Thanks! I had this on search alert for a long time and just bought it.

  • For anyone who got this speaker,
does it enhance the clarity of the speech in movies ?

Been thinking of getting a center to complete my speaker set up (Dali concept)

I got it for that purpose (clarity of speech) and it's great for that. I certainly can understand the dialogue a lot better now.

    • It's not the best for that, and would ultimately need its tweeters and crossover changed to really extract value out of it, but it's cheap and better than nothing.

But you should always match your centre to the rest of your setup, so to the internet research mines for you!

I would always recommened to get the same brand same model series of your front speakers.

Get a dali concept centre speaker for the same tonal quality.

If you were starting from scratch then 3 of these would be fine for the fronts… given they are a $150 speaker then expect $150 worth of quality.

        • The SP22 are fantastic speakers for the price, and paired with a decent sub they are very tonally balanced while also being fairly technically proficient.

You can take both them and the centre further by changing the tweeters and crossover (though I'm yet to see the crossover diagram for the C22).

As the starting point for a home theatre system, I would go for them, then get a nice transparent receiver, a good sealed sub (for movie/music balance) and then work towards modding the bookshelf speakers and centre down the track.

Once modded, a setup like that would easily compete with packages that are sold for 2-3 times the price, and in Australia that's probably 3-4 times.

  • Also looking for a centre speaker to pair with my q acoustics. How does this compare against Micca MB42X-C Center Channel Speaker https://www.amazon.com.au/Micca-MB42X-C-Channel-Speaker-Twee…

    • I wish I had known the Micca centre speaker was available here in Australia. I paired the Pioneer centre with my existing Voll B50 bookshelf speakers - if I'm not mistaken, Voll is just a rebadged Micca.

Would have loved to have matching centre + surround speakers.

      • Don't feel bad, there are plenty of afficianados that say timbre matching is way overrated and unnecessary, me included.

  • Thanks OP! Had been watching these for a while. The free-standing speakers are also at a decent price at the moment.
