  • I sometimes wonder if this change is partially due to many people not using their "Scan and Go" app as one cannot check out and pay using e-gift cards. I refuse to use the app for this reason and the store manager I spoke to noted that it was a common complaint (at my store).
    ALSO
The extra time it takes to check out for users fumbling around trying to use Egift cards. Just not worth their time and effort?

    • For fuel?

      • +1

I use it for fuel. When you are using $8k worth of fuel a year, 5% is a decent $400 savings.

    • Scan and go is only available at 20 stores in Australia (hadn't even heard of it in WA, had to look it up) so unlikely.

I don't think I've actually ever seen another shopper paying with a gift card, granted doesn't mean much as not something I'm really looking for but just don't recall ever seeing it while waiting to checkout.

I'm guessing that they still get a percentage of free money from cards that are lost, forgotten etc that makes it worthwhile for them.
