    Sorry, how much is it?

    • +18

      I hate this deal because… i recall paying $1K for a 40" tv.
      I LOVE this deal… because i recall paying $1K for a 40" tv.

      • +3

my current tv is a 40" LCD and I'm pretty sure it cost around $1.6K (it was 11 years ago).

        • +1

i remember paying $500 for 20" Dell LCD monitor

wait… that's not too bad as 20" LCD still retails at $100 now

  • +2

    nice deal op!

    • +2

Bought one from the last time this was posted. Fantastic TV for the money, but adding some speakers is mandatory, the audio coming from this is truly awful unless all you're listening to is the news or something. I paired it with a Xiaomi Mi Box.

    • +34

What gave it away was it the $199 price tag for a 40" 🙄

    • yes

    • +2

No worries. Next time I’ll charge you

    • +20

It’s not that you pointed out their mistake. You also went beyond that and mocked them… It’s not necessary to put people down if you’re trying to ‘help’.

      • -6

not trying to 'help' —- simply stated (sarcastically, in 20 words or less) that for someone who has been on OZB for 9 years, and has had 29 posts — that they would know exactly how to post a deal … and is not a noob

There are others who asked for the model and price ahead of me but edited their responses as they see the 50+ negs 😂
people jump on the band wagon when they see negs, as I have done that myself up … I hope I get 100!!!

And for anyone who posts again without a model or price, I will do the same … as many others have done so as well =)

    • Lol don’t really find this that bad yet u got so many negs… ha, wt…

I remember wanting a 14 inch CRT TV for $350.

    • +1

Now we know how old you are (and those who gave positive votes on your comments) 😬✌️

    • The monitor for my c64 (which was actually a tv) was $550 from Grace Bros. back in the day, more than the c64 cost by a fair chunk. It was extra expensive because it had an on screen display when you changed the channel. The channel number had about the same amount of pixels as your space invaders enemies. It's amazing how little we got for our extra money back then

  • -4

Wish I knew what the input lag was, would be good for a bedroom TV with a console

    • +6

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it'd be pretty bad.

  • Reviews are decent SONIQ F-FV17C https://g.co/kgs/CMLDxo

    • +6

      What reviews are you reading?

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/soniq-f40fv17c

Sound sucks, breaks just out of warranty, light bleed and bowing at the top edge, flimsy and flexes. Limited apps. What does a bad TV review look like to you?

      • +5

        Basically it's a $200 (delivered) 40" TV

        • +10

Sure, but don't say that the reviews are decent if they're not. That is objectively a bad TV .Especially deaths just out of warranty. Even $200 can be a waste.

          • @syousef: For sure, totally agree.

          • @syousef: I,m not saying but the review's on that site are not from me.

        • you sure they won't card it for collection ? don't even have to leave their store

      • +2

so for just $200 you can have all of these issues.. Bargain!

        • +1

Yeah, the only "issue" I have with my TV is the sound being pretty average. This was expected however from a $199 TV and was very easily fixed.
I haven't experienced any of the freezing or ill fitting case/frame issues reported by that one reviewer.
Buyer beware, it is a $199 TV, don't compare it to a Samsung or an LG.

          • @cashie: what speaker(s) do you use?

            • +1

              @OssieA: I've got a Samsung soundbar.
Almost any soundbar would be a huge improvement though.

      • To be fair, I would assume there be more than 100+ people who has purchased this tv.

If only 12 buyers have bitched about it, I would say it's a pretty decent TV.

        • It depends on the complaint. Even at $200 this isn't tempting to me.

  • +5

It is so damn sluggish to use. Not fun at all.

    • Mines not sluggish.

  • Cheap brand, cheap basic TV basic specs, okay for kids room but nothing special at all

    • +3

      Elaborate

    • Defend your position.

      • -2

…well i have been down voted 17+ times with an overwhelming negative response by the entire community, so no point now in defending my position, you should heed my warning as I said it for the good of the community, but you just go ahead and ignore my advice and you will soon regret your purchase, fanks, much love, and goodnight suckers!!

        • +1

The community is annoyed as you haven't provided a reason for your comment or provided any sort of evidence of why this isn't a bargain, like a link to a better bargain or discussed problems that you may have had with this TV (provided that you have purchased it).

        • +1

I think perhaps you may have been neg voted for the first thing it says under 'Inappropriate uses of negative vote' in the voting guidelines.

  • +1

As someone who worked in a post office many moons ago, it’s amazing what you can get there these days…

    • +15

As someone who works in one under th current moon, it's embarrassing.
We sell bras, we've got UV light phone cleaners, UV wand lights etc…

      • +20

Have you got any Cartier watches going cheap?

        • I wonder if it was deemed illegal if they have had to give them back?

  • +1

Im looking for one for kids room with dvd built in, her one was from like 6 years ago and cant remember the brand, but was prefect for daughter as it was pink to match her room stuff.
Was thinking of a tv for both daughter and son for xmas with dvd built in.
    Any good deals

    • Aus post does sell some with DVD player in built. Only 2 or 3 sizes available.

    • +19

Is this a message from the 90’s? An ozbargainer without a Synology or Terramaster with 10TB WD shucked drives and a Plex lifetime membership? Use your DVD’s to scare off the birds and walk towards the light my friend.

      • Yea most ppl now days use USB or HDD with 100s of movies

      • You forgot 5 2k 27" Dell monitors!!

      • You've just used about 6 words that I've never heard of, so I'd say there are still a few "old schoolers" kicking around.

    • Yea try auspost or big W if you need cheap dvd player but would make more sense just getting a cheap PS3 for movies, music, gaming, BR

      • I did exactly this (cheap PS3) but mostly for Play TV to record FTA.

        • Yea it's the cheapest option to buy PS3 which does everything including blu ray

found this if you're interested. $180.45 looks perfect for a kids room

  • +1

Nice price. Have to wonder at what point will HD panels simply stop being made and everything will be UHD.

    • If you want to use it for gaming hopefully not too soon. It's still much cheaper to get a video card that handles 1080p fine but not UHD.

      • UHD panels can display a simply upscaled FHD picture just fine.

        • +1

Upscaled is blurrier than native, especially on computer monitors.

          • @syousef: Each pixel is upscaled to 4 more, so it should be fine especially if you sit a bit far. But if you play a 1080 on a 1440P then it wont be good.

      • Unless you are gaming on 4K consoles

  • +9

Imagine soo many people complaining about a $199 tv if you're unhappy with the quality, buy a smart tv with gaming capabilities for $1k then.. 🤦‍♂️

  • +8

Tv's in children's bedrooms seems like a very bad idea to me.

    • +4

      Free childcare

    • +5

Came for the bargains, stayed for the parenting advice :)

    • How about using books instead? Or is it harder than it is to get kids to read.

      • +2

Books would make for a terrible tv stand.

  • +1

    Bought last time.
Incredible considering delivered for 2 hungy, but really, a very not great tv. Put in kids room and has been used about twice in 3 months.

Factor in aux speakers of some variety… Unless you have something laying around, this requirement really erodes the value

Will be moving to bedroom eventually, need something to fall asleep to other than my phone

    • Can you cast to it ? Or do you need someone like a crome cast for that ?

      • No, I'm using a chromecast

  • +1

I thought this was the standard price, I bought one 3 weeks ago for my bedroom.
Good picture, but the sound was as expected, poor, using a Samsung sound bar with excellent results.

  • Would appreciate if someone can tell me if it has VESA screw holes on the rear. Thanks

    • Yes it does

  • Unbelievable price! I think I paid $550 for a 32 inch SONIQ TV back in 2011, still working good. But I am really tempted at this price now!

  • I might wait until that BigW 42" Android TV is on spesh again.

    • +2

If you can find a store with stock, there is a Thomson smart tv with an extra 3 inches and it's $50 more (or it was last week, idk if it's changing price as of tmrw).
Just think of the difference 3 inches could make…

      • I would be keen on this, any idea if there is stock near QLD 4000?

  • +3

Don't expect a stunning display and ultra quick response, but for $200 for a 40 inch tv with 1 year warranty you can't go wrong

  • +2

I got this on a previous Auspost deal. For $199 it's absolutely fine. Pair it with a $60 soundbar and you've got yourself an acceptable AV setup.

    • any recommended $60 soundbar?

  • +1

too small according to current standards

    • +3

      Just sit closer, problem solved

    • What are you talking about? I've still got an old Sony 32 inch in my bedroom and love it.

      • I had a 32" that I replaced with one of these, I'm getting a bit old and blind though :)

  • I just got one thanks OP

  • no place in the bedroom!

    • And here I thought 40" TV is too small for bedroom nowadays

  • Have soniq TV 48" bought 6 years ago for $399 from a deal posted on here. Very good value for money.
Yes sound quality is crap but it does the job fine. Just recently black colour has started to play up. Black have lots of noise and speaker buzzing when turned on but goes away after a while.
    For $200 it's a no brainier.

  • I've got 2 of these, panels aren't great, with a dodgy backlight/non-uniform panel, but for $200 they're a bargain.
If you're using for PC remember to switch to PC mode in settings - makes a huge difference

  • Well I've got a 24 inch TV for N64 etc, 32 inch for PS3, 40 inch for PS4, 50 inch for HD TV & foxtel but thinking about upgrading finally to UHD 4K when black Friday sale :) my mate got 65 inch ru7100 last year for $995 which is a decent TV.

    • not a bad deal. neighbour got the same tv, in january, for $850+$60 delivery.

      • Okay not sure how they got that

        • coupon deal on ebay

          • @OssieA: Lucky it is a decent TV just to my eyes not the best clarity picture
