  • But Mornington Council has more rubbish than Amazon for cheaper!

  • Other than cord, would I have any problems if I get it here?

    • Not at all. I’ve bought this model from Amazon Italy before no hassles.

  • After our Creatista started leaking into the pod catcher Nespresso offered to replace it with one of these and $200 of coffee or to pay $200 to upgrade to the Creatista plus… My partner went for the former option.

Two months later we have a perfectly functional latissima sitting unplugged in the back room after she got annoyed with the cleaning process and she bought a Creatista plus anyway. Just not a fan of this particular machine.

    • What is bad about the cleaning process with the Lattissima Touch? I am looking into a new Nespresso machine and am considering the Touch

      • Cleaning process is very easy not sure what she's talking about. I've been using mine for about a year and it's really good.

        • Maybe they don't have a dishwasher, which is required to ensure all the little components of the milk holder get cleaned properly.

        • Yeah if it's ok to put in the dishwasher and cleans properly I think I'll still go with the Touch. The Creatista does look good but not sure if the frother is as convenient as I want it to be. Might do some youtube research

        • No dishwasher and just realised what she has is the One not the Touch - it's clear to me now that this is a better machine.

So no variety and it's a manual clean between each cup basically, as far as I can tell. I never read the manual.

      • +1

I guess it boils down to how much you hate spending a couple of minutes each day to keep your appliance in pristine condition. I own the black model and have used it daily for about two years and spend a total of 3 minutes making two coffees each morning.

        Custom coffee programs
I love that we can program different coffees to each button (you can customise the amount of water and coffee ratio) so that I can just press one button for my strong cappuccino and once done, I can just pop in a new coffee pod and then select the pre-programmed latte button for my partner. Two consistent coffees in around one minute with the press of two buttons is very convenient in my opinion. If I feel like more coffee or milk then I can easily top up as needed by pressing another button.

        Daily rinse
Now this is where the "tedious" part comes in: to clean, you need to hold down the "Clean" button on the milk frother so that it can flush the milk outlet pipe with hot water/steam. This takes about 15 seconds. I do it twice just to make sure it's got rid of all the milk because if it's not fully clean/clear then any residual milk in the tiny outlet can dry and solidify when you place the whole milk frother back in the fridge. (yes, you can put any unused milk held in the milk frother back in the fridge, ready to use again the next day. I basically top it up every few days)

Once the milk frother outlet pipe is cleared, you can then empty the dispensed pod/capsule catcher (I give it a quick rinse to remove any coffee water) and empty the water catcher compartment. These two steps literally take me 10 seconds and are optional. Alternatively, you can just leave the pod and water catchers where they are until you have made 6 coffees and then empty.

As I'm particular about looking after my appliances, I'll also wipe the outlet pipes with a towel to prevent any residual water dripping out onto the empty cavity where the two water/pod catchers were previously removed to be emptied, in order to prevent the drips from leaving water marks on the hard plastic base.

        Weekly clean
Once every 5 days I will wash all the parts more thoroughly. To do this I soak the milk frother parts in the milk holder with some diluted vinegar and hot water to give the inside of the frother parts a good clean because the daily steam alone will not remove the fattiness of full cream milk. After soaking for 30mins (honestly i just leave it there all day until i return from work) I then wash it with warm water and a toothbrush and place everything on a towel/dish rack to dry. It does not leave any vinegar smell/taste in the milk frother as they seem to use high quality plastics. The actual washing part only takes 2-3mins a week.

        Monthly Descaling
About every 1.5 months (depends on how often you use it I think) you'll need to do a descale process which takes about 30mins requiring only 2 button presses. It's quite a simple process: you put in descaler solution/vinegar in the water tank, fill it up with water, connect the included descaler outlet pipe, put a large container under the outlets to catch the dirty water, press the start button then come back 20mins later to empty the dirty water and fill up the tank with fresh water and press the button to continue and flush with the fresh water. After 10mins you just empty the dirty container again and fill the tank up with fresh water ready to use.

So as you can read, it does sound like quite a lot of steps to clean it but I've got the routine down to just minutes a day and that's only because i like to clean it daily. You can get away with that for a few days if you only make one coffee each day. The minimum is that you need to manually hold down that "clean" button for 15seconds to flush out the milk frother outlet pipes at the end of each session. You can also use the dishwasher instead of the vinegar soak/scrub method to reduce the effort even more!

All in all these simple steps are a small sacrifice for me to get consistently good coffee the way I like it each morning but if you really hate cleaning then owning this coffee pod machine might not suit your routine? Hopefully this info helps you make an informed decision. Sorry it's so long.

        • Thanks for that. I own a Nespresso Pixie and looking to upgrade so pretty useful information. The cleaning and preparation of a coffee bean machine is a lot more effort. I did consider it (as I love coffee) but I think I'll stick with the Nespresso Touch

  • What is the reason for expensive pod machines
Once you're nearing the price point of an actual coffee machine that takes beans

    Genuine question

    • Convenience. It's easy to put a pod in the machine and press a button. Especially when you need to make more than one coffee at a time.

      • +1, also my partner hates the smell of coffee grinding/beans so a Nespresso machine is a middle-ground

    • Also the cleaning process is much easier than the normal bean machine. The bean machine that can self clean is at least couple of hundreds more than this one.
