I’m a fan of Optimum products and have used their spray wax for many years (Optimum Car Wax or OCW)

I haven’t used this tyre gel before but given my experiences with OCW and the good reviews online I thought I’d give it a go.

3.8L is a lot to try but I can always share with friends and family. The cheapest I found this size was $100 locally or $40 for 950ml

  • you can use this like armorall on your interior plastics/trim etc,.

    • Yes I read that it’s good for interior/exterior plastics as well. I personally use Aerospace 303 protectant (which is also cheap on Amazon At 300ml for $14) slightly cheaper than local.

The idea of spending $60 to shine my sidewalls doesnt seem attractive to me.

It completes the detail after a wash - You need nice clean looking Tyres to go with the nicely washed/waxed bodywork :)

It is also meant to help keep the tyre rubber in better condition - but that’s not the reason I use it.

      • 303 protectant 🤦 I don't know why it's so rated, seems like most interior cleaners that leave a close finish. Hate gloss finish interior I prefer Meguiar's no gloss interior cleaner

        • Haven’t used Meguirs no gloss but 303 to me isn’t glossy.

          Armorall is glossy!

          • @Onnzo: It's got gloss in it but no where near compared to armourall.

And Meguiar's has no gloss at all compared to 303. I prefer no gloss at all, especially in summer when wearing a tee and resting the arm on the armrest, worst feeling

3.8 l good if you have a car detailing business.

    • I have two cars and would probably use 500ml a year just on Tyres.

I’ll probably keep 1.5L myself and split the rest with friends and family.

I bought OCW (the spray wax) in 3.8L too (it’s significantly cheaper in bulk) and have converted lots of friends family so it goes pretty quickly!

      • How long does it last between each application mind if I ask?

        • I haven’t used this one yet but have read it lasts a couple of weeks. It would depend on where you park your car and what you drive through as well.

      • When you say split with family and friends that means free friendly gesture?

        • Are you a long lost friend? Hahah

          • @Onnzo: yeah man, I am your long lost friend. tomorrow the 5km limit is lifted. I will message you the address. let me know when you drop it off at my front door. cheers

Any ppl in brisbane want to go 10ths in it? It would take me forever to use all 3.8L bottle.

Very detailed video of how to apply it. https://youtu.be/AItioF_uPWc. He takes it to the next level when prepping the tyres before applying it.

Pretty sure that’s a different product. That is more like a sealant.

    • Yeah different product. The one in the YouTube video looks amazing. Lasts 6 to 12 months

    • I had a wishful thinking that the product on youtube is the same as what the OP listed however it's not.

Guess I will finish those Bowden's Own and Aero Cosmetics tyres related products I already have first.

  • Why not just use silicon spray

  • Long term happy and satisfied user of this product. No idea if the price is good as I bought in bulk so long ago. Based on my use it is potentially a life time supply?

  • Thanks, needed some more tyre gel.

    • 'straight to gel'

      undercook/overcook

I know I would never be able to use this. Each time I detail my car it will rain in the next few days.

    • +2

i think you and I must have been detailing the car on similar days…

    • +3

It’s the modern day rain dance. Wash your car.

      • +1

well, * waves around * look at this rain today. guess when i washed my car? :/

Can i get some love for export tyre shine

    • The true cost of love is probably more than any true ozbargainer is willing to pay… So no :)

    • They only last a day or two and they make the tyres look like those fitted in hotwheels

  • +1

    comparison to carpro perl?

    • I think it is similar

  • Chemical guys VRP at $52. Same stuff. Aerospace 303, the above product and VRP can be used on tires, hard plastics (interior and exterior) and rubber trims around doors, certain areas of the engine bay where there is plastic.

Don't forget to wipe down on some areas if the finish is too shiny (esp. The dashboard - a glare can be a hazard for the driver)

    • VRP is showing 71 for me

  • Down the page there are quite a few Turtle Ceramic products in big spray bottles (like a litre) which are pretty cheap too. Like this detailer (no idea of the quality, but the ICE wax has been talked up on here). Nearly a litre for $22 (and on the page for this product):

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Turtle-Wax-53413-Solutions-Detaile…

    • The best product in my opinion is the one that is easily applied and is applied often.

I’m sure the turtle wax will be comparable to the other decent spray waxes out there. I might try one of these “ceramic” sprays once i’m done with my gallon of OCW
