If a good CR or SB cashback offer comes in then ill add this to my 10 adidas shoes… have to convince myself somehow….

um.. that's not the OG triple black. Isnt this the Triple Black version

    • +3

Yep, but the OGs aren't on sale

      • Has triple black been on sale ever?

        • yeah the ultra boost triple black ones have been (not the 20's) , think it was a 50% off sale listed here

        • +1

Yeah months ago. I managed to get the UB20 Triple Black for $116. Good times.

      • +1

Black Texta makes these Triple Black pretty easily…

    • Thanks I've updated the title and description

  • Are these actually good for running? Say compared to Kayano 27 or brooks ghost 13.
If Money was not the issue and comfort and durability is more important are these worth it?

I had the ultraboost laceless version 2 years ago. Bought it for the look but my god it was uncomfortable ashell.
No support on the sides and back and my feet would keep sliding around the shoe.
Im wondering if it would be the case for these aswell.

    Thanks

I would say that based on the design of this shoe and my own experience with the OG Ultraboost, that this is not the ideal running shoe. It'll certainly do the job but I think it's much better as a comfortable casual walking shoe.

Still a decent running shoe I would imagine, my partner has the Ultraboost 20 and she uses it for some casual running and they are fine.

I have recently bought the Pegasus 37 for running and some other general training and am liking them quite a bit.

    • +2

I have several pairs of ultraboost but I only wear with Jeans. For running, I still prefer Kayano 27 which is giving me more firm support. If your prime purpose of buying these shoes are for running, you are better to try Kayano 27.

I used the UB 20's for running and it was a bad idea. They are very comfy for running and I definitely believe they helped me transition from running on a treadmill to running on a footpath without any pain/injuries..BUT..
The grip is completely worn out - i mean, if i was to use these again I'd be running on the ultraboost cushion, not the grip. They wear VERY fast (I've probably jogged 20km in these with the rest (~250km) just a normal walk.

I mirror the other comments, probably better to go down the Kayano/Brooks route.

      • +1

But but but continental ® rubber

        • +3

Good racing tyres wear out after a single race, in F1 they don't even last half a race. Don't confuse performance with longevity.

          • +1

@1st-Amendment: Which is what I found with UB's.
SUPER comfy (IMO). But geezus.. It was like I was doing hotlaps on a 50c day on super soft racing tyres. I wore through the rubber on them so bloody quickly. I wore them for just general use and going to the gym, no running or anything like that.

            • @Maz78: I used to work with a guy who did ultra marathons and he used to go through a pair of shoes every month! So I somewhat expect a shorter life span for the higher performance shoes, and UB's are one of Adidas's top shoes. I've had mine for 3 months based on the wear so far I reckon I'll get a year out of them.

            • @Maz78: We’re you wearing the 19/20’s? I had the 4.0’s and found the sole basically evaporated from day 1, but haven’t seen anything like that in my 20’s, seems like a stiffer rubber compound, but definitely should bet even stronger for the price

              • +1

@Anthropomorphised: Yeah 19's from memory. Great shoe, but the sole may as well have been made from butter. I've never gone through a pair of shoes so quickly!

    • I own the Kayano 26 and have about 3 x pairs of ultraboost. For everyday running, Kayano's are far superior for comfort and 'bounce' when running. The uncaged ultraboosts aren't too far off but much better than the normal caged ultraboosts.

If you're someone who focuses on minimal cardio and mainly lift weights, I'd go for the caged ultraboosts because it's much better value.

If you're someone who enjoys jogging around the neighbourhood, I wouldn't touch the caged/uncaged ultraboosts and go straight for the Kayano's. Trust me, the extra money is worth it.

I also used to use Kayanos but wear my UB19's and 20's for running nowadays.
For long runs I'd be best off with the Kayano's though.

    • yeah i reckon they're fine. i have pegasus 36 now which i slightly prefer but i used to do a few runs of ~10km a week in UB 4.0s with no issues.

    • Kayano is the best… My first was the Kayano 23, bought two pairs like ~4 years ago and still going (I have a few runners which I alternate, don't use the same every day). From time to time, I still try something different, such as the Ultraboost 19, but I haven't found anything as comfortable for running as Kayano, particularly regarding the impact absorption. Bought a pair of Kayano 26 from Rebel last month (cheaper than the 27, my size, and nice colours). I'd definitely pay more for the Kayano.

    • The ultraboost has been more of a lifestyle sneaker for most of its life, but since the 19, and now 20 has focused a lot more on performance. I’ve had the 4.0 which was great for everyday wear but didn’t have much stability and now I have the 20, it’s much more comparable to performance runners. My kayanos are still more stable but these have way better impact absorption, so seem better for the knees.

    I love these for running.

Had a pair of the og version.

    Lasted slightly less than "normal".

Got a pair of nike running shoes and i just couldnt wear them in. Just got a month ago the ultraboost20 and done 3 runs in them.

I expect to purchase another pair when i wear through these (which, again, may be slightly sooner than usual).

    • When do you determine that they're worn out?

  • Love UB 20. Done 12km City to Surf in Darwin, so comfortable.

I bought the orange and black camo version. At $156, well worth it.

I have 3 pairs of UB at this stage. The orange and black camo will be my 4th.

  • How is sizing on UB? TTS, wide or narrowish?

    • usually 9.5, i went 10!
      hope this helps!

    • Depends on the person I go TTS on Ultraboost and I have relatively wide feet.

    • I go TTS, regular width feet.

  • +2

It says Shipping takes up to 28 days..Where the hell they shipped it from?

  • Thanks OP - bought a pair

  • been waiting for triple blacks to go on sale, but they never do, these are the closest

Fashion gurus, someone tells me what i should do!

    • Do it! the Silver Lining at the back heel tab gives it a nice pop.

      • +3

ok doing it, i hate you

    • If you sign up for adidas creator club you get vouchers at different levels, I think it’s a 20% and then a 25%, they can be used on triple blacks. I’m currently planning to buy a bunch of gift cards at 15% off from AGL rewards and then stack them with my 25% off voucher and a decent cashback whenever one becomes available. Sometimes you gotta make the bargain come to you!

  • Don’t bother. I purchased several items from the Adidas online store during the last three sales(30%off, stackable 46% off, 50% etc). but they never arrived. I contacted customer service to get updates and they told me that they were still processing the order. They apologized for it and assured me that they would do everything to fix it. Patiently waiting but two months passed and I still didn't get my order. So I called a second time later and was told they needed to wait until the next week because the department that handles that was not in operation. After another month I received an email of the cancellation. I called them again, and they claimed that a refund would proceed after 5 -8 business days. And, two weeks are gone and nothing happened. I had to lodge a dispute on my payment provider portal and fight for every dollar I spent.

    • +2

Mine arrived in under a week.

    • +1

That's bad… I also bought several items from them in the last sales but didn't have any problems.

    • The sales support would happily give you a coupon to purchase another pair of similar shoes using the same price. Call and ask.

    • that’s unfortunate…

I have bought in every code/sale posted here this year, and recent ones have received items within a week

  • Enter coupon, checkout says $156, click pay now with either PayPal or credit card, final cost goes back to $260,

    Anyone else ?

    • nope reenter code

  • +1

They only run down to US men's size 7 online? I need size 6.5 :(

    • +1

Because no man can have such small feet… haha…
      Joking… ;)

Seriously, if you usually buy 6 or 6.5, 7 might be your number for this one. I haven't checked the return policy, but if it's free return (or Paypal-paid return), I'd give that a go.

      • My two other pairs of Ultraboosts are US men's size 6.5 / US women's size 7.5 so unless this colour runs smaller than the others, I'll sadly miss out. Good deal for others.

  • +1

Thanks op… Ordered. Hope they show up

  • Tempting however I only paid $116 last month so not sure if the colourway is justified.

    • How did ya manage that epic price? I saw the outlet sale but it was $12x if I recall and no colourways I liked

      • 10% cash back via cash rewards.
        Final price was $115.80 =)

  • I'm having problem checking out. It keep refusing my payment….used all the cards / paypal… Does anyone have this problem?

  • Do these shoes have good arch support?

    • Nah they are pretty much neutral

  • +1

Mine's out for delivery today! Express posted.

  • +1

FWIW mine arrived today. Order places afternoon of 9th and arrived midday 14th

    • Love how they deliver on Saturdays now :)

  • Very annoyed. Adidas emailed me today cancelling my order, no explanations or anything just "we regret to inform you that your item has been cancelled".
