    Nice one big dog.

    • +2

      Thanks little dog

  • Damn, been wanting this but waiting to hear back on issues with my B550 F Gaming Wifi Lemon Board.

Actually needed the Front Type C and 4 Front USB 3.0 too

    Decisions….

    • Dude, Im in the same situation as you. My lemon Asus Prime-P suucks and I need the usb c in front. Only 1 internal USB port works lmao.

      • The 2.5gb Ethernet Port is working at 1/3 GB Speeds and the Bluetooth just disappears completely, only to return if you unplug cables/clear CMOS…. fking terrible. I actually downgraded 9900k and 9600k systems for the privilege too.

Here's hoping my next Ryzen Board isn't so bad.

        • Dam, If you had more than 3 problems I'd just buy this board LMAO. It's a days pay but helps you mentally because you wont suffer on your off days.

  • Shipping is not free. You got free shipping because you bought 2.

    • Updated post. Thanks for pointing that out

  • How does this compare to the Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite (besides added wifi)…? Recently bought that board for $233 but thinking of upgrading to onboard Wi-Fi

    • +1

I'd just buy a wifi card/dongle. I'm not sure how it compares but this is meant to be one of the better boards

  • I had terrible RAM overclocking experience with this board, tried 5 pairs, couldn't overclock any, sometimes after a failed RAM overclock, it bugs up and can't be reverted by clearing CMOS, so you have to reinstall BIOS

    • Maybe a faulty board? I'm not sure

      • yeah I don't know, but don't think that's enough evidence to try and RMA

        • It should be. Honestly seems like a faulty board. The tomahawk is fine for overclocking. But idk might not be a problem with the mobo?

    • Same, gave up trying cos it just wouldn’t work. Been flawless otherwise.

    • Isn't RAM overclocking more of a CPU IMC issue than the board? Do the DIMM topology and DIMM VRM performance/phases affect the overclocking that much? I guess they do at the higher end, but I thought CPU IMC made the biggest impact.

      • I also used 2 cpu with it, a 3600 and 3950x, both with little success

  • What CPU would be good for this? Havent done much investigation from AMD chipsets as im still rocking a I7-2700k!

    • +3

      5950X

      • +1

Why did someone downvote this? It's the best CPU to get for this board (albeit also the most expensive).

        • +2

Because people want to pair the highest tier motherboard with a 65W 6 core.

    • Depends on your budget/needs. As of tonight, the 5600 is gonna be pretty desirable. But waiting for real reviews would be a good idea.

It's widely regarded as one of the better value X570 Boards though.

    • What's your budget? 5600x great bang for buck or 5800x. Depends what your use case is

      • Circa $300-500 mark
Had a quick search, so these are being released tonight, will wait for reviews. Thanks for the heads up

        • The top 4 spots in Cinebench R20 (Single-Core) results on CPU Monkey are held by all 4 of AMD's new CPUs to be released tonight (https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/cpu_benchmark-cinebench_r20_si…)…

Even the cheapest 5600X beats the top Intel Core i7-1185G7 4x 3.00 GHz (4.80 GHz) HT for single-threaded processing, and only @ 65W TDP.

…and if you want to open a whole new can of works have a look into pairing these chips with AMD's new graphics cards, apparently 6-10% performance gains due to "smart access memory" technology; as you said wait for some real-world tests but if they can put their money where their mouth is, AMD is doing something at the moment.

If you can get over the driver issues…

  • Can anyone comment re Shopping Express purchasing experience? Are they good with returns, etc?

    • +3

Haven't tried return but they ship very quickly (in 1-2 biz days)
      I live in Sydney though

    • +1

they are very good if purchased from eBay

    • They ship really quick, but I did have an issue. I bought a samsung 970 evo plus from them, which had a cash back offer. I tried getting my cashback from samsung, but the SN was invalid. Contacted shopping express, they replied asking for photos so I sent them. No reply back after that and they've been ignoring me since. Rip my $46 cashback 😔

      • Did you get the serial number of the actual M.2 drive and not the packaging? The packaging was one digit/character too short. I had to get mine off the actual M.2 and I haven't received my cashback yet (I bought one from them and one from Futu, at the same time).

  • Still dreaming of getting that god damn $300 delivered prime day eBay deal

  • Wonder if they will do a motherboard and cpu 5% deal like last time

  • They have a concurrent deal going where you buy a motherboard and cooler, and get free shipping. Works out tasty for new PC builders. That deal ends on the 8th, so there's a day or so overlap between it ending and new AMD CPUs being announced (1am 6th November 2020).

    • +1

Can you link to the deal?

      • Sorry bud, been away from screens for a few days. I get the daily e-mails from these guys

  • MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI AMD AM4 WiFi 6 ATX Motherboard $309
    G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 Desktop RAM Memory Kit $159

Free delivery. Good deal? Or should wait till Black Friday.

    • Can never be 100% sure, but I am pretty much on the same boat as you man.

Amazon Prime day had the Crucial Ballistix 3600MHz 32GB CL16 for $152.12
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572445

And on Prime day, eBay did a 1 hour 20% off (many products) sale, which included the x570 Tomahawk from a couple of sellers and they were down to $300.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572688

Needless to say, they both went out of stock fairly quickly so if you have quick hands, wait for Friday. If not, this might be worth pulling the trigger for.

  • So presumably you'll either be able to run with a 5xx0 chip, straight away, or just update the BIOS?

    • Yeh, this mobo should allow for BIOS direct update via USB

      • Well as long as it works one way or the other, then that's okay.

The sale says it ends in 3 days, so I might wait a day or two and see if any reviews pop up for it, although I've wanted this board for a while and now getting one for my son's first gaming PC.

        • MSI have an updated BIOS available here

          https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MAG-X570-TOMAHAWK-WI…

Can be updated via Flashback on this board

          • @Tiigger: Yup - thanks - I took a look earlier, but couldn't see that it included 5000 series CPUs (just says, "Updated AMD AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.1.0.0 Patch C").

Anyway, I bought the mobo, so it had better support it by the time I get the CPU ;)

            • +1

@RichardMelbourne: I understand 5000 series support started with 1.0.8.0 AGESA

latest is 1.1.0.0 so good to go

      • Can confirm.

  • Been looking at getting one full price, thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP being looking for one of these deals.

I managed to buy it for 293.55$ from ebay price match shoppingsquare with futu online ebay 419$ as they gave me a 125.45$ voucher

Im surprised i didnt get matched with the delivery cost (i have ebay plus).

Bought with TCN 5% and add cashrewards since no voucher codes used for more discounts.

No need to pay CC fees as well.

You probably can find a higher priced x570 to price match up to 150$ voucher but i have bought from futu online a few times.

    • How did you get the price match, please? Did you message Futu and ask if they'd price match the Shopping Express website's price?

      • nah no need. u just open a chat on ebay and ask if they will price match X with Y. Then they will tell u how much voucher u will get back. If they say yes and u agree to the amount u can tell them u will buy now and give them the purchase details.

Much better than buying then asking for a price match later.

        • Chat with eBay? Oh! I didn't even know they did that - I'll give it a go - thanks!

    • Do you have a link to the ShoppingSquare page for item the price match, please? I just tried online chat then realised you wrote ShoppingSquare (as Shopping Express isn't on their registered sites list).

      • oh wow i didn't realize that. I just used the link in the OP and the lady said yeah. Maybe i got lucky and she misread it as shoppingsquare. I am not sure. i have the full chat transcript though.

        04:03:04 UTC
in that case i might as well buy a higher price one 233608144045
        04:03:42 UTC
can i confirm the voucher to me will be 125.45 before i purchase it. thanks
        04:03:51 UTC Queenie
        The $419?
        04:04:00 UTC
        yeah
        04:04:50 UTC Queenie
Thanks, yes the voucher will be $125.45
        04:05:19 UTC
ok purchasing it now. give me a few min

        • Yeah, looks like you got lucky! The person I'm with on online chat won't budge. Oh well. I'll have to try this next time (might try online chat again later, just in case!)

          • @RichardMelbourne: funny thing is i actually tried to buy 2 because shoppingexpress only gives free delivery for 2 units and i thought i could easily flog the other one on gumtree. She said i could only price match one a day, didnt even add the delivery cost.

        • I tried again with a second online chat and no go - you just got really lucky, mate.

  • Kind of off-topic (but applicable as I'm looking at buying one from S.E. and there's an insurance option.

Is insurance actually needed? I mean, isn't it the seller's responsibility to get it to you in one piece? So shouldn't they be the one with insurance?

    • I paid for my Mobo and RAM in my prev comment. The courier + insurance costed $26 which was the more expensive option ended up being free as well.

  • Great price for this mobo. I've been running it for a week now with Ryzen 9 3950x and G.Skill 64GB 3200MHz CL16 with no issues at all. I didn't try to OC the CPU/RAM, and not going to as this is my work PC so can't give any feedback regarding this area.

Please be aware that Dragon Center, the software that controls all the RGB and some other crap has really bad reviews online. MSI used to have Mystic Light (the component that controls RGB) standalone app but it's not supported on X570 boards. I didn't even install Dragon Center due to the terrible privacy policy they put for it. Just something to keep in mind if you care about RGB and other features the software provides you with. Do your own research on this before purchasing…

    • Thanks for that! This is/was gonna be for my 10 year old son who is REALLY into RGB lighting

      • No worries. I've read somewhere that you can install Dragon Center, set the RGB settings to your liking, then uninstall Dragon Center and this would work fine as the settings are saved on the motherboard. I can't test this as I don't run RGB.

Also, a note to anyone scared of the chipset fan, I've set the profile to silent and so far (a week of using) the fan hasn't even turned once. I do have a very good air-cooled case though so YMMV.

        • i have this mobo and am using dragon center. i have to say it isn't the best experience but it does the job ok. it does sync up the different RGB components so not many complaints there. The software is slow and clunky though but not enough not to recommend this mobo.

          • @bonechiller: Have you tried setting your RGB profile and then uninstalling the software?

Also, don't get me wrong…I love this mobo. For my workstation setup, it's doing a damn fine job. Excellent VRM layout and features. Just maybe not to someone who is after great RGB control as the software is off-putting.

            • @ClioB: Hey. Nopes, haven't done that as yet, but can give it a shot. but honestly, I use the RGB stuff sparingly. I mostly got this for the reviews and the performance.

and I do agree that if you were considering this for RGB, you might want to look at the ASUS board. RGB is definitely an afterthought in the software.

        • Oof i already bought it. That is good to know tho, thanks

      • My z390 strix mobo had way more customizable RGB lights on the board than this MSI and it's kinda disappointing tbh, there's only shades of colur underneath the board that lights up so i wouldn't suggest this board if you want lots of bright colours :)

  • Bought this board during ebay flash sale, can’t justify uninstalling an ASUS x570 tuf wifi board to this one, difference is wifi6 and better thermals for OC? Not sure what else ? Better if I just sell this ?

    • so to clarify - you don't want to gain wifi 6 and a better oc vrm from the tomahawk?

    • why did you buy it?

  • best suggested motherboard for 5950x?

    • there are >1k mobos and this one for 300.

Since your not overclocking the cpu, gpu and ram - grab this.

  • Sale ended before time ran out what the ??? I was doing a price protection claim!!!

    • Follow the instructions. Add the motherboard to your cart and the discount will apply

  • I believe the price has gone back up to 359 - checked with cart.

  • Anyone had this ship yet?

    • +1

My son's already received his (he's in Sydney) if that's any help.

      • Nice! I'm in Melbourne, hasn't shipped yet.

    • +1

I'm the OP and had ordered when I posted this and received mine today. I'm in Adelaide.

      • When did it get sent? Mine still has "Pick" as the status.

        • +1
