It is good price for those that do not want to wait for Black Friday sales and want to be prepared for next gen consoles.

I think I'll be going with this after the Sony X9000h debacle

    • +3

The debacle is the blurry text at 4k 120hz? Do we really think this is going to be an issue with anything other than a PC?

My plan was still a x9000h but I'm not needing it for another 2 months.

Ideally they'd do the right thing and fix it. I doubt the next gen consoles will push 4K @120hz, but PC input looks pretty bad.

what was the debacle? i just got one last week :(

Fingers crossed they do the right thing and fix it in a firmware update.

        • thanks for the heads up :/

          • @191919: Aside from this niggle it seems like you got a great TV and I'll likely get it now too. Deep-diving into the Rtings comparison, the reflections + viewing angles of the Sony hurt its overall scores a lot, outside of this the Sony is better in almost every metric.

      • I assume they are referring to people buying the Sony TV to use as a monitor, where Sony planned to add gaming features (4k120) to down the line, and when Sony added the gaming features it did not work well as a monitor as it was optimised for gaming not for reading text off a television

    • I've just bought a Q70T 75" but was highly consdering the X9000H before buying the Samsung. I only went with the Samsung for FreeSync as I plan to pair with a new AMD GPU. What was this debacle though? I didn't come across anything negative on the Sony when I was researching?

      • +1

As above, seems that 4k@120hz is downscaled resulting in blurry text. Lots of heresy about whether or not Sony intend to fix it.

    • Aren't they also not really the same price? Can get the 65 inch x9000h for around this price?

      • Exact same price atm, historically the 55 x9000h has been about $200 cheaper.

same price at HN, TGG, BL, if you're going to buy it i'd be going in-store & negotiating a better price

Idk why people are still purchasing these panels with rear arrays. OLED is the future.

    • OLED that’s ancient technology, Microled is the future

    • Couldn't agree more. Watch OLED and QLED side by side in as many different situations as you want and OLED blows QLED away. Given that the bright lights of a retail store should give the advantage to the QLED it makes OLED it even more impressive.

    • +1

unfortunately the future costs to much

    • +2

I'd go with price being the reason.

Ran a burn in check on my old man's 2 year old LG OLED yesterday… Multiple large patches of burn in all over the screen. If OLED is the 'future' then we're going backwards

      • +1

What does he use it for? Cricket scores burnt in or something?

    • +1

OLED is still too expensive for most people, and has too many issues with burn-in. Also there are better technologies already on the horizon, OLED won't be 'the future' for long.

  • Hdmi 2.1? Struggling in my research

For anybody sitting on the fence about buying this TV, I bought a Q80T 55inch a few weeks back & could not be happier. Spent a long time researching & for my needs (mainly gaming, but watch a lot of sport too - kids/wife also stream a lot to the TV where my wife has a habt of pausing the show she is watching for a bit) could not have found anything better as I did not want to risk burn in with an OLED. Paid less than this, check Samsung EPP if you have the ability to sign up (or find somebody with the ability to sign up).

    • Many thanks for the info - this pretty much is bang on what we'd need and use it for.

  • $1656.85 on Samsung EPP those that have access, depending which portal price may vary.
    55inch Q60 - $1,123.85
    55inch Q70 - $1,364.35

    • Tried going in via the Australian Government shop - only the 75" remains, the other sizes have been removed.

      • Wow, they were there earlier but just checked again and your right they have all dissappeared

  • Does anyone know how many JB eGift cards you can you use at one time? Thanks.

  • Includes 10% off a Q series sound bar if purchased together. Sounds good..

  • This or the CX55? Will be used for Netflix 4k, PS5, and PC gaming.

  • just picked one up from JB for $1739 delivered. Hope it's good, barely did any research.

    • Hi would you be able to share receipt? Thanks

  • Keep in mind that the Sony X9000H is much better with its local dimming in Game Mode compared to this
