  • 40" FHD would look pretty terrible right?

not really always. It really depends on the content you are planning to display. It is easier to downscale (4K to 1080p) and often results in a better quality picture than the upscale (1080p -> 4K). Upscaling needs a good implemented algorithm to deal with blending or else it will cause very clear blocking.

Also my 2nd 720p Hitachi Plasma actually produces picture quality whilst watching FTA TV even better than some of the crappy FHD screens out there.

Not at all (unless sitting a PC monitor distance)

  • Very interested in this, love if anyone has feedback on TLC tv's - likely get this or the BigW brand EKO 40" for $379 or 32" for $299

    • TCL is a real manufacturer, not just a badge like those others, for what it is worth.
Not the cheapest, but at this size/price I'd go with the best warranty/returns service.

A year ago, we had the TCL 50" UHD for a lower price than this :-(

Where's all the bigger tv's on prime day eh ??

Amazon AU don't list many TV's really

I find the AU site to be pretty trash overall, navigating it is a bloody nightmare & the American site isn't much better.

It didn't seem too bad a couple years ago but they've changed the way searching works & now I find completely irrelevant junk when looking for something specific. Not to mention how clogged it is when doing a category search.
