        • +20

          theyre made in china

and own by geely… a china company

and ALL their tech is china based given sweden doesnt do that kind of thing

        • +15

Lmao polestar is Chinese, so is volvo. Where you been hiding the last decade?

You think MG is still British?

        • +5

what you doing on ozb mate?

        • +1

@SYLTB hello, are you there???…so the VOLVO X60 is it a CHAYNA car or still a Swedish car???

        • Volvo doesn't have any self own EV technology. All belong to geely

          • +2

@Louisbargain: careful, he will have a stroke if you suggest Volvo is chinese

    • +1

Are you sure you are in the right place mate? Your comment sounds awfully racist or severe lack of basic English spelling ability.

      • +1

Hold your horses trying to bring race into things. He is tongue in cheek mimicking the slapstick Trump. Relax.

        • Oh, so Trump isn't really racist and he's just a mimicking troll too?

          • -2

@CptnObvious: Clearly everyone you dont like or agree with is racist. Bit sad having such a low bar for serious matters. Thankfully most do. Peace out.

      • +1

well, racist is common in Australia I get used to it already.

        • -2

We could be so much more. Have you been to China? Or South Africa? Maybe the problem is we aren’t being insular enough. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about even being in Australia.

    • +8

      Volvo XC60 PHEV $104000 😂

    • +1

Chayna would body slam you, if she isnt dead already

      • "Chayna Chayna Chayna"

the design is also very human

  • +13

here's one thing you might want to think about

the Tiggo 7 petrol is $30k

    the hybrid is $40k

are you likely to ever make up the difference in petrol in your total ownership of the car

the petrol one does 8/100 - this one does 1.5/100

granted it could be 0 if keep the to 90km range the battery has

or get a full EV like the new MGS5

    • +4

Yes, easily make that back in petrol in a few years if you do any serious driving

      • +8

If you do serious driving you wouldn't buy a car that will die quickly under such conditions

      • +6

i already asked my AI assistant and it says its about 100,000km

given a few variables… ie. I fixed petrol at $1.50

at $2.00 a litre it goes down to about 75,000km

so if you assume 20,000km avg. then its 3.5 to 5yrs to make it back

that is assuming its always 1.5 litres and given you will get 0 usage on sub 90km round trips

if this is your only car then yeah but if its a 2nd car then its going to be a lot less

or get a full EV lol

        • +1

The answer is always get a full EV if you can

    • +1

We have have had a PHEV for almost 2 years now. As most of our driving is multiple short trips a day, 5-10kms, with longer on the weekend we have worked out we save $5k of petrol a year.
To answer your question, we have already made up the difference.

Going forward, just how much can we eventually save until the battery has to be replaced?

      • +1

        What phev do you drive?

        • Cupra Formentor.

          • +1

@The General: how many kms do you drive per year that you end up saving $5k?

            • +1

@eddyah: well i mean let's look at the maths

              $5k means 2,857 litres at $1.75

on an avg. small suv say 10/100km that's 28,570km

over 2yrs and since you're leaning on the fact that PHEVs may use no petrol on short trips its not overly out of bounds of reality but yeah

but i mean i can you give my experiences

              i have a EV and a 2nd petrol car with a 60 litre tank… i'd probably do a tank of petrol say $100 a month… so $1,200 a year on petrol

              • +5

@tonyjzx: Yeah it's a massive amount of kms. Way more than the 5-10kms a day they said. I think General likely hasn't calculated right or is significantly understating their driven amount.

      • +1

Lol you're full of shit. Pick a random number out of thin air 5k…

        • +1

he bought cupra… prob par for the course lol

          unless he's an uber driver

    • Food for thought

    • -2

No, but the smug feeling you'll get thinking " I'm saving the Earth" every time you drive it is priceless.

    • it's a PHEV, if you charge it regularly you may not use any petrol at all

    • +1

how about the difference in driving experience? that's not free.

      • what about it? what's not free?

        • I meant to say, you are expected to pay more for better experience

          • +1

@wintersnow911: these are all shitty sludgey suvs

i mean its not like as if its a porsche macan or something nice to drive

            • @tonyjzx: the Haval H6GT is sub-5sec to 100.. it's not a Macan GTS, but not sluggish by any means

    • -1

AS per the salesman this veehickle will be worthless in 10years. So just count that into your costs. Those decent used Camrys look scmicko more and more.

    • +11

Why Ewww bro? You no like faster acceleration, smooth silent low speed driving, less petrol use and higher range between fill ups? Why bro why? Why Ewww bro? I need to know bro.

      • +11

i'd rather have a full EV

not a huge fan of half steps like hybrids but I'm a two car family so… if you have only one car then yeah maybe

      • +2

        Petrol Stinky.

Having two sets of different types of engines makes for a heavy car.

        • this isnt untrue

          this 7 hybrid is 1,780kg

the petrol one is under 1.5 ton and so you are hauling ~300kg extra

i dont care but you ask also taking care of two powerplants so i hope nothing goes wrong… this isnt a toyota camry hybrid is it

        • Heavier than petrol, much lighter than ev though with a much smaller battery.

      • Why mention faster acceleration? Everyone driving hybrids and especially EVs are crawlers. I've only ever seen two Teslas floor it a bit. I always get scared when one is in front of me.

  • +3

Ah I need full BEV for FBT exemption

    BOUGHT 5 THANKS OP

    • was looking for this comment thanks!

next 5 cars sorted for me.

Let OzBargain know when you find a 10 year old car for free

    • let me know I can buy 100000 cars

  • hummm. really needed the spec sheet but couldn't find it anywhere…

    • +1
      • thanks mate.

the 18.3kwh battery became less competent now with havel H6GT having 35 something kwh..

        • The H6GT PHEV costs $53990

          • @shxhshzhz: and it's a better car (at least by the looking)

            • @HD9990: very different design goals

the H6 supposedly does sub 5 sec 0-100 from a combined 321kW and 762Nm of power (damn)

and 180km electric range so for me its a 99.99% EV

              • +8

@tonyjzx: My grandfather has the H6GT PHEV. Delivered last month. With every electricity sapping accessory on, heated seats, music, headlights on and driving like a normal car (no baby driving), I have tested it to do 120km electric range from 100% charge to when the engine kicked in finally and stayed on and changed mode to Hybrid which is quite good as I really did not go easy on it with maximum power draw at all times with most accessories being used. Maybe that will drop to 100km EV range after 5 years / 100,000km and even then, pretty good.

I also did a 2nd test by baby driving it with no accessory's on, no headlights (day time driving), no music, no AC/Heating, no seat heating and I got 160km EV range which is astonishing as you can realistically use it as an EV car without needing to charge it every day like most PHEV's. And yes, for $55k, it is damn fast, a bit too scary fast, if you drive it like you stole it then get some better (wider) wheels and tyres for sure. It will lay waste to most sports cars off the line to 100km/h.

                • +2

@Dollar Dreamer: that's pretty good real life range. I was predicting 120kms which is more than acceptable as a daily driver. 160 is fantastic

      • +1

legend. looks like the same battery same engine. just a slightly bigger chasis

        • the weight difference isnt too huge anyway

makes sense to have the same drivetrain

      • Wth the Tiggo 8 takes premium fuel?? It's a 1.5l turbo that makes 105kw, what on earth is so special about it that it needs 95RON?

        • it means these dipshits didnt retune it for 91

i believe 91 does not exist in china but they have knock sensors that make it work fine on e10 and 91

  • +2

Makes the BEV look very expensive and merely palatable after the FBT exemption.

A 7 seater for this kind of money. Competition is on.

  • would this be a deal or technically RRP?

  • +4

PLEASE CHINA, JUST GIVE ME A LWB MID/HIGH-ROOF PLUG-IN HYBRID VAN!!!

    (EREV/series hybrid works as well)

    • +1

it's coming.. lots of MPVs. Denza will probably have one soon. Xpeng X9 is due end of year but BEV

      • +2

MPVs have seats in them. I want delivery/tradie/panel vans, to turn into a motorhome.

        • +1

sharks is your only choice… tradies in China can have tons of van options with 10k aud that is why no any hybrid van

          • @Louisbargain: I hope the Shark 7 gets a cab-chassis option, so that it can be modified into a motorhome.

            • @FujinShu: Don't need a cab-chassis - just rip the tub off and put it on the frame

        • ah. good idea for camping. Shark+caravan would be my go to until something comes along which I'm sure will

  • -1

Waiting for the Omoda 9. Just looks a bit better IMO

  • +3

A friend of mine argued that plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) aren’t a good choice because they require maintaining both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. According to him, this means higher maintenance costs and lower long-term reliability compared to purely electric or purely petrol cars.

    • Same goes to hybrid / NON plugins ?

    • +2

you want the best of both worlds, you got to have the worst of both worlds. common sense really

    • which mean you just need to service small engine and small battery System. and phev use most common technology so services is cheap.

      • if you buy a toyota hybrid then its about the same as their petrol models

but they've been doing this pre 9/11… they got it down pat

now ask yourself if you trust any non toyota hybrid let alone the chinese

        there's some 10yr old hybrids from other established manufacturers… are they worth buying… I dunno… I wouldnt

and so with the chinese being so new at this… ie. 1st gen, are they worth buying… I dunno… I wouldnt
