Long time lurker, first time poster, so hopefully I got the format right.

Used to buy these bars frequently couple of years ago, the taste is decent considering the high protein amount, however don't expect a delicacy. Serves as a great post-workout snack. According to stats, this price is the lowest it drops to. Works out to be $2.49 per bar

There is currently a Salted Caramel flavour on sale as well.

Not a bad deal with free delivery. Normally go on sale at coles/woolies for $2.50 each. Never pay retail for these.

  • Would this make good meal substitute for say breakfast?

    • +3

      Nope, they're supplements only.

Proper unprocessed food are the way to go for a healthy diet/life.

      • -1

        Processed foods are often nutritious.

    • I guess you could get away with it, but it is not recommended to use a 'supplement' as a 'substitute' to an actual breakfast or any meal.

    • No - there is not enough carbs in this for a good breakfast.

      • Depends on your goals though, carbs aren't an essential nutrient. Your body can make its own glucose, even if you are on a keto diet with basically no carbs at all. You wouldn't want to run a marathon at the olympics with zero carbs for breakfast, but for many that isn't necessarily a requirement.

    • I've done it before but wouldn't want to do it all the time. You really need some proper food to eat to break that fast.

Same price at Chemist Warehouse currently >>> Link

For single bars, not a box of 12.

Some stores does 5%/10% discount on purchases of 5/10 bars.

    • +1

More flavours at Chemist warehouse as well.

Last time they had the musashi sale, if you bought 10 they'd give you an extra 5% off.

    • Yeah I just bought 10 the other day at $2.50 and got 10% off. With the 10% off, 12 bars would come to $27 total

    • Thanks for sharing!! I 1% cashback on shopback/cashrewards too.

  • +2

Buyer beware - these things are very dry and dense as a motherf

    • Yes, 100% agreed. I normally split them into half half, the whole bar is just too much to go through in one go.

      • Yep agreed, I don't really like these I prefer the other brands which are around 200 calories but actually taste like a chocolate bar vs a powder brick

  • Damn these are tasty, but they give the the stomach gurgles and farts, as JV pointed out in a previous deal they contain a specific ingredient that can do this in some people

    • For me its the Maltitol or Malitol that makes me do horrendous farts. It's the sugar alcohols that do it. The best protein bars that don't seem to do it are the quest bars or smart bars. (smart bars I reckon are better but much harder to find).

      • Maltitol does that to everyone, its a cheap and nasty ingredient and you absorb 50% as sugar anyway.

The only question is how much can each person handle before it happens.

The worst thing is that 24 hours won't reset you, so if a bar is ok, but you have it every day, it soon won't be ok anymore.

  • This deal is probably more relevant as it covers the whole range for the same price

  • This one tastes good but overall profile is not good . Smart protein bar is the best in market although expensive .

  • Sounds weird but microwaving these bars make them far more tasty. Its like eating a warm brownie.

Interesting idea! might try that. Thanks

      • let me know how it goes!

works especially well for the brownie and rockyroad flavour

    • Good idea!

  • FYI, they now have a Peanut Butter flavour and its decent!

    • Second this. Peanut butter is great. Bought 3 boxes worth.
