740

Upcoming deals this Sunday night, 25/10:

AOC 24G2 23.8" 1080p IPS 144Hz 1ms FreeSync Monitor - $259 delivered, 10-11pm, 50 units available, limit 1 per customer

Intel Coffeelake Core i9-9900 5GHz 8 Cores 16 Threads LGA 1151 CPU - $449 + shipping, 8-9pm, 30 units available, limit 1 per customer

The AOC is the same price as the previous deal from SE, but it's advertised as having free shipping this time.

Also looks like this will be the cheapest the 9900 has ever been on OzB (first time at sub-$500 even), so a good deal if you're still on a Z370/Z390 board.

The 27G2 was around $270 after cashback with the ebay 20%off sale the other day.

      Pixel density tho

I have a 27 inch 1080p monitor and its fine. Just don't sit 10 centimetres from it.
24 @1080p will be more than fine
I would get 1080p for any monitors above 27 inch

        • +10

          Wouldn't*

        • +2

I would get 1080p for any monitors above 27 inch

Seriously? Or did you mean to say you wouldn't?

          • +6

@MiscOzB: Sorry meant to say wouldn't, 1080p on 27 is the absolute border, wouldn't go bigger with that res

        • +2

I don't get the hate for 27" @ 1080p. I'm running off one now and for gaming it's excellent!

          • @Clear: Yeah I am enjoying mine too! I guess people like to sit 10cm from their screens now days

            • @jayboi: It's the only way they can see everything on 4K without squinting.

              • @Clear: Consider getting your eyes checked.

                • @Koppeldread: Just waiting for private health to cover for Lasik. Not long now 😉

            • @jayboi: Would 9cm make you lose more games ?

        • +6

24" max good size for 1080p
          For 27" you want 1440p

          • @Agret: I'm having second thoughts about Dell 27inch 1440P S2721dgf after moving from an AOC 4K 27inch. Gaming is incredible but I hate reading things on this Dell monitor after being used to 4K 27inch smooth fonts. I was going to sell the 4K but now I think I will go dual monitor setup with monitor arm that allows me to switch the main monitor (Bring it to the front of my view) to Dell when gaming and keeping 4K for the other stuff. I wouldn't take a 1080P monitor even for free

            • @InternetExplorer: I just got the Dell (my first 1440p monitor) and it makes going back to my VG259Q (24.5" 1080p) difficult

      • Yep recently got a 27" 1080p deal. Can confirm it's pretty bad if you need to read/type alot of text or do any type of image manipulation. I regret my purchase. For fps gaming or movies though it wouldn't be noticeable.

This must be one of the most progressive monitors going around.

    • +3

      Quiet with the politicz

      • +6

Leans a bit too much to the left

        • This monitor tends to make people unnecessarily angry.

  • Just as I was looking at getting a second AOC monitor. Gonna disappear so quickly though..

  • Wonder why ViewSonic XG2405 is still so expensive….

      Ryzen 5000 series?

      https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

For Ryzen 3000, you're still getting better value and power efficiency through a 3700X, just dealing with architectural drawbacks in very select circumstances due to minor latency issues with Zen 2.

        double takes at 5600x benchmark

        Wh Wh wha?

        • +1

Yup, they've officially submitted the 5600X results.

In terms of their benchmarks, it basically equals a 3700X/9900 for overall performance, while having having the best single threaded performance they've seen.

Not a clue why my post was negged though, some very salty customers on here these days when you 'speculate'.

better off waiting till next gen ryzen. suppose to be superior in gaming compared to nvidia.

      • +9

Wrong competitor there my dude. :P

        • +5

Right competitor, wrong product range :P

      • What are you talking about, you are so confused…lol

    • The i9 9900 is not worth it, AMD is wiping the floor with Intel.

You should wait for the new AMD Zen 3 processors, not long to go now. Or if you need it right now, look at the Ryzen 7 3700X, it was just $415 including shipping in the recent 20% eBay sale.

  • Would the AOC be any good for Xbox Series X? Or should I get a 24/27” 1440p or 4K?

    • +1

Console's outputs are 720p,1080p, 4k, 4k HDR. 1440p is something only for PC monitor. I had a cheap Sony Bravia at $950 which had 4k HDR for my ps4 Pro, HDR games looking amazing on this. HDMI2.1 is something you want to look into for new gen console but not a must.

As for monitor I have no idea, you could get one 4k but with HDR gonna be real expensive.

      • +2

Xbox series x does support 1440p. The 24G2 would be alright but you wouldn't be taking advantage of all the consoles power. Considering Xbox series x targets 1440p and potentially 4k at 144Hz. A highly regarded and recommend monitor is the Dell 27" S2721DGF, which is what I would suggest.

        • +1

I didnt know that, thanks for the info. I will pick up both Ps5 and Series X on launch.
As for ShortyX, I still would sugget you to get a TV for any next gen console, or any monitor >=27", >=1440p.

          • @linhlink: Personally I'd recommend waiting 2 weeks and see what's supported on what resolution /fps +RT

        • Does the series X definitely support 1440p output? Or just 1440p upscaled to 4k output like on the ps4 pro?

My tv can only do 1440p120/4k60 max because of hdmi 2.0 and I'd be annoyed if the new consoles only output 1080p and 4k

          I want that HFR
          HYFR

          • +1

@ChadHominem: Yes, Microsoft have already confirmed that it directly outputs 1440p at up to 120Hz , there is no upscaling or downscaling present.
