  • just know that Rx580 still has this beat mostly.

    • Not seeing any new 580s at this price.

      • +1

        there's a $219 Asus one at PCByte

        • That's a good deal tbh, worth posting if it isn't already

    • +15

the 1650super uses half the power, more energy efficient.

    • +7

They both very similar in performance but RX 580 runs much hotter due to nearly twice the TDP (185w vs 100w).

    • RX 580 cons - more power consumption, weaker than 1650 super in most titles
      pros - 8gb vram

  • +1

Good price. I paid $250 a few months ago.

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Grabbed one.

  • -8

Fwiw this is slower than a gtx 970.

    • +4

This is 1650 super not 1650. Its faster than 970.

And I didn't down vote you. That is someone else.

      • -4

No hard feelings :) I found the same video link as compulsiveOZB below. It's closer, but the 970 is still faster.

        • +1

drinking on weekdays? That video shows 1650 is better.

  • $10 cheaper than my Galax post, and this one looks better. I couldn't get the newsletter coupon code to work with my order though, anyone else have luck?

    • Didn't use the coupon at all since I didn't subscribe, but most likely coupon has fine print that prevents it being used on Specials.

    • Worked for me. Code they give me is BPCT10

      • Yep same code. Kept getting an error message. Oh well.

        • Have you purchased from them before? Has to be first purchase.

          • @MiscOzB: Darn. Wasn't logged in.

            • @JoelT: JoelT, did you pay $199 like me?

              • @nrvnob: Sure did. And also bought the $209 one from PCByte, which I cancelled 15 mins later but they still ended up shipping it somehow… So now I have to try and refuse delivery to get a refund.

                • @JoelT: Sorry to hear that PCByte shipped it. I hope you can get it resolved. It looks like my order has been shipped yesterday so hopefully will come within next a few days.

  • And the differences between this and the 1660 Super is…….huge?

    • Maybe it is, but you'd also be paying over $100 more for it.

    • worth if you have the money, if you don't this is still very good.

  • +3

Thanks for the recognition CompulsiveOzB, unfortunately I missed $10 extra off as I ordered as soon as I saw it but still a good deal for me.

  • Triggered

  • +2

The fact that I paid $300 for this at the start of all this covid shit makes me cry

    • +6

You used your card at about $10/month fur the price difference, and now it's even. I think it's worth it.

      • +2

that makes me feel better lmao

        • +3

you will feel much better, think about those who paid $2000 for a 2080ti couple of months ago

  • +6

Wish this was low profile so I could upgrade my 1050 ti

    • this requires 6pin ?

  • thanks OP, got a couple for budget builds!

  • +2

Grabbed one for 189, seems a good price especially when people are trying to sell used ones for $200.

  • +2

RX 480's used to be $250 4 years ago. It's sad that the performance per dollar of lower end cards has barely moved in such a long time.

  • Anyone came across a GTX 1650 Super that is PCIe powered only (no 6 pin power required)

    • +3

all 1650 supers need 6 pin power

  • what's the cheapest psu that can be used with this GPU?

  • +1

Upvoted for profile pic; Halo 2 best in the series don't @ me

  • Thanks, I've been on the lookout for a cheap 1650 Super for my build.

  • +1

4gb vram? Is that even enough for 1080p these days?

    • +2

Yes, just. Had black boxes where there should have been fireworks in Wolfenstein, on a 1060 3gb. Was my only issue with AAA thus far

      • +1

i feel 1060 3gb should never have been released… seems way too little

        • I remember buying it new for ~250 from ozb, was my best purchase at the time

  • Grabbed one at $189, thanks OP! Absolute legend

@everyone getting errors w/ the coupon code - you need to make an account and sign in to apply the newsletter code

  • Real deal, I got one

  • +3

My interim GPU has been ordered while I wait for the prices and dust to settle on the new GPU lineups.

  • +4

Very happy with this card for 1440p gaming on an older CPU. Been playing the shit out of Far Cry 5 at 60fps Ultra. Very enjoyable. Gsync is a joy. Only issue is 4gb of memory. It's almost criminal that a 6 or 8gb version does not exist. Paying 2k for gfx card is excessive IMO. But hey that's just my opinion, man.

  • Can this play CP2077 in medium settings?

    • +1

No one knows as its not out yet.

The minimum requirements are GTX 780,

      https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-780-vs-Nvid…

GTX 1650 Super is only 12% better than the GTX 780 so that would suggest no but probably is a newer generation which might mean more performance in 2077 but dont know.

      However the recommended is

      NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

      https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1650S-Super…

It says the GTX 1650 Super is 4% better than the GTX 1060 so maybe…..???

I might wait for a 1660 Super deal its reported as 19% better then the 1650 Super and 25% better than the 1060. However the only real differences between 1650 Super and 1660 Super are that it has 2GB extra memory and 14 Gbps vs 1650 Supers 12 Gbps memory speed so there is not much difference there but who knows.

To be comparable to the performance boost the 1660 Super price would need to be around the $240-$250 mark for the 1660 Super to compete.

None of this really tells you what the performance in 2077 will be though, so long story long back to the first sentence, don't really know.

  • Got one @$189. Thanks.

    • +4

You best be upvoting then son.

  • Would this be a worthwhile upgrade from a Radeon R7 370 4GB?

  • Great

  • Thanks for the heads up in the $10 off! Was about to jump on this last night but decided to wait. Glad I did, this made me pull the trigger.

  • Waiting for a 1660 super deal

    • That’s great for VR

  • +4

    Gigabyte 1650 Super 4Gb - $189 delivered
[later today] Rog Strix 570 8Gb $169 + delivery OzBargain
    Please help me choose!

    • I would much prefer the 1650 because it uses less power.

    • +2

Depends what you're using it for

Unless you're doing something that absolutely NEEDS 8GB of VRAM, I'd go with 1650 super:

      Gaming +27%
      Effective speed +20%
      Price diff (as a % of 169) +12%

      https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1650S-Super…

      • I don't play game at all. However I watch 4k video on my PC. Can it play 4k movie with only 4G RAM?
Or should I get a graphic card with 8G RAM

        Many thanks.

        • +1

You can play 4K movies with integrated graphics cards.
Sounds like you dont need a graphics card at all and it will only cost you more to run your PC for bo extra benefit

          • @8azinga: Agreed

          • @8azinga: Thank you.
            I will try first then.
Will the PC slower or less stable using the build in graphic card?
(I have 16G RAM, 2400 MHz (but the manual said it will support 2133 MHz).

  • Thanks OP, this'll replace a RX560 to churn through video re-encodes.

First time I've even looked at nVidia since the old GeForce 9600, (always had problems with their drivers), but their video encoding hardware is far better than AMD and has more support.

  • +2

Just want to say that I went through the process of ordering it, even though it says out of stock. But I don't know if it will be honored or refunded. I'm not in a rush to get it straight away.

  • +4

Yes… these are shown as back in stock! I just ordered one :)

  • Order has been posted.

  • Mine arrived yesterday :)
Unfortunately, as I'm trying to throw it into an old office HP Compaq, there is no spare 6-pin plug from the PSU. So now have to wait for a cheap SATA power adaptor to arrive. Arghh!

  • Deal finished! Price back upto $249

  • Galax one is still $209 for those who missed out https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/580030

  • +4

Deal is back up at $199.

  • Just ordered one, anyone know how long it takes for delivery ? was considering whether to get 1660 super for $100 more or just the 1650 super, decide to just get the 1650 super as it is just a temporary card and I will eventually upgrade to 3080 when stock is available in the future so just get the cheapest one.

    • Ordered on 10th, sent on 13th, received on 19th but Auspost was a couple of days slower than other packages i received.
