In Monster Hunter World, you play a hunter assigned by the Hunter’s Guild to the Research Commission, a task force whose goal is to investigate the New World and a phenomenon known as the Elder Crossing. Venturing on an expedition with other hunters and their Palico companions, you’ll journey to strange, beautiful new lands with diverse environments.

Along the way, you’ll encounter a huge array of monsters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, each requiring unique techniques to bring down. You’ll prepare for every hunt with the right weapons, equipment and items, and track down each foe. Then, you’ll work together with other hunters to bring down even the largest beasts.

Monster Hunter World features the same tactical combat for which the Monster Hunter series has long been known. It gives players 14 different weapons to choose from, each having a complex moveset and control scheme that you’ll need to master if you want to survive. There’s also a huge number of armor types and sets that you’ll need to mix and match to handle each foe, as well as a variety of consumable items that can turn the tides of battle in an instant.

You can also customize your friendly feline companion, your Palico, who can help you with powerful offensive abilities, bolster your defenses, or provide support abilities to help keep you going.

Monster Hunter World can be played solo, or you can summon help from a mix of up to three friends or random strangers. As a four-person hunting party, you’ll need to work together to defeat the largest monsters, whose powerful attacks and maneuverability will make you work for your victory.
