Cheapest Parcel Post Australia Wide under 500G, Ships to PO Box and Work Address

Hi, I am restarting my glass painting business as a side income, something I abandoned long time ago but I have since found a new painting which is odorless and it shouldn't affect my health.

Question is it appears I am struggling to find a parcel service which has cheaper sending options. All items will be less than 500g, all will be packed in small boxes, so it can go into Satchel or have custom labels printing on them.

But the problem I am facing is the cost of postage, its now all around the $8 - $9 mark and many needs really high volumes.

I estimate I should be able to get around 5-10 orders a day once its all set up.

I have had a look the following:

https://try.sendle.com/en-au/pricing

Its $8.50 for any volume but not shipping to PO Box
$7.50 if I am sending 20 or more again no Po Box
$6.48 if I am sending 200 or more but no Po Box

I have also looked at Austpost, https://auspost.com.au/content/dam/auspost_corp/media/docume…

Say if I ship 320+ items in 8 weeks this is the price I am getting are:

$7.16 to Australia Metro (ship to work and po box)
$8.50 to Australia Rural (ship to work and po box)

Is there no cheaper options for sending items under 500g? Ideally I would need to have the costs of shipping under $6 or close to $6 per parcel 500g Australia Wide.

Much appreciated

Beware that if you go with Sendle then one of their carriers is Fastway - just read previous posts on how bad they are.
Use Fastway as a delivery service and you will not many many, if any, repeat customers.

    • Thanks for that, any alternate parcel companies apart from Australia Post then? Not much options out there to be honest………….

    • Use Fastway as a delivery service and you will not many many, if any, repeat customers.

That's an exaggeration. They are one of the worst courier services but it's not like they fail every single delivery. Maybe 10-20% or lower, don't have the stats.

      • As a business that ships and receives 50+ parcels a week I consider my comment was very accurate

        • How did you come to the conclusion that you'll get basically no repeat customers using Fastway?

High failure rate? Did you switch to another courier and no. of repeat customer became significantly higher?

      • I got.a refund from Amazon after they used Fastway. My order sat across town in Fastway's depot for about a week.

10-20% failure rate is 1 parcel lost every fortnight at best assuming only 1 parcel per day.
That's not acceptable by anyone's definition. (aside from Fastway)
Fastway is one of the globe's finest misnomers. "Slow-way" or "NoWay" are more appropriate.

Maybe they realised they could no longer live up to their name? They're now called Aramex Australia.

    • Sendle also uses Couriers Please… which is up their with Fastway for quality of service.

I book all my courier stuff through Interparcel and even they told me not to choose CP or FW when booking parcels.
You literally get what you pay for.

  • Try directfreight.com.au - should be around 9 dollars per shipment, and 7 dollars if you ship 10 at a time.

    • Thanks, I will dig around, $7 is 10 going all over Australia or $7 is going to one State?

  • Look at Interparcel too. For my business I check on both sites. Interparcel is a few cents more but you can choose the courier to use - some to PO Boxes

    • Ok, I will look into it. Thanks

    • I use Interparcel exclusively
They are really good as far as follow up goes.
If you deliver to a PO Box most will charge a surcharge of around $10 usually as this is the fee Aus Post charges the courier to "deliver" to the PO Box but interparcel's system is really good at telling you which ones charge and which ones do not etc

      • Does Interparcel give you volume discount?

        • They have account managers, if you are sending a lot they can tailor pricing / discounts

we have a set 5.2% discount now, so we always pay 5.2% less than the price when we checkout

  • Mypost business local for 320 parcels 8 weeks is 5.37, do you see this?

    • Isn’t it means Perth to Perth only? And not Perth to Melbourne

      • If you are in Perth metro local means all postcodes for Perth metro
