Waiting for the 85" C8K to hit below $3K. Might be a long wait.

      • Every report says the C8K is ahead on all measures.

I can afford to buy an 85" C8K today but in true Ozbargain tradition I will wait until it is a sub $3K bargain as my 65" plasma will keep me going.

        • Depending on your plasma it might not even be as good picture quality!

Sas these in store recently. I own last years tcl mini led and think that's unbelievable. These are a step up again. Comparable blacks to the lg g5 oled in the moderately bright store, zero blooming, much brighter, and no burn in risk? God, my life for one of these in 42" to use as a monitor!

That said the latest gen lg g5 oled is astonishingly brighter than the g4. Finally a potential option for a livable living room. With, you know, windows. Sun. Maybe even fresh air.

The videos they play on demo tvs are made in a way to avoid showing any imperfections. They will never run subtitles on dark backgrounds so you can't judge blooming just by watching the demo.

Blacks are definitely better but still below oleds. But your comments on longevity and brightness are valid.

The one area I saw visible improvement is the viewing angle, massive difference from last year's model. I just hoped they had the newer chip(800) instead of the older one.

No doubt they do pick content that highlights their strengths, but I received my 85c8k during the week and I can't see any blooming. Even with white text on a black background.

Maybe it's me not seeing it back to back with an OLED to spot the differences, I don't know.

      • I mean, sharp edges on bright content are sharp edges. Perceived blacks in a light room are perceived blacks.

The oled black king argument is over, to me. If the content next to it is three times brighter, its going to (and does) look the same in a livably lit room. The blacks on it are deeeeeep. I've got a top end alienware pc monitor and I can't stand the ips glow on it anymore, lol. I would absolutely froth it if tcl brought out a mini led 40" at this level. Immediate froth. No questions. Pure froth.

Also factor : In the same size it's less than half the cost. I think that widens even more at the top sizes? That's a wild gap that is very hard to justify this year.

Isn't it wild that it's TCL who've achieved this? For so long it was samsung, sony, lg, for the top end. Period. Two generations now that tcls not just a competitor, but possibly on top, in that segment.

  • C6K at $1535, is the C8K worth the additional $800?

    • C6K is a matte display, good for direct lighting situations in your loungeroom

    • Just bought the C6K for 1555 from GG including delivery.

  • I had a chat online and they managed to reduce the price to $2250 + Delivery. Up to 3 Gift cards can be used but cashback would not work.

Bing Lee has it for $2396 but you also get 10% back in Bing Lee gift cards too

She did say the quote is valid until the end of the day

Was this from chadstone shopping centre or superstore? Might drive over and give it a shot.

    • That is insane price, I just tried on JB chat and they refused to go down that low, quoting it is below staff price.

      • Where abouts in Victoria are you?

          • @CodeXD: Head to jb in frankston that's where the quote is from, I had to make another account I can only post 5 in the first 24 hours

            • @Rofllauren2: Can you DM me or turn on your DM

              • @CodeXD: I can't DM as accounts less than 24 hours old are restricted. If you wanna dm me your phone number I'll message you

    • Amazing price ! I could only get it down to 2.1k from JB

      • What is good guys door buster deal?

  • We just bought the TCL C8K 65 inches for $1250 at The Good Guys last weekend. Price matched with Retravision I think and we bargained more and the guy said ok as we coupled it with the latest TCL soundbar Q85H Pro. The TV is really good and the specs are higher than the C6K or C7K version. My advice is to go all the way to C8K as it is on sale now at TGG and HN. Try and bargain further if your luck is good. The TV is the latest release in May 2025.

I won’t recommend the soundbar (having problems with it) I would recommend the TCL C8K. Audio is by BANG & OLUFSEN. Below are some of the specs.

    QD MiniLED / QLED
    · Precise Dimming (Full Array 1680 Zones)
    · Audio by BANG & OLUFSEN
    · HDR10+ / 4500 Nits Peak Brightness
    · Border-Free Vision
    · CrystGlow WHVA Panel
    · 288Hz VRR / Freesync Premium Pro
    · 200 CMR
    · Google TV / Chromecast Built-In
    · Netflix / Stan / Amazon Prime / YouTube

Highly recommended the C8K series. We are happy with our purchase.

    • Great buy

  • 75inch arriving today, would like to mount to wall, any tips appreciated

    • +1

We bought the mount from the good guys as well and got our friend to mount it. They’re cheap as well. Different size for different tv sizes.

      Yours is the C8K too?
