Samsung 65" Q80T QLED Smart 4K TV (2020) - $2490 @ Appliance Central

210

I have been looking at getting a TV in recent weeks and today saw a decent deal on the Samsung 65" Q80T. I was deciding between the Q80T and Sony X950H. I ended up going for the Q80T because it's better for sport (fast motion), has HDMI 2.1 and RTINGS.com said the Q80T is a little better than X950H.

Today I was doing a browse and saw that https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/samsung-65-inch-… have the Q80T 65" for $2,516. Not bad but a few more searches revealed that Appliance Central has an even better price of $2,490 with free delivery for me in Brisbane. I don't recall seeing it that low.

I also wanted to get the Samsung 7.1.2 Ch Atmos Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer HW-Q900TXY and best price I could see is on Appliance Central for $1,006.

I price matched the TV and sound bar and bought both from Harvey Norman, with free delivery. I also got product care from HN (because I have had great experience with it) and got a surge protection power board from HN. Remember surge boards don't last forever and should be replaced every few years.

I put most of the cost on finance at HN and scored a $150 gift card, so even better! Details of their finance are here: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/customer-service/interest-fr…

Hope this helps someone.

The Sony x9500H isn’t an OLED, FYI.

    • Huh.. you are right! Thanks I will update my post

  • For comparison, I ordered a 'damaged box' 65" X9000H for $1.75k today. Was gonna post a deal but by the time I opened ozbargains there were only 2 left.

    • Link please

    • That sucks, i have been checking a few times a day to get one of those 'damaged box' in the 65". Must be all gone once again.

  • Bought a Sony 65” X9000 replaced a 55” Samsung wouldn’t buy another one. No problem with sport that I can see, the grand finals on the weekend were excellent.

Is this the one that serves ads to you ?

  • I am also considering this model. I saw powerland are doing it for $2499 free delivery. Well at least to my location anyway..

    https://www.powerland.com.au/samsung-65-series-8-q80t-qled-u…

Glad you got a price match.

  • I walked into JBhifi in Sydney after work a few days ago and they did me a deal for a LG CX65" for $3420 + $59 delivery.
Had to try a few stores.. some JBhifis wouldn't even got lower then $4200 .. best deal the Goodguys could do was $3800.. you need to find a store that isn't busy and wants the high priced sale. Whirlpool forums are great for help with price matching invoices.

Can you please share the invoice. I will try to price match with JB HiFi stores in Sydney.
I am looking to buy this TV very soon.

Can you post the receipt please? I'd love to try for a price match with my local JB or GG. $3420 is a sensational price.

      • Once the TV gets delivered in a few days I'm going to post my receipt here
        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/9kv62j03-6
I used the receipts on there already to get the deal. It wasn't easy to find a store that would do the deal and i almost lost hope… :) I will also share the store too in the whirlpool forums post.

      • The Good Guys are out of stock and won't touch the $3420 price. The $3800 was a pre order deal they were willing to do for me. I said I would rather wait for the next $3600 eBay sale price.

        • Did you get your TV delivered yet?

Still waiting for a receipt from Sydney. Whirlpool forums only have QLD receipts.
Tried 3 different stores in Sydney with QLD receipt, but no one is willing to price match.

Not bad. I got JB down to 1850 on the weekend for the 55 model for a friend

  • I got the 55 inch Q80T for the bedroom for $1798 and got a further $50 off by paying via Suncorp JB HIFI GV’s - 5% off. Suncorp now has a limit of jb hifi limit of $1000 gv’s / day / week / month and $5000 / year, so couldn’t pay the entire $1798 on gv’s with 5% off - amazing tv but now OOS on appliance central

Nicely done - best I could do was 1850 - but I did use AGL / Home / JB vouchers for a further 10% off making it a cool $1670!

The fact you got extended warranty and a power board from a conman Harvey Sales rep makes really difficult to find any positive in this deal.

    • Product care is good if you get it discounted, just got me a $450 repair on a 3 year old washing machine.

      • +1

You paid $450 for what would've been more than likely a free repair under ACL.

        • i didn't pay anything, learn to read ;)

          • @[Deactivated]: The way it reads is that you paid $450 to repair a 3 year old washing machine. Learn to write?

            • +1

              @bloopzorm9: Give specsavers a call

      • How much did you pay for the discounted product care aka extended warranty?

  • Samsung put ads in the TV menu system. Wouldn't buy another one.

Note for those who care about their eyes and are sensitive to getting eye strain / headaches from screen usage:

Don't get this TV or any TV that uses PWM especially if you're planning on using Movie Mode or Game Mode. Because screens that use PWM flicker like crazy (turns on and off rapidly seemingly imperceptible), and can kill your eyes and cause headaches. I got the Q7FN nearly 2 years ago and it's been a complete nightmare. Some people 'think' they aren't affected by PWM but prolonged use, e.g. binge-watching a TV series / playing games, I reckon it does actually cause at least mild eye strain / headaches. It's best to get screens designed with eye care in mind and not cost-cutting technology like PWM (e.g. LG OLED or Sony X800H)

You can check if a TV is 'flicker-free' here: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/motion/image-flicker#compari…. If you're in-store you can sometimes check if a screen is flickering if you record using your phone's camera on 'slo-mo' and you can see if the screen rapidly flashes on and off

More info on PWM here: https://medium.com/@iristech.co/what-i-need-to-know-about-pw…
