No this is the first Xenoblade game.
Overall the franchise has no real issue in playing any of the games first (Xenoblade Chonricnles, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Xenoblade Chronicles 2).
Although Xenoblade 1 was made first, and there are a few relatively minor benefits to playing 1 > 2.

if you have the time to play it, then its a must buy, you can just buy it and play it for a few months and sell it off for $50 (or maybe $60) on gumtree easily. I have heaps of games on hand that I haven't started playing, (zelda breath of the wild, Marvel ultimate alliance 3, zelda hyrule warrior 2 etc) if I don't have anything to play, this is a must buy for me.

Fantastic game. One of the best RPGs imo. Highly recommend for anyone into the genre.
How does this run in handheld mode? XC2 looks quite bad graphically in handheld, hoping this one is more optimised.
i reckon equally bad when i tried it playing sometimes ago.
Resolution is higher, same as XC2 Torna. I played a mix of docked and handheld and it was fine.
