  • I like the TUF card but is it much better than this Galax card at $319? https://www.umart.com.au/Galax-GeForce-GTX-1660-Super-1-Clic…

    • also looks like the Galax has 92mm fans and the TUF has 80mm?

      • Rod, the $20 difference in price is because Asus is deemed a more expensive brand, has an extra year of warranty, TUF branding (which matches Asus TUF branded motherboards), and also because this Asus card has a very slight higher overclock than the Galax (we're talking under 1% difference). The bigger fans in the Galax are probably going to be quieter than the smaller Asus fans, but neither card will be silent under load.

        • Is there a difference in reliability between asus and gigabyte?

          • +1

@hkborderzone: Not really. Both have high quality control standards. Generally comes down to price, looks, features and availability. Sometimes they'll differentiate by having a different mix of display connections on the card to suit different types of monitors, so that may influence your decision.

  • How much better than GTX970?

    • +3

The 1660 Super is roughly 40% faster than the GTX 970.

Further to the first reply, not enough that you can't wait for the 3060 or 3050 Ti (January).

      • OK cheers. Actually I can probably wait until the 970 dies TBH. :)

  • this or 2060 TUF for 1080 Max gaming?

    • +1

If you dont need to buy one right now, waiting a month or two till January for a deal on the new 3XXX series will be more useful. I bought the 1080 MSI at 899$ when everyone was selling it for 1200$ within the first 2 months of launch. You just have to keep eyes peeled and set up deal alerts on Ozbargain.

      • my budget is super tight however so i was tossing up between these two choices only, unless you were talking about waiting for the 3060 and then let these prices drop further

        • buy a used card, if you're lucky you could buy 1080 for $350 and 1080 ti for $450

        • +1

A 6GB 3060 shouldn't be much more expensive than this (this is $225 USD before GST). This is an MSRP deal, and we should be seeing RTX 2060 cards @ $400 and under about now.

    • But to answer your question, this one is 120$ cheaper than the 2060 and roughly 10% less performance. I would go for this one for 1080p. You might not get high framerates tho.

      • ah sucks, might go for the 2060 or the 2060S then

      • The RTX 3050 Ti is rumored to be launched in January or February 2021

    • Neither

      Get the 5600XT or wait

      • I got this one. Will arrive on Monday. Cant find much reviews for this card and there were some concerning comments on previous deal for the same card. Hopefully it will be good. Its rx 5600 xt is around 2% slower than 2060 super. But price difference is big.

I found a copy the review for it online. Site is dodgy so enter at your peril.

          https://m.acfun.cn/v/?ac=16135766

TDLR/incase it gets taken down/you don't want to enter a Chinese site filled with spam:

The card is good, noise/thermals is similar to/ slightly better than the pulse. Clocks slightly slower than the other 5600XT's - 1-3% slower in games but a small manual overclock makes up for it, not really something to worry about. The card has plenty of thermal headroom. Overall positive impression of the card beside it's basic design.

There would've been a reason the review got taken down, maybe the clock speeds being low was a driver error and ASrock asked them to take it down, maybe there were methodology problems, idk.

          • @[Deactivated]: Thanks for the link. Worked great with ad block. I guess biggest con for this card is its looks. I guess i got a good bargain :).

  • Not sure if I get this or wait for Black Friday deals, can anyone comment what it was like for parts deals last year? I need to get everything for a home build, worth waiting?

    • OzB has product page listings for all the major chip models, the 1660 Super page is linked at the top right of this deal page, so research back through.

In terms of future releases at the same price point, look into the the NVIDIA RTX 3050, 3050 Ti and 3060, as well as the Radeon 6700, 6600XT (likely name) and 6600 (likely name). You should see word on them in early January, with a mid-January launch.

    • need or want

      • I need to get it so the computer works, I want to get it for a good price as I'm an Ozbargainer :)
