  • Anyone able to get this without edu email?

    • i got ideapad s540 deal $1142 without edu id … read the first comment on that deal.

  • @shellshocked … how do you see this laptop in deal vs ideapad s540 4800u ?

    • +3

I would use the term apples to oranges. S540 is a better deal for a more premium, portable laptop with a better binned 8 core CPU. The S540 13" has some of the best cooling you will see on a laptop. Due to this efficient cooling, the AMD Ryzen 4800U performs really well on this laptop chassis.

People always don't think about cooling when purchasing a laptop. No point getting a the fastest CPU if the chassis can't keep it cool.

I would treat the Ideapad gaming as a more budget orientated laptop with a good six core CPU. However, the CPU, chassis, screen and battery are not up to the level of the S540 13.

Thanks mate … i was following your posts/comments and appraisal for ideapad S540 13" for few days and finally pulled the trigger today. Indeed your comments and appraisal cleared the fog. Thanks heaps 👍

      • Screen size and onboard graphics vs. dedicated needs to be factored in to wouldn't it ?

  • cannot use usb-c to hdmi for connecting multiple screen on this.
