  • "Australian carrier" only. So it means you can't use it overseas?

Probably isn't an issue for the next few years…

I previously had one of these Exynos powered flagships and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Terrible battery life and subpar performance compared to the Snapdragon S20+ 5G in other regions. Go for the S20 FE 5G instead which has the Snapdragon 865 processor globally

FE have touch screen issues… such a shame.

      • -1

I have one and I have no such touch issues on mine. I'm guessing you don't actually have the phone and are just commenting on what you have read on Reddit or technology websites. Touch screen issues can be fixed with software updates, you can't fix a shit processor with a software update.

Incorrect. I bought one and immediately thought something was off with the scrolling and jittering.

This is my screen grab: https://streamable.com/tz5hnv

If you feel your screen has no issues,I challenge you to do those quick light alternating movements and post it to streamable.

You would literally be the first FE to pass that people have bothered proving.

And no, the firmware doesnt yet fix it. It may in the future.. it might not.

@Jikx: Not sure how my comment is incorrect. I'm just describing my experience. Maybe I got lucky with my unit but I have not had any issues whatsoever

Just curious, if it's that bad why not return it for a refund?

            • @Seadog3172: My S20 FE 5G is also fine. It's a great phone. Awesome battery life when you put non important apps to sleep and go with the 60HZ refresh option.

          • @Jikx: BTW, if I was having issues with the touchscreen I wouldn't hesitate to take it back. I returned my Pixel 5 as the top earpiece/speaker was terrible and I literally couldn't hear anyone unless I was in a very quiet environment

Is your comment about the S20+ Exynos based on Reddit or Youtube reviews as well?

          • @meong: If you are asking me about the S20+ 5G, I had one and the battery life was pretty bad and the performance was not great compared to a Snapdragon powered s20. I offloaded it and bought a Pixel 5 and that had its own issues too.

            • @Seadog3172: How did you compare? Did you get a hands on an S20+ SD version or did you compare with S20 FE?

              • @meong: I'm comparing the performance of the S20 FE Snapdragon to the S20+ Exynos. I know I'm not comparing apples to apples but the battery size and display size are very similar. I'm not saying the S20+ Exynos is a bad phone, I'd just buy the S20 FE instead. I've had both and IMO the S20 FE is a much better phone. I've been burnt by Exynos too many times, never again.

                • @Seadog3172: Thats a fair comparison actually cause i agree they're the same other than the camera arrays and the cheaper build quality on the FE…

          • @meong: edit:wrong person

I am yet to see a single S20 FE that isn't affected by the touch screen issues. Whether those issues come to life in your general usage is another story - and if they don't, that's great, it is otherwise a great phone at the price. However it is becoming increasingly more likely that it's a hardware fault, not a software one. Samsung have released 3 software updates targeting the fault, and yet the fault still exists. Very likely they're trying to find a software bandaid fix for a hardware issue, like they have in the past.

I say this as someone who returned their FE a few weeks into ownership when it became obvious that their fixes weren't working.

          • @wintermadness: What did you end up going with? Pixel 5 is the big alternative but the specs are very underwhelming. OnePlus looks nice but doesn't cover all the right bands.

            • @Diji: S20+. Really hard to find a phone that ticks the boxes for what I want. Exynos, so maybe I'll hate it in a week - time will tell. Samsung also just works better with my Galaxy watch. Had a P30 before and there were some shortcomings paired with it.

P5 looks alright, but underpowered (comparatively) CPU, smaller screen, lower refresh rate - not for me.

OnePlus didn't have wireless charging, and I really like wireless charging.

@wintermadness: Yeah Exynos turns me away. Everything else looks good though, would've been all over this if I didn't umm and ahh over the Exynos thing until the code expired.

        • Neither do I. Love mine to death

        • I have the 4G FE with Exynos. This is the first I hear about touch screen issues. Mine seems fine. Performance ok too, though fingerprint scanner a pain. Would have preferred dedicated scanner on the back, or frankly anywhere.

      • I haven't experienced any touch issues yet, but I cracked my screen. Hopefully I don't get a dud replacement

      • Mine has touch screen issues too. Somewhat remedied by disabling 'touch sensitivity' in settings. It is supposed to be enabled for if you have a screen protector, but just seems to add issues and works fine without it. Also installing 'Edge Touch' seems to have helped too. But really hope they actually fix the issues.

Picked mine up a couple weeks ago from jb. Its got touch issues. Pretty annoying when playing cod, but okay for regular use.

Considering trying to return it to jb for credit/refund

I've got the S20+ 5G Exynos after the S9+ Exynos.

Zero complaints. No performance woes, no battery issues.

      Cracking phones for Android users.

      • I'm the same - I absolutely hated the Exynos in my S9 which had well documented flaws but my S20+ 5G has been superb. Amazing camera, performance and form factor.

      • Ditto!

    • can confirm, battery life on this phone is pretty bad. But screen and 120hz display is beautiful honestly I wouldnt mind the battery. Performance is blazing fast not much difference compared to 865 i assume aside from the battery.

  • November…Time for snapdragon 875 now

    Why not $1111.20
    Cheap bastards

  • For anyone interested, the 512GB 5G variant is $1334.11 with code.

Great price for this phone but upon seeing Exynos 990 Octa-Core chipset as a part of the specs, I started to dry reach.

  • Wondering if this is much if an upgrade from S10e.
Was almost sold on the S20FE…almost.

    • +1

You do not need an upgrade.

      • s10e battery is small, may be a decent upgrade from 3000 to 4500mAh of FE
