Pay $100 More for Qantas Car Insurance for 17,500 Points, Is It Worth It?

Qantas has an offer for bonus Qantas Points if you switch over to them, however their annual premium is around $100 more expensive than Budget Direct, for like for like comprehensive insurance. Same excess.

Qantas offers 17,500 points on insurance premium of $850

However Budget Direct is around $750 premium, no points, but if I pay using my existing credit card I get 0.75 points per $ spent = Only 562 points

Is paying $100 more through Qantas worth the 17,500 points you reckon?

Nah, get a Qantas point credit card
Westpac is 90k with first year free

    • yes I am getting that too. But want to keep maximising points on other deals aswell

      • Do you cancel credit cards after the points credit?

        • Depends on what other deals are available and if I need the card.

    • Link ? I can’t see an westpac deal where u get 90k and no fee in first year

  • No.

Depends if you are collecting Qantas points to use on flights (worth it) or on shopping (not worth it).

I'd say it's a "just acceptable" premium to pay as I rate 20,000 QF points about $100. No hit to credit rating too might be a clincher.

No. Better try that 20k wws rewards deal. Price beat plus 10k qff and 10% off.

  • Just buy Qantas wine for points. More fun

  • Qantas won’t even insure my car… looking for alternatives to Suncorp who I am currently with.
