

  • Wonderful. Thank you for penetrating the marketing fog which confounds consumers in the interests of the free market.
