Do you get free sun tan by using this?
what does that mean?
FYI - I don't think this is limited to Victoria (or Perks either). JB just has a flat 15% off promotion against all LG OLED TVs until 29 July.
I was surprised it hadn't been posted, but the individual deals are not that attractive compared to ATLs, but I guess better than nothing? This does appear to be ATL for this model :)
OP, 42" C5 is $1,695, $300 off.Thanks, i know appliancecentral is $1,580 currently. I'm waiting for the $1,200~ clearance prices
$1,507 at Retravision with RAC number
Is the C5 that much better than the C4?
this is like a monitor with a tv aerial port :D
PSA: no VESA mount
Yea that’s a no for me dawg 👍
By the way - this is an absolute banger of a screen if you can accomodate the stand on your desk. I've had Alienware QD displays, MSI QD, LG 5k2k, Samsung G9… overall, all things considered, this is the one I'm going to keep.
So what are the advantages over those other displays that you value the most?
I'm interested to hear what you think this does better than the LG 5k2k GX9, apart from price ;)
I actually hated the LG 5K2K. That's probably the only monitor I wouldn't buy again. I loved the form factor, but that's about it. Colours were washed out (probably due to the matte), even after calibration and firmware updates. Pros/cons by screen (for me and my uses, mostly open world games and spreadsheets).
LG Flex
Pros - nice big screen, glossy, good colours, curved, good-enough-for-some speakers
Cons - only 120hz, no PD/KVM, not quite QD colours, massive stand, no DPMSI 32in QD OLED
Pros - glossy, great colours, KVM and PD
Cons - small screen, PQ not quite as good as the Alienware IMOAlienware QD Oled 32in
Pros - amazing picture quality, sharpness, colours
Cons - No PD/KVM, only audio out is HDMI Arc, small screenSamsung G9 - not the form factor for me
Hmm I kinda hate the glossynes of my C3. The reflections make it hard to see stuff in dark mode. I wish I had matte display.
@WavesOfWaves: On others words: The reflections are so bad you have to think hard where you setup your workstation.
I literally had to have that in selection criteria when picking a house. No window or light coloured wall or door behind me with sun shining on it. I miss my previous matte monitor but when I bought the C3 it was the only option for affordable 42" 4k OLED.
Recently bought the MSI after a previous razor 27 inch. So totally agree with your pros, yet at this point still think 32 is big. I guess I’ll get used to it eventually and want bigger. It is the way.
Cheers for the comparo notes.
I’m about to try a HP Omen for $1300 - the closest price anything with KVM, USB C PD and glossy has come is the MSI 321 for 1550. Am coming from a G8 glossy 34 UW
Main thing I’m worried about is driving 4k with a 4070, and that chewing at me leading to spending more on a GPU upgrade. Will just keep playing older AAA titles and/or dial settings back with DLSS performance until Black Friday, or new year when green supers are due to release.
If I hadn't bought an Alienware AW3225QF I 100% would have gone down this route.
For a second monitor I was going to be looking at a LG C5.I got the 48 inch Aorus F048U. Had to buy a 90cm deep desk panel and a fancy monitor arm.
Quick qn. Accommodate the stand? It doesn't look that hard to accommodate on any desk so not sure what I'm missing :D
Might just mean the whole thing. You do need a deeper table otherwise you may be too close and need to crane your head and neck side to side to look at things.
I think a TV or monitor of 16:9 aspect ratio having a curve screen is unnecessary and silly. Curve screen is more suitable for 21:9 aspect or wider.
Completely disagree. If you're sitting close to it, and it's 32" and above - I can't use a screen without a curve anymore. It just looks wrong.
*edit - I think it's more about screen size and distance from the screen than aspect ratio.
Can I use this as a computer monitor?
I mean i suppose so
Yup, no displayport though. No KVM, no usb-c, no USB-PD.
Do you know if the text will look sharp like on a regular monitor?
Look into the subpixel layout, use cleartext tuner, and then play with the text scaling settings in windows - you will never notice
I've got a 48 inch display. Text looks sharp with glasses on.
It will be fine, I use the 42inch C4 and its good enough for work. No colour fringing visible with/without glasses on.
I think the last post was $5400 with $3000 off making it the same price, so I guess this is the normal price
Isn't $5400 - $3000 = $2400?
Ok sorry something like $4,400, anyway you can check the rapidly decreasing posts for it, started At like $6000 this time last year then a couple of months later $5,500 then a couple of months later $4,500 then a couple of months later $3,000, then a couple of months later $2,500, then a couple of months later $1,999, then a couple of months later $1,666, and now $1,440. So yeah.
Bad maths
None available in Brisbane from what I can see. Can’t deliver to Newstead. Bummer
Sorry, im confused by your comment: "I dont have the desk space for the flex so im waiting for a 42" C5 sale"
Do you mean the LG 42" OLED EVO Flex is bigger than the 42'' C5?I thought they are both 42''?
Flex would take up more depth of your desk due to the curve; and the stand adds quite a lot of depth compared to the C5 (which can also be VESA mounted, don't think the flex can be.
With this unfolded, i.e. flat, how close can you get it to a wall? Trying to compare to my lg c2
No VESA mount and the stand extends quite far behind the panel compared to the C2, so probably not suitable if the stand of the c2 only just fits in your setup.
Thanks mate, the c2 fits fine but yeah just a standard 70cm deep desk. I'll try find the specifics as I do think gaming would be slightly improved with a small curve at this screen size.
yea mate fa sure
Imagine several of these put together for a racing sim.
you can do it cheaper
also for racing sim you what super high refresh rates and there are plenty of those for super cheap, no need for flatness option ya know
Super high refresh rates are not important at all in sim racing lol.
You're turning a big ass steering wheel relatively slowly and smoothly through corners. Not even remotely the same as snap aiming a 60 gram mouse for headshots.
These cant be mounted to a racing rig so that ain't happening.
congratulations, hahaha everyone knows that already
….well don't they?
Does anyone use the flexing function of these ?
No idea where the last stock is - I think this deal is well and truly OOS. I jumped on to check when it first appeared and there was none. Assuming JB sold their last 2 units lol. Time to take this down.
Also I tried to get VideoPro to price match as they have stock but they wouldn’t. VideoPro are so bad I don’t know how they are around. They have zero interest in competing with the big boys but have zero point of difference from what I’ve experienced. It’s just - you pay more for everything.
ATL?
