Question: Do people lock in prices from a different state, or do people generally only lock in prices from the same state they’re in?
Given many state borders are closed - would they do any checks on this, or does it just flag as this is the price, with no info on where it was locked in?
you can lock any state.
there’s no checks and usually no questions.
They can't check, but I have done it and got called out by the cashier who basically said next time I came in he wouldn't accept it, (to his credit he has a good memory) next time I went in he asked me to prepay and wouldn't let me use it.

Without the app - this is available as long as you drive up when this price is live/valid.
With the app - you lock the price and have a week to redeem fuel at that price at any 7-11 in the country

Not for you to use spoofing apps to cheat and exploit the system by saying you're in a totally different state and in excess of over a 16 hour drive away.
Hence why they've gone to added lengths to try and verify you are actually at that location. Without a rooted device or PC you won't be able to exploit it.
Either way, 7/11 will just eventually shut this deal down as too many people are exploiting it. Hence why the petrol price changed within about 30 mins of this deal taking off.

Again, as I have twice before commented, I used it as intended - within that limited region covered by the App.
The servo might be 16hrs drive away for you! It's only a few minutes drive away for me!

Really? The Deal was posted 9 hours before the price went up! Most upvotes happened in a few hours of posting. Don't know where your figure of last 30 minutes came from!

No! That servo was lagging behind petrol prices in my local area, & the price went up to local prices because of that.
Most likely they also restocked 95 petrol at that time. That's the usual reason the 98 price is set to 95 price - out of stock of 95 as seen in previous Deals.
Was driving around the area very early this morning. Was very pleased I saw this Deal & locked in the price😊

Whoever is in sydney, metro condel park west U91 gives me 15 to 20% milage compared to other brands. Ive tried BP, coles and 7eleven and also other metro petrol stations.
Ive even tried U95 and U98 from other petrol stations and still this gives me more milage
I only fill U98 once every few months to clean the engine (its a theory and actually has never been proven lol)
I find myself restrained from using location spoofing features when 7 eleven already saves me hundreds a year. I literally get to avoid any moment away from the lowest trough in the fuel price cycle because of its 7 day lock-in extension.
