Any news on Tiago 9 pro max?

      • Really after 9 pro max 2025 model or 2026?

        • +3

Tiggo 9 PHEV is expected by the end of this year.

          • -5

@shxhshzhz: chery also own jaecoo who are also releasing a slew of new SUV crapboxes that are largely built on the same frame and tech

            • +4

              @tonyjzx: Jaecoo J7 looks amazing

              • @FrankTT: I had one of these (the phev) overnight last night (work in the automotive industry). Drove fairly good, suspension could use a little work. Reasonably comfortable, fairly well put together. For its size the boot was a bit small but the back seat room was huge so obviously that was the greater priority for them.

Lots of car for the money. I think if it was my money and i had to have a larger plug in hybrid, i'd take the BYD over it but it was good competition and it was specced better for less money. All this said, now the PHEV concessions for FBT are over, i'd just go a full ev.

Will they be around in 5 years time?

        • Question is, will Toyota, Mazda and Volkswagen be around in 5 years time.

          • @sim36: Yes man. They will. Don't listen to that stuuupid guy Munro overhyping everything on YT.

Legacy boys will lose some market share though.

Lmao polestar is Chinese, so is volvo. Where you been hiding the last decade?

You think MG is still British?

          • @krisspy: Nearly all Eurpoean car brands have been sold off to new owners in other countries.

            • @Dr Phil: "other countries" meaning China.

Hold your horses trying to bring race into things. He is tongue in cheek mimicking the slapstick Trump. Relax.

        • Oh, so Trump isn't really racist and he's just a mimicking troll too?

          • -1

@CptnObvious: Clearly everyone you dont like or agree with is racist. Bit sad having such a low bar for serious matters. Thankfully most do. Peace out.

          • @CptnObvious: trump isn't racist, that's just a narrative that's being programmed into gullible people

those same people seem to call everyone they disagree with racist too

unfortunately the education system failed them

            • @desync: I didn't say he wasn't racist. Are you reading too much into wat I said, like someone who education failed

      • +1

well, racist is common in Australia I get used to it already.

        • -3

We could be so much more. Have you been to China? Or South Africa? Maybe the problem is we aren’t being insular enough. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about even being in Australia.

the design is also very human

  • +15

here's one thing you might want to think about

the Tiggo 7 petrol is $30k

    the hybrid is $40k

are you likely to ever make up the difference in petrol in your total ownership of the car

the petrol one does 8/100 - this one does 1.5/100

granted it could be 0 if keep the to 90km range the battery has

or get a full EV like the new MGS5

    • +5

Yes, easily make that back in petrol in a few years if you do any serious driving

      • +7

If you do serious driving you wouldn't buy a car that will die quickly under such conditions

      • +7

i already asked my AI assistant and it says its about 100,000km

given a few variables… ie. I fixed petrol at $1.50

at $2.00 a litre it goes down to about 75,000km

so if you assume 20,000km avg. then its 3.5 to 5yrs to make it back

that is assuming its always 1.5 litres and given you will get 0 usage on sub 90km round trips

if this is your only car then yeah but if its a 2nd car then its going to be a lot less

or get a full EV lol

        • +5

The answer is always get a full EV if you can

    • +3

We have have had a PHEV for almost 2 years now. As most of our driving is multiple short trips a day, 5-10kms, with longer on the weekend we have worked out we save $5k of petrol a year.
To answer your question, we have already made up the difference.

Going forward, just how much can we eventually save until the battery has to be replaced?

      • +1

        What phev do you drive?

        • Cupra Formentor.

          • +1

@The General: how many kms do you drive per year that you end up saving $5k?

            • +1

@eddyah: well i mean let's look at the maths

              $5k means 2,857 litres at $1.75

on an avg. small suv say 10/100km that's 28,570km

over 2yrs and since you're leaning on the fact that PHEVs may use no petrol on short trips its not overly out of bounds of reality but yeah

but i mean i can you give my experiences

              i have a EV and a 2nd petrol car with a 60 litre tank… i'd probably do a tank of petrol say $100 a month… so $1,200 a year on petrol

              • +6

@tonyjzx: Yeah it's a massive amount of kms. Way more than the 5-10kms a day they said. I think General likely hasn't calculated right or is significantly understating their driven amount.

                • @DingoBilly: Yep, most PHEV owners don't understand what the real maths is behind the scenes and use their PHEV like a normal hybrid car resulting in worse fuel economy. If you actually drive 30,000km/year then you've stuffed up buying a PHEV as you should have gotten an EV. If you only drive 10,000km/year then you've stuffed up big time and should have bought a conventional hybrid car. What's the point of charging that tiny little PHEV battery up every single day when you can just get an EV and only charge it once a week? If you do charge it up every single day, what's the point of having to maintain an entire petrol drive train only to put in 2 tanks of petrol a year?

                  • +1

@supersabroso: ABC. Always be charging. So easy to do and every morning you get in a car fully charged. Cost for me is under a 1 dollar a day. It's not like visiting the petrol station. 30 bucks a month. No maintenance but tyres in 2 years. Pirelli pzero made 43000ks, replacing this week. Chinese made Tesla. Love it.

              • @tonyjzx: We were using premium, which most of the time can be $2.20-2.30 per litre. Although the prices aren't that bad at the moment, they are about to sky rocket again (with a war kicking off in the middle east). Who knows, prices could be worse than that.

            • +1

@eddyah: We worked out that we were spending about $100 of fuel a week, give or take. It may have been an over estimate, but we used that as a guide.

              • @The General: All good - I'm wondering because we do around 20,000kms/year in our Model Y and the Tesla app shows we save about ~$2K in fuel costs (and we use the 8c/kW electricity rate) so I figured you must be driving much more but then again, your car as you said consumes about 10L per 100kms (higher than normal, but OK for larger cars/utes).

          • @The General: How are you finding it? I test drove a Formentor VZx and it's super fun to drive! Very nice interior as well. The steering wheel is the best I have seen in a car except maybe a Porche.

@Naigrabzo: Loving it. The only downside is the Infotech screen. It is horrible to navigate. But I believe a new update may fix that.

              • @The General: Did you know that you can double touch the temp sliders to activate seat heating? ;)

      • Lol you're full of shit. Pick a random number out of thin air 5k…

        • +1

he bought cupra… prob par for the course lol

          unless he's an uber driver

    • Food for thought

    • -5

No, but the smug feeling you'll get thinking " I'm saving the Earth" every time you drive it is priceless.

    • +2

it's a PHEV, if you charge it regularly you may not use any petrol at all

      • We actually went six months without filling the tank at one stage. Every time we got home, we would plug it in. Very small inconvenience, but less so than having to go to a petrol station weekly to fill it.

    • +1

how about the difference in driving experience? that's not free.

      • what about it? what's not free?

        • I meant to say, you are expected to pay more for better experience

          • @wintersnow911: these are all shitty sludgey suvs

i mean its not like as if its a porsche macan or something nice to drive

            • @tonyjzx: the Haval H6GT is sub-5sec to 100.. it's not a Macan GTS, but not sluggish by any means

    • -3

AS per the salesman this veehickle will be worthless in 10years. So just count that into your costs. Those decent used Camrys look scmicko more and more.

    • +16

Why Ewww bro? You no like faster acceleration, smooth silent low speed driving, less petrol use and higher range between fill ups? Why bro why? Why Ewww bro? I need to know bro.

      • +15

i'd rather have a full EV

not a huge fan of half steps like hybrids but I'm a two car family so… if you have only one car then yeah maybe

        • -2

EV is half step to PHEV.

      • +4

        Petrol Stinky.

Having two sets of different types of engines makes for a heavy car.

        • this isnt untrue

          this 7 hybrid is 1,780kg

the petrol one is under 1.5 ton and so you are hauling ~300kg extra

i dont care but you ask also taking care of two powerplants so i hope nothing goes wrong… this isnt a toyota camry hybrid is it

        • Heavier than petrol, much lighter than ev though with a much smaller battery.

      • Why mention faster acceleration? Everyone driving hybrids and especially EVs are crawlers. I've only ever seen two Teslas floor it a bit. I always get scared when one is in front of me.

      • thanks mate.

the 18.3kwh battery became less competent now with havel H6GT having 35 something kwh..

        • The H6GT PHEV costs $53990

          • @shxhshzhz: and it's a better car (at least by the looking)

            • @HD9990: very different design goals

the H6 supposedly does sub 5 sec 0-100 from a combined 321kW and 762Nm of power (damn)

and 180km electric range so for me its a 99.99% EV

              • +12

@tonyjzx: My grandfather has the H6GT PHEV. Delivered last month. With every electricity sapping accessory on, heated seats, music, headlights on and driving like a normal car (no baby driving), I have tested it to do 120km electric range from 100% charge to when the engine kicked in finally and stayed on and changed mode to Hybrid which is quite good as I really did not go easy on it with maximum power draw at all times with most accessories being used. Maybe that will drop to 100km EV range after 5 years / 100,000km and even then, pretty good.

I also did a 2nd test by baby driving it with no accessory's on, no headlights (day time driving), no music, no AC/Heating, no seat heating and I got 160km EV range which is astonishing as you can realistically use it as an EV car without needing to charge it every day like most PHEV's. And yes, for $55k, it is damn fast, a bit too scary fast, if you drive it like you stole it then get some better (wider) wheels and tyres for sure. It will lay waste to most sports cars off the line to 100km/h.

                • +3

@Dollar Dreamer: that's pretty good real life range. I was predicting 120kms which is more than acceptable as a daily driver. 160 is fantastic

      • +1

legend. looks like the same battery same engine. just a slightly bigger chasis
