Hey guys,

I was watching for Sony 135mm GM coming back to stock. I noticed this lens just got restocked to more than 10 available so enjoy for those that don't have this yet. Great price for an amazing lens to walk around.

There is also that 70-200mm f2.8 GM OSS Lens for $2,959.20. After cash back it would be $2659.20. That's a great steal for this lens. I paid $3k for this lens 6 months ago and I thought that was great price. However, there are only 4 available:

  • Tamron 17-30mm is the budget buy at ~$1K if you don't mind the slightly shorter top end range. Has excellent reviews.

A decent lens however I prefer the Batis 18mm.
Much sharper with less distortion and almost as wide (though a much shorter barrel negates some of that too).
Cost wise it’s definitely a bunch cheaper.

Just you know, to consider your needs. It’s much lighter and smaller too.

I have Zeiss Batis 40mm CF. That thing produces some amazing photos! Kind of hard to compare prime lens vs zoom lens. Since one is flexible with zoom range and other is just 1 FL.

You can, the 16-35 isn’t very good as a 35mm lens goes

    • Have you noticed a significant difference in sharpness and general IQ? This evaluation says the sharpness of both lenses are very similar across most apertures https://www.lightpoint.info/en/photo/reviews/2027-tamron-17-…

      • I didn’t get the Tamron or try it because it doesn’t allow any circular filters in the thread.
The tamron performs very well but I think the Batis still wins in the extreme corners, the extreme corner performance of the Batis is one if the best I’ve seen yet.

        • Oh interesting about the circular filters. It has a 67mm thread so couldn’t you just drop in any 67mm uv or circular polariser etc?

@schnackysmores: Sorry was confusing it with the beast of a 14-28mm tamron… I didn’t examine this one.
            The review mentioned above states:

Summing up, I might suggest to pick up:

the Tamron for focal range, starting also 1 mm wider and with more close up possibilities, along with overall great quality. My preferred choice.
the Batis to obtain even higher quality in the details regarding control of aberrations and less distorsion, but accepting the restriction of a single focal length.

            • @[Deactivated]: Additionally I use a 35mm F1.4 so the zoom is redundant for me anyways

Also Sony 200-600mm comes down to $2079 after cash back. Cheapest it has ever been I believe.

    • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I just paid $2300 for it! That was the cheapest it'd ever been 3 weeks ago!

      • I paid $2,700 a couple of months ago and thought I got a good deal…. :(

  • Sony seems to be slow as hell with these redemptions. Still waiting for my $200 gift card from over 2 months ago. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/561388
