Last chance to use the Amex offer, this one ships in 2 days so it should be fine. Shopback also has 8% back on the Legion series and they list the blackfriday coupon so it shouldn't be a problem.

$1299 - $180 (amex) - $94.48 ( estimated shopback) = Best case scenario $1,024.02

I believe the ram is not soldered and there should be a spare slot (not 100% on this).

  • If it is true that there is a spare slot, then a 8gb upgrade and this price is pretty good value.

    • +2

If you scroll down to the tech specs it lists:

      32GB max / 2666MHz DDR4, 2 sockets

The specs for the laptop list

      1x 8GB DIMM DDR4-2666

So I am pretty confident there is a spare slot.

Do I want to match the existing ram and get another 8GB DDR4-2666 or can I put in a 16GB?

      • its always safer to put another 8gb, or two 16gb sticks. Can't guarantee it'll work but I've seen many people do 8gb and 16gb without a problem.

    • +1

it does have a spare slot

  • wow, I think this is the cheapest laptop to have the 1660ti

  • +2

Weight is 2.4kg if anyone wants to know

  • The laptop seems pretty big and its not that portable

it's pretty big, but it has all the ports needed and pretty solid build quality. go with i7 and 16gb for extra 200 dollar

  • +3

I bought this laptop last year's black friday sales for 1400

All same spec except mine has i7 9750H 2x8GB

its not portable, webcam awkward position on the bottom of the laptop and runs hot (core temps 70-80C) on AC Vahalla High Setting stable at 60fps
otherwise, enjoying it as my first "gaming" machine

    • why isn't it portable?

      • +1

2.4KG and battery lasts like average 3 hours

        • what weight would you consider it to be portable?

        • Can you charge with USB-C?

          • @No: I would doubt it. The supplied charger does 230W. The max for USB C is 90W.

    • Core temps of 70-80 aren't bad all things considered (a lot of 9th gen i7 laptops run 90+)

Would be curious to know if you are running an undervolt/cooling pad/tweaked settings or if it's stock?

If stock, I'm thinking the 1660ti and i5 generates less heat then the i7 and 2060 combo, considering what jarrodstech got when running gaming tests on this model with 2060 (90+) with the i7.

For reference my hp omen with i9 9th series and 2080 max q runs at 70-80c under prime95 load with a modest -100mv undervolt.

I'd look into undervolting if not locked by the bios and you feel comfortable doing it, might get better and lower temps then you have now.

  • Lenovo has charged my amex and I got the credit email. Nothing from shopback yet.

  • this looks good. there's this or the dell g5 se 4600h 5600m 8gb 3200mhz 120hz 250nits (was going for about $1265 with previous dell deal). as well as upgraded g5 at ~$1550 with 4800h and 16gb ram. both laptops are similarly bulky and heavy, ~2.5kg and dell one had huge power brick. i think both arent pretty, but the dell is less pretty (comes in the old dell silver).

in response to some other comments in here..
    - cannot charge with laptop using usb-c
    - i dont think there are any powerful gaming laptop that weighs in below <1.5kg (argubly none are nicely portable)
    - seeing some reviews, im prettttty sure it has 2 slots (like the dell g5 se, however g5 se 8gb variant uses 2x4gb)

if you can get it at $1,024.02… i'm tempted to even if its ugly n fat

    • +1

Dell G5 se has thermal issues (slightly improved by bios update, partially fixed and manual tweaking) and the screen has a poor response time, awful brightness, and is installed in such a way (taped to bottom third of panel which causes it to bend/warp over time and this is Visible as yellow spots on both corners on grey/red/black backgrounds.

Bought one and returned it (could live with thermal tweaks) screen not so much.

  • I'm a noob - Play games every now and then but more web and general use. Is it a good option for that?

    • Ideally, you'd want a better CPU (Ryzen 4800/4900) and an AX wireless card.
But this laptop can play Witcher 3 and RDR2.

  • Imagine if this was a 4900HS… /drool

    • Lenovo would then price it at a very high price on the au store like they did the Legion 5 with 1660ti and 4800h before it went out of stock.

  • Out of the loop. What's the amex offer?

  • +1

    Too bad it is Intel..

  • Received 2 days after ordering. Amazing service from Lenovo. Bought the i7 9750H 2x8GB $1519 version - $180 amex CB - $91 shopback CB = $1248. Would still buy without the Amex CB.

HDMI; MiniDP and USB-C options all working for external displays. You can use 2 ports for dual external displays. I even daisy chained a couple of U2518D from the USB-C port and no issues at all. Definitely good home office option due to the multiple ports, and especially if you also intend to play casual games. My XPS13 couldn't handle CS:GO at all and daily chaining 2x1440p displays stresses it out a lot.

Good laptop highly recommended as a space-saving option if you don't want a PC. Definitely not portable, the laptop is bulky and heavy + charging brick is huge.

    • I received mine as well, has your shopback already tracked?

      • yeah it tracked but pending and saying available by 1 feb 2021
