Note: as far as i can see, Amazon isn't on the participating resellers list for the AC Valhalla Giveaway

no cash back no ac game no australia local warranty

Amazon probably has a better return service than any local PC store.

    Any deals on a 1tb ?

  • Jw, does the PS5 support this?

    • +1

Nobody knows yet, functionality is disabled and Sony said drives need to be certified. Unlikely though as it requires a fast PCIE 4.0 drive and this is a 3.0.

I would hold of until an official announcement from Sony.

      • This also looks a lot longer than the ones they use shown in teardowns

the PS5 does support 2280 drives, which then 970 evo plus is. So physically, it'll fit.

@renza: Yup, @renza is right. Per Linus Tech Tips, it should physically fit any NVMe up to 22110. Unfortunately, Sony is probably using some kind of special controller to get those amazing speeds, so unless they say it works (or that you are willing to risk buying and trying) its best not to bet on any single brand.

You'd be surprised seeing these in person. They're roughly the size of a Juicy Fruits gum packet (ie. tiny). Pictures on the internet without scale make them look a lot bigger than they are.

    • The formatted size of the inbuilt SSD is too small, they should allow 3000Mb/s+ M.2 drives to act as storage to page over to the inbuilt SSD.

The games are built with 5500MB/s read speed expected. You'd most likely find assets not loading in properly, and other stuff breaking if you put anything less in (when they enable the M.2 functionality). That's why they're being careful with what they're allowing to work, and when. Needs more testing obviously.

        • What I mean is use the external m.2 as a storage for many games and have the user/system move their current playing game to the in built super fast SSD so to stream assets without issue, as to not fill the onboard SSD up with only a few games.

    • Nope. It will require pcie 4 ssd but Sony have not release the list of compatible ssd and the nvme slot in ps5 is currently disabled.

I've been looking at these for a while. Thanks for the post, just pulled the trigger. I don't need the game that comes with the AU supplied drives.

  • Thanks OP. I have just pulled the trigger as well. I was waiting the Sabrent 2TB price to drop even further but since 970 EVO plus has dropped down to the same level as the Sabrent 2TB. I will just buy the samsung 2TB instead

  • Slightly cheaper at Newegg ($404). Ships from the US.
