US$2 (~A$2.75) off US$20 (~A$27.54) Spend with PayPal @ AliExpress

270

I noticed now that AliExpress accept PayPal as a payment option, you can get an instant US$2 discount on orders over US$20 when you select PayPal as the payment method during checkout. Anything below $20 will give you a Select Coupon after payment.

Discount might be 1 per account.

I have no problem with 28 Degrees yet, but some cards get charged with cash advance fees if paying by Paypal

I would be very curious if those people at checkout clicked on View conversion options in PayPal to set the transaction to USD instead of AUD. A lot of people forget to do that and think just having their currency conversion fee free card linked to PayPal will get them the better rate.

The first section of this guide shows how easy it is to do.

No cash advances when I used Coles Mastercard set to USD in PayPal. Certainly none (as expected) when paying from a US account too.

        • That's not what I'm talking about. Read the first section of the guide I linked. The second part shows what you've linked and that's been removed. All the conversions are done at each transaction during checkout.

          • @Clear: there was no option to pay in USD for me.

I normally use 28 degrees conversion rate but couldn't here

            • @89tnp: Works for me I just tried. Under Pay with I have one of my CC's selected and it says the following:

              PayPal's conversion rate: 1 AUD = 0.69742 USD
              See currency options

Clicking on See currency options gives me the option of choosing USD or AUD. My debit card with currency conversion fees however does not have this option.

              • @Clear: You're right. I had my currency on AliExpress set to aud instead of USD… Sigh

      • I don't think it's related to FX conversion though. On reddit some US users also complained about the cash advance fee.

        • Curious, I wonder if theirs go through Singapore as well? Perhaps its specific to the card used?

it has been reported that if you use a credit card (not debit card) to make payments to aliexpress via paypal the transactions get treated as cash advances and you might get hit with fees

  • FYI this is one time use only

    • Thanks updated. I just tried and it showed the discount for me despite already making an order with it earlier.

    • Yes. Per day maybe? cos i got it on 11.11 and again today but not on my 2nd trx today.

      • hmm I tried it again (gone past midnight here) and no dice.

Unless it's working off a different timezone?

        I shall try again tomorrow

  • Thanks clear!

  • What is a "Select Coupon" and how do you ever redeem them?

    • They typically apply to specific stores/products and take X off X. You can usually stack them with coupons.

      • Thanks.

Might be just me, but I've always found them incredibly ambiguous with no clear explanation as to what stores/products they apply to…

The Select Coupons on a product page will apply to that product and sometimes the store. Ones obtained elsewhere should say in the Coupons area of your account.

  • anybody had an experience with shop back not tracking a purchase through aliexpress? What was the end result?

    • I placed ordered via CashRewards on AliExpress … its not tracked yet … waiting ….
