Has Anyone Here Bought KUEH LAPIS from Makan Raya? Food Quality Concern

Greetings!

Just wanted to know has anyone bought the cake because of this post
OzBargain Deal? I am eager to know if anyone has shared the same experience with me.

Unfortunately, I didn't see the rest of the story and ordered it right away as I want to try new things and want to support local business.

Next day, my flatmate tried one slice and found the problem. Guess what? I got one mouldy cake:) But the rest was okay.

I sent an email with the picture to the company, they immediately sent the refund without any explanations. My roommate was having stomach flu because of it. Also, I have followed the storage instructions carefully. They told me their courier provider has stored in the right temperature for any food borne disease to be prevented. But the food arrived at room temperature. I raised my concern with the screenshot ( Call from the driver, delivered at 10 PM), but I haven't received any reply yet.

Was not able to find any relevant information about this company either. Also, there is no manufacture date on the package.
Care to tell me if you had the same experience? I am not quite sure how many people actually order it because of the post.
Thanks a lot!

Thank you all for your kind comments. Much appreciated.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that Victoria will return to normal very soon. Physical stores are providing much better experience.

I was interested at first but baulked at ordering when the 1st cust rep became increasingly confrontational with the members who asked questions.

Was not able to find any relevant information about this company either.

I have a feeling it is just a home operation.

Dang, that jump to suggesting there were racist contributors in that thread was unexpected.

      yep most definitely home operation.
It's normal thing and very common in most of south asian countries. not so much here because of regulation and food license.
Which I don't think this business has any license at all.

Haha … that original post turned into a dumpster fire!

Some deadset speed records set in that one. 11 minutes from post to "no negative feedback". Just over 2 hours to "you're all racists".

Also, the terms imposed are a bit unreasonable and does not sound like how one would run a business. If they run out of flavours, you have to accept a credit and no refunds. I was even happy to work around this, by contacting them and agreeing to wait for a new batch if they ran out of my chosen flavours. But once the confrontation increased, I decided not to risk it.

It could well be one employee (family member? :-)) gone rogue! The principal did come back and apologised multiple times.

Can't agree more.. sadly I missed that. I suspecting they don't have food business registration either..

They clearly don't know how to run a business. Definitely home kitchen operation without any license whatsoever. Mostly thrive through word of mouth or some chat group.
